Malaria & Safety – Toro National Park

Toro Operators Toro National Park

Safety

Toro National Park (formerly Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve) is a safe place to visit in our opinion, especially if you are traveling on an organized tour. Self-drive is also a good option, but independent travelers should always seek local advice before heading out. For current information about safety in Uganda, check the government travel advisories (see the ‘Governments’ Travel Advice for Uganda’ link below).

Malaria & Vaccinations

It is important to protect yourself against malaria. Taking antimalarial medication and using mosquito repellent (those containing DEET are most effective) are essential. Covering up exposed skin in the evening is also advisable. Ensure that you have the recommended vaccinations before your trip.

Wildlife Viewing & Chimp Trekking

Wildlife viewing is very safe as long as you follow the park’s regulations and listen to your guide’s instructions. Also take note of the ‘Wildlife Viewing Safety Precautions’ below. If you go while visiting Toro, you should also read the ‘Chimp Trekking Safety Precautions’.
