Day 1

Meet your safari guide and drive out of Kampala in the morning for the start of your gorilla, chimp, and golden monkey safari. Make a stop at the equator to get the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the Southern- and Northern Hemispheres. Continue to the town of Mbarara for lunch before the final part of the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Have a relaxed evening, enjoying the view from the lodge.

In the morning your guide takes you to Kalinzu Forest for your chimp-trekking experience. You have a walk in the beautiful jungle and an encounter with the chimps. When you get back from the trek, your guide takes you to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, it is time for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This two-hour boat ride offers you the opportunity to look for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds by the shores.

Day 3

Set off for the Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast, known for its tree-climbing lions. During the game drive, look for them as well as topis and buffaloes. After the game drive, you continue the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of the mountain gorillas.

Day 4

Gorilla-trekking experience and transfer to Kisoro

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest is the major highlight of the trip. Set off early with the guides after breakfast to track the gorillas with a packed lunch and enough drinking water. Each gorilla encounter is different and has its own rewards. Watch adult gorillas feeding, climbing, grooming, and resting as the youngsters play and swing from vines in a pleasant, good-humored show.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swaddle of dense rainforest, so ancient that it survived the last Ice Age! A recently proclaimed World Heritage Site, it is one of the most biologically-diverse areas on earth. Its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world's population of mountain gorillas (estimated at six hundred). After the trek, start your journey to Kisoro town.

Day 5

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and start your journey to Mgahinga National Park for golden monkey trekking. This will involve hiking in search of golden monkeys in their natural habitat. The activity starts at 8:00 AM with an orientation of what is to be expected. You then head out in search of the golden monkeys using the Gahinga trail. The trek may be long and you are required to carry a packed lunch and enough drinking water. After the trek, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.
