The Machame Route is a fantastic option. Known also as the Whisky Route, it's the second most popular way up the mountain and is widely considered one of the most picturesque. Unlike the Marangu Route, which has huts for accommodation, the Machame Route provides only tents. It's a longer and more challenging climb, but well worth the effort for the stunning views. About 80% of climbers who attempt the Machame Route successfully reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.
