The 'Pearl of Africa' for a Reason and So Much More!
The 8 Day tour I booked proved to be as much a road trip as it was a safari! Traveling well over 1,500 kms / 1,000 miles, there’s quite the distance between itinerary destinations that don’t always match-up logistically despite permits and schedules. My best advice is plan to stay as many days as possible so you’re not always finishing one highlight before rushing off to the next destination.

a random elephant or herd of water buck may decide to cross and when not, there were always the people passing by whether walking or riding and seeing what I called “the real, raw Africa” of everyday life that I’d never experienced with any other tour.I was fortunate to have Simpson Niwagaba Vannet as a guide that I clicked with like a lifelong friend and that also had an endless play list for all that time in the Jeep Land Cruiser. He went above and beyond fixing problems with the permits and itinerary, the vehicle, and even took me back to his hometown to stay which confirmed the absolute best part of Uganda. It’s the people and their welcoming warmth and hospitality found everywhere I went.
I will come back to Uganda at some point sooner than later and encourage adventure travelers to come for the gorillas but plan to stay longer for everything else!

The Pearl of Africa with the friendliest people

with the locals at the Bigodi Wetland cultural village (near Kibali), a pygmy tribe near the Bwindi Impenetrable forest and before hiking in to see Gorilla's. I was 70 and perhaps we were lucky to see gorillas after only a 5 minute walk, an unforgettable experience. The staff at the lodge at Kibale to see chimpanzees were the friendliest and the food was excellent. Queen Elizabeth Park didn't have as much wildlife as other parks, but we did see tree climbing lions as we did in Murchison Falls. A boat ride in the nearby Kazinga channel had an abundance of wildlife. We stayed overnight in Lake Bunyonyi which had a nice view, but we didn't feel the boat ride was that special.Although Uganda is a poor country, the people more than make up for it with their friendly spirit. It is easy to see why Uganda is known as the Pearl of Africa.

An untapped delight
We can not recommend Uganda and Kajie Safari’s enough. The planning process was simple and pricing was very modest. The accommodation, tour guide, vehicle, food and animal encounters all surpassed our expectations.
We squeezed a lot into our 7 days, but the travel and activities were all incredible.
We hope to return to Uganda one day and see the sites that we weren’t able to cram into this trip.

Breathtaking
Uganda truly is The Pearl of Africa! We chose Kajie Safaris to be our tour company and trust me they didn’t disappoint! They were fantastic!
I’ve travelled to many countries and I have to say Uganda was truly breathtaking. It was green, lush, mountainous and beautiful. The people were so kind and giving. They are all about community and I loved that. Every day was about a new adventure and something neat to see. The mountain gorillas was definitely our highlight! It was an incredible experience.
The accommodations were incredible and the service we received was second to none. The Ugandan people couldn’t do enough for us.
I would tell everyone to go to Uganda, you will be so amazed with its beauty!

Beautiful country with enchanting wildlife and hardworking people
We enjoyed every minute in Uganda, amazingly green in December. Seeing gorillas in Bwindi was an unforgettable experience. Walking safari among girrafes in Lake Mburo NP and among rhinos in Ziwa was absolutely unique. Uganda is a gem. We had chosen Wild Uganda among the tour operators and it was an excellent choice.

Gorgeous, unforgettable
I’m glad I chose Uganda for my first safari. It’s unique position at the cross road of East and Central Africa means you get a taste of both savanna and rainforest wildlife. Gorilla and Chimp tracking are truly bucket list experiences. But don’t ignore the savannah parks of Queen Elizabeth NP and Murchison Falls NP. Herds of elephants, hippos, topi, kob, giraffes, lions- it’s a smorgasbord of wildlife.

Uganda is home to amazing wildlife and it offers a unique opportunity to see the mighty River Nile. That was a highlight of my trip together with the amazing people of the country!

A pleasant country with beautiful nature and animals.
We visited Uganda in December. Overall the weather was perfect, except for one day when it rained and was cold.We went on a 7-day safari. The tour operator had arranged everything to a high standard. The hotels were very good.We were very pleased with the visit.

Wonderful country, super friendly people
Uganda particularly impressed us with its inhabitants and their wonderful friendliness. The gorilla trekking was unique, of course, but the other safari activities were also excellent. We highly recommend the community walks, which allowed us to meet some wonderful people. We were thrilled with our tour operator, African Finfoot Safaris, who put together a varied programme for us with great accommodation and an excellent tour guide.
