Pickup in Dar es Salaam, road transfer to Nyerere National Park - Sunset Boat Safari

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or agreed location in Dar es Salaam. Meet your driver and travel south by road toward Nyerere National Park, enjoying views of rural Tanzania, small villages, farms, and changing landscapes along the way. Road access from Dar es Salaam is one of the established ways of reaching Nyerere.

Upon arrival in the Nyerere area, you will check in at your safari camp or lodge and have time to relax and enjoy lunch or refreshments.

Later in the afternoon, head to the Rufiji River for a memorable sunset boat safari. Cruise along the river and its channels while observing hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds, and other wildlife that may gather along the riverbanks. The Rufiji River is one of Nyerere's defining attractions and provides a very different wildlife-viewing experience from a traditional game drive.

Enjoy the beautiful African sunset over the river before returning to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart with your safari guide for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park. Spend the day exploring the park's extensive wilderness of miombo woodland, open plains, lakes, wetlands, and the Rufiji River ecosystem. Your guide will select the most productive wildlife areas according to current conditions and recent sightings.

Nyerere supports a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, antelopes, and African wild dogs, although wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a suitable location in the park, allowing you to maximize your time on safari.
