The Machame Route, also known as the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most scenic and popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It approaches the mountain from the south-west and is well known for its diverse landscapes and strong acclimatization profile. Trekkers hike through dense rainforest, open moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit zone. Accommodation is in tents throughout the climb. This route offers excellent views and a higher success rate when climbed with proper pacing.
