Wonderful safari experience, with brilliantly friendly guides
Great safari experience! Beautiful location, well organised. The guides were exceptionally friendly and pointed out animals, whilst also giving us a good background to the area. The food was great and made by the chef (stomach engineer) Emmanuel, who was a great addition to our trip.
We managed to see all of the big five, alongside staying in fabulous locations with beautiful views, right in the heart of the parks.
The only issue we had was on payment - we were asked to pay in cash (without prior warning) and then, when we naturally didn’t have such a large amount of dollars on us, we were made to pay 5% extra for using card, which was a significant sum of money.
Aside from that, it was a wonderful trip and we would fully recommend!

Exceptional 8 day Tanzania safari followed by 3 days Zanzibar
This was to be our first safari, we looked at a lot of companies and narrowed it down to six. We wanted a local company with Tanzanian staff. The communication with Peniel combined with the reviews, his safari suggestions and price were the deciding factors for us. Our choice fell on Lights of Africa destinations and safaris.
Peniel the owner and Anton our driver/guide met us in the evening at Kilimanjaro airport and took us straight to our overnight lodge. They had arranged that the kitchen would be open so that we could have a meal when we got there. During dinner Peniel explained everything about our trip and gave us our air tickets for our flights to and from Zanzibar after the safari.
Our driver Anton came to pick us up the next morning and we began what was to be an amazing experience. Anton was an excellent driver and guide and was considerate and friendly in everything he did. Our safari consisted of Tarangire reserve, Lake Manyara, Ngorogoro crater, south and north Serengetti. The lodges were all very comfortable and the facilities and food were very good and the staff very friendly. The two tent camps that we stayed in were also very comfortable with a shower and toilet in the tent. Here again the facilities were very good and the food excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Anton was an excellent guide, he pointed out animals that we at first didn’t see and managed always to find hidden gems. He always made sure that we would be in a good position to take photos. He even managed to get us in the perfect position to be able to photograph and film the migration of Wildebeests and Zebras crossing the Mara river.
Our last 3 days we spent in Zanzibar, one night in Stone town followed by a tour of the old town and a visit to a herb and spice farm. The last two days we spent at a hotel on the beach at Nungwi. Both hotels were excellent.
This trip was very well organised with nothing left to chance. Thanks to Peniel and Anton we had the experience of a lifetime.
We would thoroughly recommend Light on Africa to all of our family and friends.

Excellent experience
The most important thing about Safari is the driver. Our driver is Johny, who is very responsible. He took us to find many good camera positions to take pictures of animals, and all the Big Five saw them. BTW, the sunrise and sunset on the grassland are so beautiful. As a couple who have just finished studying at Uni, money isn’t as dispensable as hoped. When we found Jocky Tours, who are described as a more budget option for safari choices, this was never emphasised in the experience. Each place stayed at, in Masai Mara, Nakuru, and Amboseli were very well kept and had very welcoming hosts; we couldn’t have asked for much more from any; experiencing a more Kenyan enviroment through tented camps was a special environment and important way of diving into the culture of the country. A special shout out and recommendation to the Manjaro Tented Camp in Amboseli who were AMAZING - Henry, a member of the camp, will soon become one of your favourite people! But in terms of the actual safari, it was one of the greatest experiences of our lives, as a Kenyan Safari is expected to be. But this experience was made so much better with our tour guide and driver that was with us for the whole 6 days, David. David was as attentive as anyone could have been on the experience, giving facts about each park and animal encountered, but was all very receptive to any requests by us tourists, whether to stop to take as many photos as humanly possible or find a safe place to pull over due to our tiny bladders. Although we had some hiccups in the way, David handled each situation to the best of his ability and helped make sure we made the most of every single second of our experience.

Wonderful experience from the Airport to end
Despite arriving with a late night flight , i just got out of Kilimanjaro International Airport and met Joel the guide who briefed us about Mount Kilimanjaro but it was dark we couldn’t see it, explained about the culture and lifestyle in Arusha. Our Safari guide Asad was the best he did whatever he could so that we see all the big five in Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. We were very happy with everything!

Our safari trip was amazing from start to finish. Communication during pre-planning with Hamisi was very responsive. Our guide Benjamin took realy great care of us during our trip. Please ask for him, and your trip will be awesome! He knew where to find the best spots to see the animals, his English was very good, his driving safe and he was attentive to our every need. He even helped us to sort out our national flight after the trip, which had inadvertently been changed by the airline company. We were in the vehicle with just our family of four, which made it possible to be flexible during the trip. We visited Tarangire NP, Ngorongorong, the Olduvai gorge and Serengeti NP. All worldclass experiences, and each in their own right would have deserved a much longer visit. The cherry on the cake was the balloon ride over the Serengeti.
