Incredible
We did a 3-day safari in the Masai Mara, and while it can feel a bit overwhelming at first because there are so many agencies to choose from, we honestly couldn't have been luckier with ours — especially with our guide, Bryan.
Safaris always involve an element of luck — spotting animals depends on so many factors — but one thing we've learned is that a good guide makes *all* the difference. And Bryan Ondigo went above and beyond. He was professional, super knowledgeable, clearly passionate about his work, and made the whole experience unforgettable. Every time he said his classic “Surprise, surprise”, we knew something incredible was coming… and it always was!
We came in with low expectations, thinking seeing the Big Five on our first safari was close to impossible — or that if we did see lions, they’d be miles away. But we honestly lost count of how many lions we saw: some having breakfast on a buffalo, others in the middle of a hunt… absolutely unreal.
Of course, not every safari is the same, but having a committed guide like Bryan Ondigo changes everything. Also, the communication with the agency beforehand was great — they answered all our questions quickly and clearly, and everything was well organized from the start.
All in all, this was a 15/10 safari. If we ever come back — or if anyone asks us for a recommendation — we wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

An unforgettable safari with Brian!
Our safari in the Masai Mara was an incredible experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide and driver, Brian Ondigo. He was amazing from start to finish - super knowledgeable, friendly, and always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
Brian knew exactly where to go and how to time everything perfectly. We managed to see so many animals, including lots of lions - we even watched them hunting and eating wild hogs, which was just unbelievable! He always got us in the best spots to see the animals up close, and you can see from the photos we’ve shared how incredible those moments were.
What we really appreciated most was how easygoing and kind Brian was. He made us feel completely at ease and made the whole experience smooth and fun.
If you ever go on safari in the Masai Mara, definitely ask for Brian Ondigo. You’ll be in the best hands, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

Perfect days in Masai Mara
I had an amazing experience with the Maasai Mara safari guide service and would highly recommend it to others. Our guide, Peter, was outstanding — he had an incredible ability to anticipate the movements of the animals, which allowed us to see them at the best possible moments. Thanks to his deep knowledge and keen instincts, we were able to enjoy unforgettable wildlife encounters. Truly a five-star experience!
Thank you so much Peter kapino!

Bucket List Item
I loved seeing Maasai Mara, Nakuru and Naivasha. It was definitely a bucket list trip. I was a solo female traveler and I was on a shared land cruiser. Our guide Jimey made the whole trip much more amazing. Truly recommend it. Amazing!

Tour Guide 10/10, The Company 7/10
Our guide Jimmy is fantastic! He is professional, friendly, helpful and has excellent driving skills. He has eagerly done his best to let us see all kinds of wildlife. He is very knowledgeable and informative, too. He deserves a 10/10 rating.
Before my booking, I had clarified clearly many questions with Jocky Tour customer service by email, among those are maximum number of participants, bottled water supply, accommodation and optional items:
i) The company promised the maximum number of participants would be 7 including the guide, and this was the main reason why I chose Jocky Tour; but eventually our tour had 8 people including the guide. Yet I understand this might be the industry's common practice to maximize their resources.
ii) 1L per day of bottled water per day per guest had been promised but bottled water ran out in the 3rd day. Luckily this didn't cause much a problem as I had my water refill at the accommodation sites.
iii) I had explicitly requested staying in Buraha Zenoni (8.9 rating on Trip.com) for the 3rd night but again we became staying at Hillcourt Resort (6 rating on Trip.com). Luckily except the defective faucet in my room, I had a restful night in Hillcourt.
iv) The optional item of boat ride in Lake Naivasha costing USD30 was communicated in email beforehand. Only when we arrived at the Hippo Boat operator did we know that the total cost is USD30 for boat ride plus USD20 for a short safari walk. The walk (~45min) was conducted by a guide named Samuel who spoke extremely softly that it seemed he didn't care whether you could hear him or not. In the latter part of the walk, he did not speak at all but just led the way and we just kept walking continuously for like >2o minutes. But the boat ride is good though.
However, Jocky Tour's customer services were quick and precise. The jeep was powerful for rugged roads. Group tour's price was fair, and that's why I should not have expected too much. Programme was delivered as promised.

Unethical at its best
So, as wildlife conservationist, we wanted to experience our first ever Safari and what better place than the Massai Mara ?
we decided to trust the good reviews this Tour Operator has and booked a 6 days safari through the Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli.
That was a mistake.
I don't know how is it possible that so many people are blindfold about what is going on in Mara but Jocky Tour is definitly part of the problem. I never seen so much unethical behavior to satisfy clients on a game drive. It was not just our guide, it was all of them. Jocky Tour is responsible because it pushes those kind of behavior, to satisfy their clients, to have a cool selfie and when I confronted them about it they had nothing to say anymore. We were next to a lioness with 2 cubs, hiding in bush, the car was at less than 2 METERS away, stressing them, phones ringing, two guides from two different companies talking to each other loudly. It was 50 plus cars in front of a lioness with a kill, she didn't know what to do anymore. 50 plus cars again cercling a scared leopard in a bush to get a photo. Loud engines, people talking loudly, cars trying to get in front of one another for their guests to have a better view, it was pure chaos. When I confronted our guide about it, he told me that he'll try to stay discret and keep a safe distance from the animals. But nontheless, one poor cheetah with 40 plus cars around latter during the day was the nail in the coffin for us. All those tour operators are killing the Mara, one of the last wild jewel of Africa, all that for short term profit and to satisfy clients that think it's a zoo. It changes animal behavior and causing so much damage on the land to have so much vehicules with no regulations!
Studies shows that cheetah to have less cubs in the Mara because of the stress caused by all this. Lionesses loose kills, buffalos can't escape anymore, blocked by army of people and let's not talk about the great migration... There is countless and coutless exemple of thoses abuses.
Also, the program was not followed, as we should have had a full day in the Mara but insead it was cut short ta have the optional visit of a Massai village. Which is also a big joke as it doesn't look authentic at all, it is more of a show for tourists.
PLEASE, if you read this, make sure your tour operator is not some kind of money profit, selfish organisation like Jocky Tour that doesn't think about the environnement and the damage it causes. Make sure they are ethical and that their guides are well trained and aware about animals safety. I understand that everybody doesn't have the money for the private experience which is our case at the moment. But we still left the safari at the end of the first day. Even if we're not getting our money back because we didn't finish it (and I don't mind paying the parc fees), we don't want to be involve and witness something like this EVER again. So save a little more money but make sure you go there to respect the place and enjoyed it for it's true value, to keep it as wild as possible.
