Amazing family trip to Tanzania - breathtaking landscapes, amazing people, powdery beaches.
8 of us (2 families of 4 w tweens) had an amazing trip to Tanzania this August. Shadows of Africa was wonderful for our private safari through the Serengeti. Especially loved the amini life lodge where we learned of Maasai tribe and slept in mid huts, and the opportunity to stay in tented camps. Zanzibar was a fabulous finish - relaxing on powdery beach, swimming w dolphins in the wild. Fabulous trip all around!

A paradise for wildlife
Wanderful stay. We visited Samburu, Baringo Lake, Bogoria lake and Nakuru lake during the first week : very interesting nature reserves, easy to visit with your own car.
Then we had a 3 days safari in Maasai Mara reserve, where we could see all kinds of wild animal, and even cheetas !
Only one disppontment : Lamu, which is in a very bad condition and dirty, despite it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Have a great trip to Kenya !

Safari was amazing, but the roads were terrible!
We booked our tour through Skywide Tour and Travels, Nairobi, a travel agency recommended by Safari Bookings. We live in Melbourne and were a little bit nervous about using a company in Nairobi, but all our plans were listened to and booked and all went very smoothly.
The scenery on the way to the Maasai Mara was magnificent, especially the Great Rift Valley. The weather at this time of the year was quite mild and in fact we needed a light jacket in the early mornings and evenings. The accommodations range from 2 to 5 stars and there are plenty to choose from. We were on a budget so we used 3 star accommodation and it was quite satisfactory. The food was international and well presented. It is also good to try the local cuisine. The most unpleasant part of the trip was the roads. There is a sealed road for most of the way but the last 30kms is on a gravel rd which is so full of pot holes etc that you have to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid doing damage to the car. If you suffer from car sickness, I would recommend that you take a small plane flight to the national park. The tracks in the national park are also very bad and you get tossed around all over the place! We had our own driver for the 2 of us and it was wonderful as you could ask him to stop for photo's or animal viewing as much as you wanted. It certainly is very exciting to see so many animals in the wild, and it was very exciting to see the lions just lying around. They are hard to find but your driver/guide is expert at finding animals. There are quite a lot of safari vehicles in the parks and they all keep each other informed of all sightings. We were lucky enough to see 3 of the big 5 in the Maasai Mara. We arrived just at the tail end of the migration but saw lines of Wildebeasts and Zebras, as far as you could see. We stayed at Ol Moran Camp which is a permanent tented camp just out side the national park and it was basic but nice. It was a surprise to us that all the places we stayed at in the national parks run on generators and the power is only on from 6-10pm and in the mornings 6-9am so make sure you take a torch! My husband uses a cpap machine so he was unable to use it. Always check the electricity availability if you need it overnight. I think all the lodges and hotels may have restrictions on electricity.
Skywide also booked the Tanzania and Victoria Falls component of our trip as well. All was perfect.

A trip to remember, a country to come back.
First, the information and attention we were provided with by Minneh were so detailed and helpful. Her answer was quick, clear and the expectations we were created were completely satisfied.
What to say about the tour... we couldn't have met a better driver! James was all the time thinking about how to take advantge of every single moment. James was a caring and expert driver who made us feel safe all the time and enjoying the vest views ever, as he was fighting the best spots in very respectful manners. We are so thankful for the 10 days safary we booked with Jocky Tours.

African Safari Adventure of a Lifetime
Suricata Safaris took us on a safari of a lifetime! We went on the 6 day tour and everyday was new and exciting with different experiences on each day. Some of the highlights were driving along side the majestic elephants, witnessing the river crossing of the great migration and being up close and personal with a pride of lions.
Suricata were so helpful from start to finish. Hilary instantaneously answered all my countless number of my queries. Our guide Freddy ensured we saw as much as possible on the game drives plus educate us with his Endless knowledge of everything safari related. On top of all this we even had our own cook. Hilda kept our bellies full with her scrumptious home cooked style meals everyday!
We will be returning to Africa and when we do we will be sure to book with Suricata again as they always put our best interest first.

We paid for more days on safari than the days we actually went on game drives
Everithing was really good on the begining. Maggie was very attentive, explained everithing on e-mail and whatsapp, answered to all our doubts and sent us all the documents we nedded.
It seemed that they were absolutely trustful, untill we reached the end of our safari.
First stop was Masai Mara NP, and we were supposed to do 4 game drives on 3 days. We were trapped by our guide that told us that on second day we would do a "full day game drive" and on third day we would go to visit a Masai Village (which was supposed to be optional)
Actually, on the second day we left the park by 4:30pm and didn't go game driving on the last (3rd) day.
Then we found out that the park tickets are valid by 24 hours, and although we paid for 2 days (48h), we only took a 24h ticket.
When we confronted Maggie with this issue, she didn't gave us our menoy back and even ignored our messages, not responding to them anymore.
Since we talked about this to other tourists, we found out that this scam is used by many budget operators. Anyway, stay alert!

Great and inexpensive!
Really great safari, well organised and no complaints. Guides were professional and food was delicious. Humphrey who organised everything for us did a great job and saw to it that all our needs were met in a highly professional way. While on safari we met other people who were taking the same trip as us and staying in the same accommodation who couldn’t believe how little we’d paid in comparison to them. A really worthwhile experience for a fantastic price. Thank you wildlife oasis tours!

3 days chimp safari
The 3 days chimp safari with Simba Africa Expeditions was great. Everything was organized perfectly. The accomodation was very good and Xavier, my driver, he did a wonderful job.
Watching the chimps in the rainforest was just breathtaking. It was an Experience of a lifetime.
I highly recommend Simab Africa Expeditions.
