Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Meet your driver-guide in Nairobi in the morning and set off for the Maasai Mara. Stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where the escarpment opens onto a remarkable panorama and offers a chance for photographs. Continue through the countryside towards Narok, stopping for lunch along the way. As you approach the Mara, the landscape gives way to broad plains and scattered acacia trees. Arrive at your budget camp, check in and take the evening to settle in after the journey. Dinner and overnight are at camp. There is no game drive on Day 1. Guests interested in local culture may request an optional Maasai village visit for USD 10 per person extra, subject to arrival time and availability.

Full Maasai Mara Game Drive

After breakfast, collect your packed lunch and head into the Maasai Mara for a full-day game drive. Explore its open grasslands and riverine areas with your driver-guide, watching for lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and many other species. The route and sightings will depend on wildlife movements, giving each day in the reserve its own character. Pause for your packed lunch, then continue exploring in the afternoon, with time to enjoy the scenery and photograph sightings along the way. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Enjoy breakfast at camp before departing for Nakuru. The journey takes you away from the Mara’s wide plains and through the changing scenery of the Rift Valley. Stop for lunch along the way and continue towards Lake Nakuru, one of Kenya’s best-known national parks. On arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy time to relax after the drive. Dinner and overnight are in Nakuru. Tomorrow morning brings the chance to explore the park’s lakeshore, grassland and woodland habitats on a game drive before travelling south to Amboseli.
