You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am and then proceed to the Mt. Kenya region, where you’ll spend the afternoon at Sweetwaters Game Ranch. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the tented camp here. Sweetwaters is the only rehabilitation sanctuary in Kenya for abused chimpanzees. Two groups live here in an environment that is as close to their natural habitat as possible. The ranch is also a dedicated black rhino breeding area.

Day 2

You will depart Ol Pejeta in the morning and drive along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch. The park is Kenya’s first rhino sanctuary and features one of the largest concentrations of black rhinoceros in the world, as well as a large population of white rhino. Also of interest is an area fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes.
Predators here include lions, leopards, and large pythons hiding in the dense woodlands, which may occasionally be seen crossing roads or dangling from trees. Other game includes Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, the long-eared leaf-nosed bat, colobus monkey, rock hyrax, hippo, waterbucks, impalas, striped hyenas, bat-eared fox, wildcats, reedbucks, and golden cats.

Day 3

You will eat an early breakfast and then enjoy a game drive as you exit the park. You'll drive via the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara in time for lunch at the Zebra Plains Mara Camp. After game driving until dusk, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4

You'll spend the day exploring the park in search of the Big Five. An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of $450 per person. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe—over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopards, many kinds of antelopes, and elephants.
It is here that the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah: lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures. An optional visit to a local Masai village ($35USD) can also be arranged. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 5

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Naivasha—the highest and purest of the Great Rift Valley lakes. This area is famous for its birdlife. It is a breeding ground for pelicans, fish eagles, cormorants, and many more. You will also find other animals such as hippos, zebras, antelopes, and Colobus monkeys. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat ride along Lake Naivasha to Crescent Island, where you will be doing a nature walk next to zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, waterbucks, antelopes, and many types of birds. You might also see zebras and giraffes close to the lakeshore.

Day 6

After an early, sumptuous breakfast, you’ll depart for Amboseli National Park, which is truly classic Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery, it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest free-standing volcanic mountain in the world and topped by one-fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop, vast herds of elephants are accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous animals, including lions, buffalo, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelles, hippos, and wildebeest. You’ll arrive at your accommodation in time for check-in and a delicious lunch. The afternoon will be spent on a game drive in search of the Big Five and other animals.

Day 7

You will spend the full day in Amboseli. You’ll start with an early morning game drive and then return for breakfast at the hotel. You’ll spend the rest of the morning at your leisure—perhaps by the pool overlooking the majestic mountain! After lunch, you’ll head out for yet another game drive in search of lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, cheetahs, buffalo, and other plains game.

Day 8

After an early morning game drive, you’ll return to the camp and enjoy breakfast at leisure before checking out of the lodge. You’ll then transfer from Amboseli National Park to the airport to catch your flight. Lunch will be served in Nairobi before a transfer to the airport.
