Day 1: Starting the trip at Momella Gate (1,500m) heading to Mariakamba Hut (2,514m) Distance: 10 km, 4–6 hrs. Pass through forest with giraffes, buffalo, and colobus monkeys. Overnight at Mariakamba Hut. The next day it will be Mariakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570m) about distance 8 km. Steady climb through montane forest and open moorland. Afternoon hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for acclimatization. Overnight at Saddle Hut. Return to Saddle Hut for lunch and rest.
