Good, clean, comfortable with an awesome operator
5/5

Great landscapes and scenery, a variety of optional excursions, comfy and clean accommodation and quite simply a wonderful driver and tour guide. Shingy was fun, considerate with a fun demeanour, yet staying professional. African Travels' communication was clear and thorough and whenever we had a question they were quick to respond and sorted everything out quickly. They delivered on everything they promise in the "brochure". Thank you guys for a good trip.

Long Drive, but worth the amazing experience!!
5/5

My friend and I did a 3 day luxury Safari tour of the Masai Mara Park where I stayed at the Mara Engai lodge. I highly recommend this lodge!! The upside is that the accommodations are impeccable, the service is unmatched, and once you book, it’s full board (includes everything but alcoholic beverages). Our Africa Celebrity guide's name was Muli and he was great! He was really knowledgeable and in-tune when it came to the game drives. The downside to this experience was that it is very deep into the National Park, so its a superrrrrrr long drive from Nairobi (~8 hours). Also, lunch was not included on the way back to Nairobi. The cost of the 3 Day Safari tour was $1,160 for two people. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the Mara Engai Lodge; they also offer additional excursions like ATV bikes through the park, and hot air balloon rides. There are plenty of competing lodges, but none that I found to be quite as nice (with the exception of the Serena hotel) or with as much value for the price. I also opted for a tour of a Masai village at the end of my safari for an additional $30. If you do this, have cash to purchase jewelry made by the Masai people, and to donate to their local village. Overall, this was definitely a highlight of my time in Kenya.

Five Locations - Five Incredible Experiences
5/5

Paul and I together planned five very diverse experiences over a 3 week Tanzania safari. First was Arusha in the North and a deep dive into this high paced African city and all of the wonderful diversity of people, cultures and perspectives it holds. There I spent most of my time in the local markets and places not often visited by tourists. Chem Chem was my first deep dive into the bush and Tanzania's amazing wildlife. Here at Chem Chem, the guide, the Maasai warrior companion for walking safari, and the hospitality are simply exceptional. On to Ndutu in the Serengetti with Nomad Safaris, more exceptional guiding and a team with deep respect and care for the wildlife. Here I watched a male Cheetah finish a kill on a Wildebeest and much, much more. Then to Ruaha National Park in the South for its abundant elephant populations, big cats and as elsewhere remarkable bird species diversity. Finally to Chole Island in the Mafia Archipelago where I lived for several a in tree house.

Paul's knowledge of Tanzania, its people, its wildlife and the biodiversity of this beautiful country made this experience possible. Its is hard to imagine a better experience than I had with Paul Tickner Safaris. It doesn't get any better than this. I would give Paul my highest recommendation and my deepest thanks.

Frank will take care of you.
5/5

From communication to the actual game drive in Akagera Park, Frank was very helpful. The tour itself was fantastic. We had a guide with us who was very familiar with the local wildlife and could answer any questions we had. Frank took his time on the drive, even doubling back for missed picture opportunities! He made the tour as memorable for us as he could. There was never a "drive them around and get done" attitude.

If you are planning a trip to any of the countries Frank conducts business in I highly recommend Golden Rwanda Safaris. He made our trip a most memorable one for my daughter and I.

Thanks Frank!

Best week of my life!
5/5

I spent 6 days with Tony on an adventure of a lifetime that took me from Maun to Kasane. Along the way I experience many wondrous things: I took a canoe ride through the Okavango Delta; passed through Madabe Game Reserve where I saw elephants, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, many kinds of antelope, ostrich, an abundance of birds and lions; spent 3 wonderful days in Savuti, where Tony used his incredible tracking skills to find us 3 leopards and a pride of lions with cubs. the bird life in Savuti was remarkable - if you love raptors, you will love Savuti; finally, I had 2 days in Moremi Game Reserve where Tony took me on an exhilarating night drive and I also saw a honey badger, porcupines, wild dogs, hippos, eagles, lions, hyenas, jackals, vervet monkeys, crocodiles, bush babies and, my personal favourite, a dung beetle pushing along a cricket ball sized ball of dung.

It was fun and exciting to sleep in tents with the sounds of the jungle at night going on around me, and the T-bone steaks that Tony cooked up on the BBQ were delicious. Simple living at its finest.

You can only see what you see and this is a good mantra to take into any safari. But, with the experience Tony can give you, your chances of seeing something remarkable are greatly enhanced. He is mightily passionate about the animals he shares the wonderful country of Botswana with and is a tremendously entertaining character with a wonderfully gentle soul. His stories will inspire you and his knowledge of the animals you are watching will fascinate you.
