Most Amazing Experience!
5/5

Growing up in Africa and knowing how service delivery can be at times, I can highly recommend Home to Africa for anyone planning a trip to Uganda or Rwanda! They by far exceeded our expectations. My wife and I came up with the idea to go to Uganda and go gorilla trekking literally a week before our departure date. Elias and his team were on top of everything from the get go and within minutes of emailing him I received a reply with a detailed four day itinerary tailored specifically around our schedule and flight times.
Once we arrived in Uganda we were met by our excellent guide Julius who looked after us during our tour and also drove us around the country safely in sometimes challenging conditions. He also went the extra mile and took us down to Lake Victoria before our flight back home as we arrived a bit early in Entebbe.
Everywhere we went our accommdation was comfortable, clean and had the most spectacular views, especially the gorilla camp which looked out over the Bwindi forest. The food was good and the beers were cold.
The absolute highlight of our trip was the gorilla trek and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something different in life. It is extremely well organised and groups are kept small (only 8 people per group) which makes the expereince just so much better. Nothing can really prepare you for seeing these animals in the wild and natural habitat for the first time.
Elias and his team are extremely professional and Elias even phoned me before our flight back home to follow up and make sure everything went according to plan. We would love to return one day and spend more time in this beautiful country.

Diverse itinerary, great lodging and meals, good price for experiences, an amazing adventure!
5/5

The communications were good, but few, so one has to be good following up or comfortable that all is being taken care of. One suggestion to this company is to write a list of necessary items and actions, ie links to Visa, inoculations required, best items to pack, etc. Once the itinerary was set communication was minimal but Elias answered every email of mine sufficiently. The service was great! we were picked up at Entebbe airport late (2300) by a smiling Sam, our next 8-day driver and guide and he toured us through the parks and lodging and joined us for several meals. He even stopped for birds along the route. Sam had excellent knowledge of the country, politics, wildlife. For my comfort, he should slow down through the communities since there are people, animals and motorcycles on the narrow roads. Our expectations of this trip were met and soared above, everything, even the incredible thunder storm in the middle of our first morning (sleeping), was fabulous! Hiking to see gorillas and walking with the chimps were favorite treks. Food was AWESOME, and we are vegetarians (but eat some dairy and fish), and there were delicious vegan meals too. Our favorite lodging was at The Bush Lodge, where when we turned out our patio tent lights, a hippo and water buffalo foraged nearby, and slightly further away, a lion roared! On our last day Elias had a guide/driver from Lake Bunyonyi (ahhh, talk about relaxing!) take us to Rwandan border, while Oscar, met us and patiently waited while we went through customs. He is Rwandan so knew the country well and took us to lunch and then the Genocide museum before taking us to the airport. He was a most excellent driver. We like that Home To Africa gives back to the community and is a Ugandan-based tour company. Yes, we highly recommend them!

Amazing experiences in Uganda with Home To Africa
5/5

We have just returned from an 11 day to Uganda with Home To Africa. Everything went incredibly smoothly. Our guide, Sam, was knowledgeable, friendly and open to just about any conversation. We saw all the animals we had hoped for (gorillas, chimps, lions, giraffes, zebras and elephants) and a myriad of different types of antelope. The leopard remained elusive so we may have to come back! Sam is an excellent spotter and he also knows birds very well. This was our first visit to Africa and first safari. A memorable trip indeed.

The office team was responsive from first inquiry through the booking process and beyond. All our questions were answered, usually within a few hours in spite of an 8-hour time difference. This was an easy trip to arrange and the staff deserves all the credit.

As a bonus, Home To Africa supports local charity works. In addition to the donation they make when you book, we had the opportunity to visit a local community and meet children - mostly orphaned - for whom we had brought school supplies and clothing. This was a very special opportunity to experience Uganda.

Excellent 7 days private safari: Clear recommendation!
5/5

I did a 7-day private Safari with Home to Africa and have been very pleased with the trip itself, the planning and communication beforehand and the value for money I received. Home to Africa has been very responsive, managed to organize my trip just one week before my arrival (including obtaining a permit for gorilla tracking) and have tailored my trip to my exact wishes. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Pick Home to Africa...You won't be sorry!
5/5

Thank you Home to Africa for an unforgettable first trip to Africa. We planned our trip around gorilla trekking and had no idea we would be seeing so much more of Rwanda and Uganda. It truly was a spectacular itinerary. Starting off in Rwanda, we were met at the airport by our guide Oscar who drove a safe and clean Toyota SUV. Oscar took great care of us, the Rwandan accomodations were perfect, and we highly recommend the Kigali Genocide memorial and the golden monkey trekking. After a few days, we were "handed over" to our guide Paul for our safari in Uganda. Paul was the quintessential host. He confidently navigated many long days of driving. He made sure we were settled in safely each night at our accomodations and welcomed us each morning with a smile and an organized itinerary. He never seemed rushed when we were spotting wildlife and birds and is quite the wildlife expert including birding. We even changed our plans for our last day which Paul accommodated happily. We couldn't have asked for a better guide to show us all the wonders of Uganda. We highly recommend gorilla trekking in Bwindi, the game drive in Queen Elizabeth, the game drive in Lake Mburo, and the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. And I can't end this review without mentioning Elias. Elias was by our side every step of the way from the initial online contact to our last day of our tour. Available for questions and concerns almost 24-7, Elias gave us the peace of mind we needed to sit back, relax, and enjoy our first trip to Africa. He chose wonderful accomodations that were authentic enough to give us an experience but equipped enough for our modern needs. He put together a comprehensive itinerary that allowed us to see almost every park and almost every animal that Uganda and Rwanda has to offer. And he made sure we knew who our guides were going to be ahead of time, ensuring us that we were going to be safe and in good hands. When considering the many safari company options, I implore you to consider Home to Africa. They truly are the best of the best!!

First trip to Uganda
5/5

Our first trip to Uganda was great. Home to Africa Tours and Travel looked after us well. We were very lucky to see the tree climbing lions in Ishasha, had great sightings of the Gorillas up close. By chance ended up in a Chimp trek instead of a nature walk. That was fantastic, would have been very disappointed to have missed it and learnt it was an option to do instead of a nature walk, definitely clients should be advised of this option. The travel company cannot be blamed for the state of the roads in parts of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, but it would have good to advise clients of it in advance, plus the lengthy duration of travel between each place on the itinerary. I myself requested most of the lodges, but didn't realise per example there was an hours drive from Park View Safari Lodge to where we would be doing the safari. That would have influenced my decision on where to stay. In saying that Park View was a fantastic lodge.
