Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport in Kigali and brief you about the safari before starting the scenic drive towards Uganda. The journey passes through Rwanda’s famous “Land of a Thousand Hills,” offering beautiful views of terraced hillsides, small villages, and green countryside.

After crossing the border into Uganda, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. The park is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You will arrive at your lodge in the afternoon or early evening. After check-in, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful forest atmosphere while preparing for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Gorilla Trekking Experience and Transfer Back to Kigali

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing by the park rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about the rules and guidelines for trekking and visiting the gorillas.

The trek through the dense forest can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family you are assigned to. As you hike through the forest with experienced ranger guides, you may also spot other wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and beautiful forest plants.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them at close range as they feed, groom, and interact with each other. Watching these gentle giants in their natural environment is truly one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in the world.
