Leslie was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, experienced, fun, helpful and friendly.
My husband and I joined our adult son for a weeklong northern Tanzania safari before he had a work commitment in Rwanda. We only had a few weeks to plan and our timing required us to go in early May, the end of the rainy season. Tanzania Choice Safaris was easy since Brenda, a cofounder, is an ex-pat. They created a great itinerary, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti that included plenty of the Big Five, especially lots of lions!, plus wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, impala, velvet monkey, gazelle, cheetah, jackal, baboon, eland, monitor lizard, hyena, warthog and others.
Tanzania Choice Safari found good accommodations to match our midrange budget. In Ngorongoro we stayed at the Serena Lodge where local Maasai performed. I was invited to dance with them!
By far, what made our Safari most exceptional was our fantastic guide Leslie. From the minute he greeted us at Mount Kilimanjaro Int’l with his great smile to his seeing us depart at the airport in the Serengeti… he took wonderful care of us. He gave us each our own water thermos, journal and pen. Leslie, with over 10 years of experience, was very knowledgeable about the animals and their habits, the landscapes, people and history of Tanzania. We learned much!
He found out I had an interest in birds and took care to always point out each “new bird”, showing me its picture in his well worn East African Bird book and often sharing more about their mating, nesting and other behaviors. I loved this about him and we had fun finding a “new bird” all week long.
Its supposedly harder to spot animals in the rainy season due to the tall grasses. But Leslie is a determined, exceptional guide and optimized our wildlife encounters. In Ngorongoro he suggested we depart from our lodge at 6 am to get down in the crater at sunrise. We were so pleased he got us there early because we caught a big pride of lions next to the road finishing up a kill from the night before.
He was very accommodating, setting up lovely picnics, answering all our questions, very kind and just a lot of fun.
We felt like we won the lottery with Leslie. I teared up when hugging him goodbye. We will always hold a special place in my heart for this trip and for Leslie.

Noel was a fantastic guide
We had a wonderful experience with Tanzania Choice Safaris.
Brenda arranged our travel and stay very smoothly, and attended to any changes in plans and unexpected circumstances quickly and effectively. She created plans for our review and made it easy to arrange the whole trip.
Noel was a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable and where he did not have a piece of information at his fingertips, he had books on birds and animals in the Serengeti to which he would quickly refer, and share the information with us. Our kids peppered him with questions that he always was willing to discuss and engage on. He knew the area inside out and also discussed and adjusted our itenarary based on our interests. We spent the first day in Ngoro Ngoro and then entered the Serengeti through the South. Over our five days we covered a lot of ground. We started with a marvellous viewing of three cheetahs, moved on to the central region, then spent a day exploring the early days of the wildebeest migration. On the last day we went up north, to explore crocodiles on the river Mara. In addition to seeing lots of animals, we also really enjoyed the landscape, getting details on the plants and vegetation, and the social patterns of animal behaviour. It was amazing to see a Imphala male chase a possible competitor from among a group of young bachelors to send a strong message to other competitors and his herd. In many cases, we were able to get away from crowded areas and savour the peace and vastness of the savannah. Noel seemed to enjoy and share in our enthusiasm, and was good company during out travels. I have no doubt that his skill and warm personality were key to our very enjoyable trip.
Our family strongly recommends Tanzania Choice Safaris and particularly appreciate Noel's role in making our trip memorable.

Our guide was resourceful, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
We had a wonderful safari and saw many animals. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the things we saw and would point out things to teach us about. He kept in contact with others to stay in the know of animal sightings.
We had a delightful lunch as well. It was a great experience I’d recommend to anyone and that is love to do again.

OUTSTANDING!
The owners of Tanzania Choice Safaris, Brenda and Kakasii, helped us curate an extended trip to Tanzania for 19 travelers. This was the second trip they led us on (the other being in 2019) and they exceeded expectations both times! Communication during the planning time was exceptional and responsive. They went above and beyond to work with local TZ organizations to set up very specific requests and they thought of everything we may need to have a successful trip. We worked at a girls school for 4 days and they even had their chef on site to ensure we were not a burden to the school for meals. They managed all logistics and accommodations (both were perfect for our large group) and constantly had "surprises" for us...everything from entertainment to special dishes. During Safaris at Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park, the guides were extremely knowledgeable and engaging and ensured we got the best viewing options of the wildlife. We will use them again and I give them a 20 out of 10 rating! I highly recommend them to anyone considering Tanzania and beyond.

