We had an amazing 6 nights in Botswana. We were so lucky with the animals we saw and this was completely down to our fantastic guides & trackers. We got to see all the big cats as well as zebra, giraffe, wart hugs, hyena, wild dogs, hippos, elephant, ostrich and all the deer family.
Weather was perfect, everyone we met from lodge staff to airline crew to other guests were friendly. The lodges are extremely comfortable and have everything you need.
Having been on both self drive and guided safaris in the best, this was our best experience yet. We will be back.
Can we finish by saying a huge thank you to Kwando lodges and Gondwana tours for looking after us so brilliantly

We had 3 camps going from primitive to luxurious. Each camp was wonderful and offered different experiences. We loved Oddballs as it was small scale and beautifully situated on a river with the most friendly people. Travel between tge camps with a small plane. We loved it. The Kwai guest house had wonderful off track safaris and they sponsored the local school which very much impressed us. The camp on the Chobe river had an amazing boat safari where we saw the animals again so close when they swam to an island

Two nights tented trip with 11 & 15 years old in Moremi

Getting in and out Moremi from/to Maun used lot of first and last day. In hindsight we should have booked 3 nights. On other hand we stayed overnight in Maun before and after safari, which was correct decision - we did cross Namibian border with rental car before and after.

We saw lot of animals and the guide did excellent job looking for them. He did also lessen us and tried show different things - not only drive after the big 5. The team did communicate well with us, even with kids. We got everything agreed and more.

The camp was functional and food was tasty - importantly kids liked it. I can recommend this highly - expensive, but worth every pula.

Overall, Botswuana was a safe destination; full of lovely people who all speak English and try to help tourists as much as possible. Visited Chobe in July and there were elephants everywhere. Beautiful scenary.
People might not expect it but if you go for a safari it can be really cold in the morning, so come prepared!

Amazing wildlife and scenery

We spent 9 nights in Botswana in the Okavango delta region in late July-early Aug 2025. We have done many safaris in different countries, but this was our first time in Botswana and first experience in a mobile camping. We truly loved it. Our safari was organised by Kingfisher Safaris.
We flew from Maun to Khwai River concession where we spent our first 3 nights. Our camping site was at the margin of Mbudi river, where we had a relaxing mokoro trip. This place is magical, wildlife sightings are great, we saw loads of hippos (George, a solitary one was our neighbour!), large groups of lions with cubs (during day and night drives) and also feeding on a zebra (we didn't see the kill), wild dogs with very young puppies, buffalos, wildebeests and many antelopes. We had a 45-min helicopter flight with Helicopter Horizon to have a better overview of the delta and it was just amazing. This was the busiest area in terms of number of cars we encountered during the drives of the three
Read more we visited. In some occasions there were too many cars on a sighting for my liking, particularly if involved leopard or lion. We then moved to Mababe (Chobe National Park) for another 3 nights and the wind was quite cool, particularly in the morning. Sunrises and sunsets were amazing, the very dark sky (new moon) was perfect for stargazing and we saw many shooting stars, satellites and a very clear milky way. We saw hienas, large herds of giraffes and elephants with very young ones, many interesting birds, roan antelope, and a lot more, but not big cats (probably due to the cold spell). Our last camp site was Xiini in Moremi Reserve, where we saw leopards three times (including walking straight to our camp and in the evening catching an owl from its nest on a tree just on the side of our camp). We also saw cheetahs twice (once with cubs feeding on an impala) and many lions, including one pride of 9 lions encountering a herd of elephants... And more. This is a beautiful location with loads to see!

I had high expectations of Botswana and even those were surpassed. The people of Botswana were the stand-out. Smiley, warm and always friendly and welcoming.
The wildlife sightings were sublime.
My family enjoyed every second of our trip to Botswana 😌

The flight schedules of Botswana's airline change frequently, causing me a lot of trouble with my itinerary. The quality of service provided by local travel agencies is not good.
