Your journey begins early in the morning when your guide collects you from either your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. You’ll set off on a 4-5 hour drive to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), stopping along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch.
On arrival, check into your lodge and take some time to unwind before the evening adventure. As the day cools, head out on a magical boat safari along the Rufiji River—one of the park’s signature experiences. Drift past elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife while the sun sets in a blaze of color over the water.

Day 2

After breakfast at 07:00 am, Spend the full day exploring the vast plains and woodlands of Nyerere on a game drive. Look out for lions, wild dogs, giraffes, and buffalo. Packed lunch in the bush with scenic views.
After lunch You will be scouring different water holes for predator kills as well as catching the animals as they drink.

Day 3
Nyerere to Mikumi National Park
Nyerere to Mikumi National Park
Early in the morning, you will depart for a Bushmen Walking Safari, a unique and exciting experience found only in Tanzania. The walk will last approximately 2-3 hours, after which you will return to the camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, you will collect your packed lunch and begin your drive to Mikumi Village, passing through Morogoro. Lunch will be enjoyed on the way.
As you cross Mikumi National Park, you might be lucky enough to spot wildlife along the roadside.
Upon arrival at Mikumi Bastian Camp, you will have dinner and stay overnight, preparing for the next day's adventure.

Day 4

You'll wake up early for heavy breakfast followed by morning game view across Mikumi’s Mkata floodplain—rich with wildebeests, lions, zebras, and birdlife.
At 11:00 drive to Ruaha National Park via Iringa where you will stop for hot lunch and proceed to Ruaha, arrive and check in at Ruaha Bandas for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, with packed lunch, Explore the rugged wilderness of Ruaha, famous for its large elephant herds, lions, kudu, and baobab landscapes. Enjoy picnic lunch by the river and continue search for wildlife.
Ruaha National Park covering 10,300km², is the most visited national park in the southern part of Tanzania. Thanks to the size of the park and the fact that the south of Tanzania is less visited than the northern parks, you will have plenty of space and hardly encounter any other safari vehicles on your game drives.

Early departure for Katavi (approx. 4 hrs). Arrive and enjoy game drive in one of Tanzania’s most untouched parks. You may spot Cape buffalo herds, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and elephants. Also, along the Katuma River, crocodiles and hippopotamus which on annual dry seasons results in mud-holes that can be packed with hundreds of hippos. Carnivorous animals that roam this park are cheetahs, hyenas, leopards, and lions. Dinner and your overnight stay will be in the park.

This day Spend exploring this wild, remote paradise. It’s a photographer’s dream, especially during dry season when wildlife congregates around the remaining water sources. Packed lunch will be served at the bush.
Katavi has fewer human visitors and jeeps conducting game drives than other Tanzania parks. Your guide will assist you to spot different species of animals including the rare seen roan and sable antelopes.

Spend the morning enjoying one last game drive in the wild plains of Katavi home to large herds of buffalo, elephants, and dramatic predator action. After lunch, depart for a drive to Mpanda town where you'll overnight and prepare for the journey to Mahale.

Start with breakfast. Meet the park rangers and begin the incredible trek into Mahale Mountains to find the wild chimpanzees. This once-in-a-lifetime experience takes you deep into the forest, guided by trackers who know the movements of the chimp families. Return to camp for hot lunch and relax on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Optional: Take an afternoon swim or short nature walk.

Today after breakfast at 07:30 am, you will drive to Kigoma. It's a 7 hours drive to the rough road. On the way, you will pass a small village and cross the ferry. Lunch will be served on the way. You will arrive at the Hotel relaxing by Lake Tanganyika. It’s a final day to breathe in the magic of remote Africa
Kigoma is located on the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika. It is surrounded by rugged mountains and forests that make it a pleasing and beautiful location.

After breakfast and check-out, you'll have the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural highlights of Kigoma. Depending on your interests and time, you may visit sites such as the old German railway station, the Ujiji Livingstone Memorial, or enjoy a relaxed stroll along Lake Tanganyika’s shores.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to Kigoma Airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam, departing at 16:30. This marks the end of your epic Southern and Western Tanzania adventure—rich with wildlife, culture, and unforgettable landscapes.