From the moment we left, we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Leslie, who was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about conservation and the local culture. Both days, the game drive felt like a new discovery—lions lounging in the tree, elephants marching across the plains, giraffes grazing gracefully, and some close encounters with the monkeys during lunch. Leslie knew exactly where to go and always prioritized the animals’ well-being, which made the experience feel respectful and authentic.
The accommodations at Simba Lodge were stunning—luxurious yet perfectly blended with the natural surroundings. Falling asleep to the sounds of the wild and waking up to the soft glow of sunrise was surreal. The food was exceptional, with delicious local dishes and thoughtful touches like sunset snacks and fireside relaxing under the stars.
What really stood out was the heart behind the operation. The staff treated us like family, and we learned so much about the culture, history, and efforts to protect the land and animals for future generations. It was more than just a safari—it was an inspiring, soul-filling journey.

Easily the best vacation ever!
We were visiting friends in Dar es Salaam and wanted to do a safari for my 12 year old daughter and I and they recommended Tanzania Choice - and it was perfect! Brenda made the communication before we arrived very easy - asking what we wanted and making sure we knew what was likely given the time of year and options we had. She even checked in just a week before arrival to make sure that our eVisas got processed smoothly since the government was running behind! Noel picked us up from the airport and everything went so unbelievably smoothly. Literally everything went as scheduled from arrival to departure. We visited Arusha, Tarangire, and Serengeti national parks and Ngorogoro crater, peppered with a canoe trip (watching flamingos take off from the water just in front of us was a highlight for me), hot air balloon ride (the view was amazing) and a visit to the Olduvai Gorge Museum and historic site (wow, so much history). These 'extras' broke everything up in such a smooth way. But Noel was just amazing - I feel like he had xray vision for the animals, and really knew how to 'read' their movements. Such as watching a herd of zebras and then just figuring out where the lions were resting when all the other guides gave up and moved on. And I loved how he just responded to our whims - one day focused on birds, another on baby animals - and making sure that we had an amazing experience each and every day. I also can't say enough about the accommodations. We did mostly tents - and they were awesome, bathrooms and showers inside, with marabou storks and zebras roaming around just outside! I would recommend Tanzania Choice in an instant, because of the preparation, knowledge and just ease of working with them. Thanks Noel!!! You rock.

Tanzania Choice is a reliable, high-quality tour operator which is worth the money you pay them.
We are a German couple aged 50/57 with a 20 year-long history of safaris in Eastern and South-Eastern Africa (Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Ruanda, Tanzania) and of travels in other parts of the world; and we´re quite "spoiled" by now.

First Class All the Way!
Every portion of this trip was seamless. From the pick up at the airport to the airport drop-off there were no hiccups and excellent service and value. Each safari guide was knowledgeable and their unique personality made for an different experience each day. The lodging was all first class, with excellent food, superior service and tremendous hospitality. We were part of a church mission trip and all aspects of our trip were superb.

Great experience from start to finish with Tanzania Choice Safaris
Based on a friend’s recommendation, we booked a week of game drives in the Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park with Tanzania Choice. I cannot say enough good things about our experience! Brenda did a fabulous job organizing our adventure - she was responsive to all our questions, offered valuable insights, and managed our somewhat complicated travel plan with ease. We loved the written guidance she provided about how to prepare for and what to expect from our safari. The lodgings she selected for us were great, and the food everywhere was much, much better than I expected. I felt like we got great value for our money! Transportation from our hotel in Dodoma (where we were engaged in non-Safari activities) to Karatu for our first game drive was seamless, and we enjoyed the ride with Kakasii. Our driver for the week was Leslie, and he was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the animals we encountered, had a great sense of humor, and was adept at finding perfect viewing locations for us even when a particular spot was overrun with cars. We saw all of the big 5 plus incredible wildlife encounters (a cheetah chasing down a gazelle). If I could give a 100-star rating for Tanzania Choice Safaris, I would!
