An Unforgettable Safari Experience with Max & Meru Slopes!
Our safari with Max was truly the adventure of a lifetime! We traveled with Meru Slopes, and choosing them was honestly one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. But the real magic came from having Max as our guide.
He is not only an incredible guide but also an amazing driver — he always knew exactly where to go, like he had a secret map only he could read. We felt safe, excited, and always in the best spot at the perfect moment. We absolutely loved our dinners together, chatting about life in Tanzania, laughing, and learning so much about the country, the culture, and the wildlife. Max was always caring, patient, and SO funny! We truly felt like we were traveling with a friend, not just a guide. 💛Some of our friends and family were surprised that we decided to travel to Tanzania on our own and book a local operator instead of a travel agency from our home country. And honestly, we didn’t fully know what to expect either. But the entire experience with Meru Slopes was extremely professional from start to finish, and we can wholeheartedly recommend them.
Just make sure you ask for Max — he is simply the best and made our safari absolutely unforgettable!

Going on safari with Meru Slopes felt less like booking a tour and more like joining a top-tier wild
Going on safari with Meru Slopes felt less like booking a tour and more like joining a top-tier wildlife dream team.
Nuru, our guide, has an eyesight that defies biology. While other jeeps drove past bushes thinking they were… well, bushes, Nuru casually pointed out animals that apparently lived in another dimension. Leopards? Lions? Rare birds? He spotted everything — and always positioned the vehicle perfectly so we had the kind of views people usually only get from documentaries. In the evenings he turned into a philosopher-storyteller hybrid, sharing wisdom and tales that made dinner feel like a campfire with an old friend.
Gideon, our chef, is a magician disguised as a cook. The man produced feasts — plural! — in the middle of the wilderness, under conditions that would make most kitchens cry. Every meal was generous, delicious, and different from the one before. And he served everything with a smile big enough to light up the savannah.
And then there was Herman, second guide, driver, and quite possibly the kindest person on Earth. He was endlessly polite, endlessly helpful, and genuinely caring. He gave us an unforgettable tour through Arusha, and when our flight suddenly got rescheduled, he didn’t hesitate for a second — he offered, on his own, to drive us to the airport in the middle of the night. Who does that? Legends do.
Meru Slopes was an experience shaped by people who love what they do — and it shows. If you want wildlife, wonder and the warmest company imaginable, go with them.

Great Camping Safari with excellent guide
We had an amazing time at our 6 days (4 days driving) safari with meru slopes. From the transfer from JRO at night (3 a.m.) until our transfer to Nairobi 6 days later, everything was perfectly organized and we did not have to worry about anything.
Our tour guide/ driver Jacob was really exceptional. He knows the best spots to see interesting animals (we saw all big 5, ugly 5 and quite some action), provides a lot of information, drives safe and still has a smile on his face after 12 hours of driving.
In addition, our cook Dula provided us with tasty meals 3 times a day, that left nothing to be desired.
They really provide great value for money and an exceptional experience. Huge recommendation!
A Safari as one dreams of
The 6-days Safari with our German speaking guide Julius was unique. We were able to admire the Big Five and also now have seen thousends of wildbeast and zebras. And to our great delight we also discovered two young leopards on a tree, who even let themselves be photograhed extensively in peace. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Our thanks go espeacially to Julius, who greets us with a smile and took care of us until the very last minute, until we boarded the Bus from Arusha to Nairobi.

Amazing Safari tour planner
We recently did a 6 day/ 5 night safari vacation in Tanzania with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris. Our tour took us through the Serengeti, Lake Natron, Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. The experience was superb! Along the way we stayed at multiple locations including hotels and tented lodges and enjoyed a hot air balloon ride.
We hung out with the Maasai, experienced days and nights in the park nights of course saw the animals in the wild. We saw the big 5, ugly 5 and a multitude of other animals... It was INCREDIBLE. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
From the pick up at the airport, to the initial meeting on the first morning with Almachius providing us that briefing of what to expect and general safety tips to the final day when they took us back to the airport it was a success.
Our guide and driver Douglas ensured that we had a safe and enjoyable experience, sharing information about Tanzanian history, culture and the animals along the way. He was very knowledgeable and patient understanding that you can't rush nature.
Almachius was also very responsive when we were planning the trip.
Thanks again to Douglas and Almachius for coordinating a great safari.... Asante Sana!

