Words cannot begin to describe this experience. From the time you inquire about packages, to the time you get dropped off to leave, the experience is incredible. The customer service from everyone involved throughout the process is outstanding!
The safari is life changing. We got to see Rhinos (yes, multiple), Cheetas feeding on a fresh kill, have elephants walk inches away from our jeep and even see a lioness successfully hunt a warthog. But none of that would have been possible without our driver and tour guide Shafino. He was the real highlight of our trip. From the second he greeted us at our first hotel we knew we were in the BEST hands.
Shafino was beyond knowledgeable about the culture, the animals, the people and anything else we asked about. He knew exactly where to drive to see the animals we wanted to see. He is also the most talented driver around, and I can say this because while other drivers were getting stuck in the mud and peoples safaris were put on hold while they had to be towed out, Shafino was experienced enough to know exactly where and how to drive so we would not get stuck. If you are booking with Lion King Shafino is a MUST!!

I first reached out to Gems of Africa when looking at booking a 2 night safari for our January trip. Within 24 hours, Kelly got back to me saying that the option I had enquired about was not available. Attached to the email was then a document of options that were available for my selected dates - options that I would not have been able to find myself when looking online. Kelly was extremely responsive and answered all of my questions quickly. We had decided to go with the presented option of Inverdoorn, a reserve that we had not heard of before but found out it is the sister reserve of Aquila. The booking process was easy and smooth, and Inverdoorn were in touch the day before our safari to inform us of pick up time from our accommodation to the safari. When we arrived, we were presented with a (huge!) cake as I had told Kelly that we were visiting for my birthday. A really nice touch that definitely was not needed, but was very much appreciated.
The tour itself was amazing, on our first drive when we arrived we saw lions, rhino, giraffes, springbok, buffalo and ostriches. Then the following morning we saw the same again alongside the elephants. We got very close to the animals without it becoming intrusive and our ranger was both extremely passionate and knowledgeable. You could tell he loved the animals and what he does. I would definitely recommend Gems of Africa to anyone who is looking to book a safari. Hassle free, great communication and reliable!

last year in June I went to Uganda to connect with hip hop practitioners and build with hip hop culture communities In east Africa through my organization called Boda2Boda.
After my outreaches I partnered with Zootopia game drive safaris to visit some of the game parks and also see the Gorillas.
they gave me a series of itineraries and I chose a 5 days trip through Queen Elizabeth game drive and big 5 viewing, bwindi for Gorillas and lake Bunyonyi for leisure.
I enjoyed the kazinga channel boat trip and the many hippos and birds were amazing to see along the journey.
The guide was Richard was friendly and knowledgeable about animals and he was a good spotter.
The communication with Nicole and Ronnie was consistent and I was impressed by Ronnie's flexibility to adjust to all requests I made even on last minute.
The trip was okay, and mu highlight was ofcos the gorilla experience. These endangered species of mountain Gorillas were glorious and the moments with them in the jungle were mouth watering.
I would do this trip allover again if chance comes again in the near future with Zootopia game drive safaris. They are polite, patient,supportive and professional. Thanks to Ronnie for the smooth organization and for Richard for being a down to earth guide with good experience and the clear love of nature and his country.

Elias, the driver, was really good and managed to spot many animals (including all the Big 5).
The cook Salim provided great food. Everything he cooked was delicious.

Wow, what can we say! We trawled the internet for tour operators and landed on Balu, our agent was Morris. From beginning to end, Morris was FANTASTIC. We admittedly were not the easiest of clients, we had trust issues parting with so much money for a Maasai Mara Safari package and a lot of questions with it being our first time in Kenya but Morris dealt with us with professionalism, reassurance and knowledge - just brilliant. He organised extra things we required such as transfers from remote locations and had brilliant communication throughout, consistent and thorough.
The tour exceeded all our expectations!! It was AMAZING!! Absolutely worth it and presented as such value for money from all the research we did. Our driver was Solomon who had the BEST knowledge of the Maasai and incredible driving skills. We are so happy we booked with Balu and had Morris as our rep. Good guiding, information throughout the trip, got suggestions for attractions, restaurants- really got the feeling that the trip was created there and then with the help of them! Take an extra day to visit a hazad tribe and experience how they hunt for a living! One of the best experiences I've had
