The Ultimate Northern Tanzania Safari Experience
5/5

An unforgettable safari adventure from start in Arusha to finish. Kelvin from Meru Slopes worked with the two of us to tailor the perfect itinerary - which we did! Included were Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP (where we did a balloon ride with Miracle Experience - highly recommended), Ngorongoro Crater and Lakes Natron & Manyara.
We saw many different wild animals, had comfortable accommodation (including luxury tents) had lots of great buffet meals, all included in our package. We really enjoyed our daily packed picnic lunches and travel in our great safari 4x4 Landcruiser! Our driver, Godfrey Kito-Mary, was very obliging and very knowledgeable, and his driving four-wheel driving skills were very impressive indeed.
Meru Slopes were very professional and really know their stuff. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Unforgettable Trip
5/5

Abraham was the best guide we could have wished for! Thanks to him, we saw all of the Big Five — he was incredibly attentive and even went the extra mile to find a leopard for us.

Our cook was also amazing, preparing absolutely delicious meals for us every morning, afternoon, and evening.

All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a more caring team.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip unforgettable!

Fantasic 8 days!
5/5

Our recent safari trip to Tanzania was absolutely incredible, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience arranged by Meru Slopes and Safaris. From the very beginning, everything was organized seamlessly — from airport pickup to accommodation, meals, and daily game drives. To make the trip more comfortable and convenient, we have also been provided with free local SIM cards, cold drinks and even beers on the jeep.

A special thanks to our local guide, Allan, who truly made the journey exceptional. His deep knowledge of wildlife, sharp eyes for spotting animals, and warm personality added so much value to our trip. Thanks to him, we were lucky enough to see all of the “Big Five” — lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos, in close distance — along with countless other species in their natural habitat.

One of the most unforgettable moments was witnessing the wildebeest river crossing — an awe-inspiring sight that left us speechless. Every day brought new surprises and breathtaking landscapes, from the Serengeti plains to the Ngorongoro Crater.

Overall, the trip far exceeded our expectations. The service was professional and thoughtful throughout, and every detail was handled with care. We came home with beautiful memories, thousands of photos, and a deep appreciation for Tanzania’s stunning wildlife and hospitality of the people. Highly recommended to anyone dreaming of a true Tanzania safari adventure!

5/5

8 days safari tours in Serengeti, Ngorongo with my friends. Best trip in my life and great choice with Meru Slopes. Great communication with the manager and plan so well for the whole Safari. Our guide Moody is very professional and nice to explain all the details with animals. He helps us find almost all the animals we want to see and good sense of humour. I will recommend the Moody and meru slopes to everyone who wants to experience safari in Tanzania.

A Life-Altering Safari with the Incredible Guide, Max! Beyond the Big Five!
5/5

Where does one even begin to describe a journey that recalibrates your soul? Our 7-day Tanzanian safari was not merely a holiday; it was a profound immersion into the raw, untamed heart of Africa, an experience so perfectly orchestrated that it felt like a dream. From the moment we landed to the tearful goodbye, every element was flawless, but the true magic was delivered by our exceptional guide and driver, Max.

Our adventure’s primary goal was to witness the legendary Big Five. With Max at the helm, it felt less like a hope and more like a foregone conclusion. His sharp, trained eyes, honed over a decade of experience, spotted what we would have driven past a hundred times. We witnessed a pride of lions, majestic and lazy in the golden afternoon sun. We held our breath as a massive leopard draped itself over an acacia branch, its tail swinging lazily. A herd of formidable Cape buffalo stared us down with an intimidating presence, while a rhino was a rare and special sight in the distance. The climax was a close, heart-pounding encounter with a family of elephants, including adorable calves, which Max expertly positioned us to observe without causing any distress. To see all five was a check on a lifelong bucket list, but Max gave us the stories and context behind each sighting.

But the magic of Tanzania isn't just in its poster animals. Max, with his infectious enthusiasm for all creatures, introduced us to the wonderfully Ugly Five. He made the warthogs with their comical run, the endearingly hideous marabou stork, the wildebeest with its awkward stature, the naked neck of the vulture, and the hyena with its peculiar gait into stars of their own show. He taught us about their critical roles in the ecosystem, turning what could be dismissed as "ugly" into fascinating examples of evolutionary adaptation. This added a rich, educational layer to the game drives we hadn't even known we wanted.