Unforgettable safari experience
We looked at a few different tour operators but went with Meru Slopes because they are local Tanzanian business, prompt with their responses, put together a safari package tailored exactly to what we wanted, and their prices were reasonable. Almachius was our coordinator and he was great to deal with. We had a monster 9 day itinerary: Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Natron, Serengeti (including a sunrise balloon ride) Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Mataruni Waterfall/ Kilimanjaro. Almachius handed us off to our expert guide Santaely (Ely) on day 2 in Arusha. Ely was a terrific driver and guide, answering all our questions about everything from the local geography, facts about the wildlife, plants, birds, Masai people, African/Tanzanian life and culture. Ely took care of every detail for us on the tour, he was super professional and worked with us every day to make sure we were having the best experiences possible. Also he was an excellent discoverer of wildlife in the parks (Mr Eagle Eyes) and we got up close and personal with more wildlife than we ever hoped to see. We never felt rushed, always felt safe and we had a lot of fun. The experience was unforgettable and I have the most amazing photo and video to remember it all. The accommodations were all fine, no complaints. Everything was as advertised in the brochures. We especially enjoyed glamping in the Serengeti park with the nightlife sounds, and also the Lake Natron tent camp with its gorgeous sunset view of the lake and mountains. Food was buffet breakfast and dinner at the lodges, and boxed lunches out in the parks (lunch under acacia on the savannah = wow). We had to end our Safari one day early (no fault of Meru Slopes) and Ely and Amalchius really stepped up their customer service at that point to take care of us and get us on our way and we are very grateful for that. I dream of returning again and if I do I would book again with Ely and the Meru Slopes team.

Meru Slopes brought our dream adventure to life come true!
We started communicating with Jerome in March, and he was always prompt, courteous, and responsive to all our inquiries. About a month before our scheduled trip, we decided to add another person to our group. Meru Slopes was very accommodating and made the necessary revisions to our booking without any issues. Despite several back-and-forth emails, Jerome’s communication remained clear, professional, and reassuring throughout the process.
Our tour guide, Douglas, was kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife and local culture. He made the entire experience both enjoyable and educational, ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care of every step of the way. Thanks to his sharp eyes and experience, we were lucky enough to see all Big Five—something we’ll never forget!
From the smooth booking process to the personalized attention during the tour, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent, the cost was very reasonable, and the overall experience was truly outstanding.
Meru Slopes turned our dream safari into reality, and we can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone planning a trip to Tanzania!

They organized an excellent safari and provided us with an amazing guide.
Our safari in Tanzania was an amazing experience. Almachius promptly responded to my questions and adapted the mid-range, private safari according to our requests. Our accommodations were well-located, comfortable and each one included a private bathroom. Our guide, Nuru, was knowledgeable and had eagle eyes. We saw more animals than we had even hoped to see. We appreciated the pick up from the airport and tour of Arusha, as well as the drop off the evening before our flight. We felt safe and well-cared for.

Amazing
We booked the six-day private safari. It was great that we could customize the program in advance to our wishes. We had a fantastic experience with guide and driver Robert, who knew how to find all the animals. Chef Rachid cooked delicious meals for us every day. We even had a hot meal at lunch. Everything was arranged for us, even the car was cleaned daily. When our car broke down (out of the driver's control), a different guide (Rachid) was arranged. The accommodations were basic, but that's what we had booked, so it met our expectations. Meru Slopes is a reliable company that offers great value for money.
Very helpful with everything.
This was the most perfect safari tour. Mary slopes prepared everything for us during the whole tour, food, drinks, tents and sleeping bags. We didn’t have to worry about anything more than just enjoying the views. We had the best guide, chef and group. It was definitely worth the money. We had contact with Jerome prior to our tour and he was very friends and answered all of our questions.
