Head to the rolling hills of Tsavo

Depart Nairobi for Tsavo West (5 hours), a 7,000 sq. km park with woodland, savannahs, and riverine habitats. It hosts many species, including elephants, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, crocodiles, and over 600 bird species. When you get into the park, you'll head to Serena Kilaguni Lodge for lunch. Located between Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, this stone lodge offers excellent views of the hills and overlooks a water hole frequented by elephants, buffalo, and plains animals. It was one of the first lodges inside a national park, and it has a restaurant, lounge, bar, swimming pool, sun deck, gift shop, and rooms with views of the water hole or the Chyulu Hills. After lunch, enjoy a late-afternoon game drive and a nature walk at Mzima Springs, where hippos, crocodiles, and many birds may be seen. Return to Kilaguni for dinner, then relax and watch wildlife at the water hole. The next day, head out early for a morning game drive to explore the park, with all meals at the lodge.
