You can visit Lesotho throughout the year. Overall, October to March (summer in the southern hemisphere) is most pleasant as the weather is warm. However, rain and mist are quite regular during these months, so you should plan your activities well. The dry winter months (April to September) are very cold. The landscape is lush and green from mid to late summer (December to April).

High Season December, January, July and August (There is little tourism, except at Sani Top)

Best Weather October to March (Mild weather)
Worst Weather May to August (Chilly mornings and nights)

April to September Dry Season Winter

  • Lots of sunshine and no rain
  • Skiing might be available depending on snowfall
  • Cold weather with freezing nights
  • The sky is hazy and the scenery looks drab from June to October

October to March Wet Season Summer

  • The landscape is lush and fresh
  • Bird watching is superb
  • The climate is lovely
  • Rain can interfere with hiking trips

Best Time To Go by Major Park

Lesotho’s parks can be visited throughout the year. Lesotho is not a wildlife destination, but some animals can be encountered while out and about in the parks at any time. The main activities offered are hiking and pony trekking, and while the summer months (October to March) see some rain, these months are overall most comfortable.
