Worst Safari Experience in 30 Years of Travel
My husband and I booked a 3-night, 4-day private safari in the Masai Mara with this agency, specifically to witness the river crossing. Two friends of ours booked a 2-night group safari with Axis at the same time.
Day 1: On our first evening, our driver ( Francis)took us to see a couple of lions, then drove for 1.5 hours through empty areas — no other cars, no animals. Back at the hotel, other guests (including our friends) shared how they’d seen cheetahs and other wildlife. I assumed it was just bad luck.
Day 2: We had a full-day game drive. The morning brought two lions, then the driver took us back to the same empty area as the day before. We saw a few hippos and maybe four other vehicles all day — that’s it. I specifically asked to drive along the Mara River, but he refused, saying there was “nothing there.” By 3 pm, he drove us back to the hotel without explanation. Later, I learned from my friends — in the same area — that they’d seen lions, cheetahs, leopards, and more. Clearly, it wasn’t luck; he had wasted our entire day.
Day 3: We finally drove along the Mara River and waited for the crossing until about 4 pm. The driver drove us back to the hotel, At 4:40 pm, my friends messaged me — they’d just seen the river crossing.
We paid $8,000 for four days and saw almost nothing, while everyone else seemed to have incredible sightings. The driver spent most of his time on the phone with his wife and kids, which I wouldn’t have minded if he’d still done his job. I understand nature isn’t guaranteed, but his choices and lack of effort made this the worst safari I’ve ever taken.
I’ve been travelling for 30 years and have done several safaris before — even when sightings were rare, the guides made the experience enjoyable. This time, the driver’s poor decisions ruined it.
I recommend that you don't book with this company. Save your money, time, and patience.

Unforgettable, Endless
We just finished an amazing 7-day safari – highly recommend it for Amazing Memories Safaris. And also thanks to our awesome tour guide, Francis.Francis is knowledgeable, drove really safely and carefully, and was incredibly patient spotting animals for us. We went to Amboseli, Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and the Maasai Mara. Thanks to his skills and patience, we even got to see the wildebeest crossing.
The tour company gave us a nice, new vehicle. Francis was great – he'd get up early every day to clean the car and take out the trash, get our water and lunch boxes ready when needed, and just made sure everyone was happy. So patient and professional the whole time.

We had an incredible experience with Amazing Memories Safaris. The planning and booking process with Tito was smooth and efficient—he made everything easy and stress-free. Unlike other travel agents we tried, Tito was able to secure the exact hotel rooms we wanted. After making a 25% deposit, we received all the confirmations for our hotels promptly, which gave us peace of mind.
Our guide and driver, Anyona Peter, made the safari unforgettable. With over 30+ years of experience, he’s not only incredibly knowledgeable but also seems to know almost everyone out on safari! Thanks to his connections and communication with other drivers, we had some rare and amazing sightings—including a cheetah on the hunt, an injured lion guarding its kill, and of course, we were lucky enough to witness the wildebeest crossing at the Sand River.
Peter’s expertise and good luck truly elevated our safari experience. We felt safe, informed, and in the best hands throughout the journey.

Simply outstanding!
We requested a personalised itinerary based on our experiences 30 years ago working and living in Nairobi. Our wish was to share this experience with our family of 6. Titus not only put all the complicated arrangements in place but also was endlessly patient and helpful with our numerous questions! All the arrangements went incredibly smoothly from start to end. The quality of our hotels/lodges were beyond our expectations. We were truly amazed and grateful for the friendly staff, the quality and choice of meals, the comfort of accommodation and the superb safaris.
One person responsible for making our trip so memorable was our incredible driver/guide, James. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the animals and plants, he always knew which routes to take for the best viewing. All along he made suggestions to amend the itinerary slightly, which improved our experience even more.
Our family were really thrilled to see such a huge variety of wildlife, some of which were incredibly close. James was always mindful of the animals welfare which was important! We were so lucky to see the migration in the Mara and also there were many other highlights including the Ark, Naivasha, Nakuru, Amboseli and Tiwi beach for relaxation.
James is a superb driver .... whether in the chaotic traffic in Nairobi or the challenges of rough tracks on safari. He was always so kind and patient and very friendly. We wish him and his lovely family all the best.
