Birds – Ts'ehlanyane NP

Ariadne is a renowned Africa expert. She and her husband write and update content for many travel organizations, including the Lesotho Tourist Board.
With its great network of well-marked trails and rich birdlife, Ts’ehlanyane National Park is an excellent birding destination. There are more than 100 species recorded and many of them are high-altitude specials. Look out for the iridescent malachite sunbird feeding on aloes and the odd-looking, near-endemic ground woodpecker. Birds of prey are plentiful; Cape vulture and jackal buzzard are quite common, and you’ll have a chance of spotting the endangered bearded vulture too.