Our journey through the Serengeti was an experience of pure, unadulterated wilderness. The word "vast" doesn't do it justice. It is an ocean of grass, a seemingly endless horizon that makes you feel both insignificant and completely connected to the planet. We experienced the great migration—a river of wildebeest and zebra stretching to the horizon, a chaotic, dusty, and awe-inspiring spectacle of life and death. The soundtrack of the Serengeti—the whoop of hyenas at night, the distant roar of a lion—is something you can't get from any documentary. Staying in a camp here, as you fell asleep to these sounds, was the definition of being truly alive.

A stark and beautiful contrast to the Serengeti’s plains was the Ngorongoro Crater. Descending into this UNESCO World Heritage site felt like entering a lost world. The sheer purity and serenity of the crater lake and its surrounding landscape is breathtaking. The caldera walls create a natural enclosure for an unbelievable density of wildlife. Here, we saw flamingos painting the lake shore pink and witnessed a thrilling standoff between lions and hyenas. The air is cooler, the landscape greener, and the sense of peace is palpable. It’s a pristine, self-contained ecosystem that feels like a secret garden of Eden.

None of these incredible sights would have been the same without Max. He was so much more than a driver; he was our teacher, protector, and friend. His professionalism was evident in everything he did. His Toyota Land Cruiser was impeccably maintained and clean every single day. He had an uncanny ability to anticipate animal movements, often getting us to the perfect spot just before a magical scene unfolded, avoiding the crowds. His knowledge of animal behavior, bird calls, and botany was encyclopedic. He didn't just name the animals; he told us their stories—their social structures, their habits, their struggles.

What set Max apart was his genuine passion and infectious warmth. He shared in our excitement for every single sighting, from a majestic leopard to a tiny, colorful agama lizard. Over our seven days together, he felt like part of our family. His responsibility and meticulous nature were a constant comfort; we always felt completely safe in his hands, whether navigating tricky terrain or giving a respectful distance to a potentially dangerous animal. He was a master of his craft, and his dedication to giving us the best possible experience was evident in his tireless work ethic.

Finally, the meals and camp accommodations were the perfect complement to the wild surroundings. The food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. We enjoyed hearty breakfasts before dawn, lovely bush lunches under the shade of an acacia tree, and beautifully prepared three-course dinners. The camps we stayed in were absolutely magical. Falling asleep under a blanket of stars you never knew existed, listening to the sounds of the African night, and waking up to the sun rising over the savannah was an integral part of the experience. It was comfortable and welcoming, yet always maintained a deep connection to the natural world.

In conclusion, if you are dreaming of Tanzania, do not hesitate. And if you have the incredible fortune to request a guide, ask for Max. He transformed our trip from a simple wildlife viewing vacation into a deep, educational, and soul-stirring journey. He gave us the Big Five, celebrated the Ugly Five, and guided us through the heart of the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater with unparalleled skill and passion. Thank you, Max, for the trip of a lifetime. We will be back

High quality of safari and service
5/5

We booked a 6 day private Migration Safari in September 2025 with Meru Slopes Tours. We had a wonderful experience, the lodges in- and outside the parks we visited were fantastic and thanks to our guide and driver Douglas we saw a lot of animals, including the big five and the Mara River crossing. Douglas is very experienced and we felt always safe with him. The car was in good condition and never had any issues during our safari (we saw a lot of other cars having problems because of the bumpy roads).
During the booking process we got regular updates about accommodation changes and all our questions were answered immediately by Jerome. Overall we can highly recommend Meru Slopes Tours.

Service minded and trustworthy
5/5

Have been on a fantastic shared budget safari with Meru Slopes. Visited Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. The whole experience was even better than promised. The campsites were much fresher than expected and having your own chef who served good hot food three times a day was very unexpected and appreciated. We also had a lot of nice animal encounters and were well looked after throughout the trip. The fact that transfers from and to the airport and hotels with half board were included the day before and after the safari was also a big plus. Can definitely recommend Meru slopes to those of you looking for a very affordable safari!

Safari Adventure of a lifetime!
5/5

My husband and I went on this safari with her two friends. I must say this was a most amazing experience of my life. Our guide Gordie, our chef Rashid along with our tour guide Kennedy for the day trip of Kilimanjaro were all amazing.
We were able to see the majority of the animals that we were told we would see. The Great Migration was a sight to behold. We felt very fortunate that we were able to witness this spectacular event. The Care and attention we received from this tour company was top notch. On the day we were supposed to depart and head back home we were dropped off at the airport. Kennedy did not leave our side and thankfully so because our flight had been canceled and we couldn't leave until the following day. Kennedy refused to leave until we were all settled and then him and Herman took us to our hotel for the night. I cannot say enough and how pleased we were with the care we were given. My husband had had a heart attack on July 18th and they helped in every way they could to make this trip for him doable. Thank you again to them Meru slopes tour company and their guides!
