TRAVELLERS BEWARE OF BOOKING
Where do I start? So we went on an amazing African Safari that we booked with another tour group . It was amazing. The flights the transfers the food the value. Everything was beyond our wildest dreams . My husband wanted a 5* Beach experience for 6 nights on a beautiful white sandy walking beach where we could be spoiled a little after the early mornings and long days on safari. As we hadn’t had a honeymoon after our recent wedding my husband Booked Dream of Zanzibar. Location was perfect for the excursions we wanted to go on , the beach was also what we were looking for ,premium food and drinks and service. After finishing our safari in Arusha we stayed the night before catching flight to Zanzibar. This is the email I received from Paradise & Wilderness -
*Trust this email finds you well,
Please be advised that we have just have just received word that some of our rooms are under maintenance this week at Dream of Zanzibar and have been closed, so we are unable to accommodate your booking at Dream of Zanzibar from the 12th - 18th Feb 2025, however we do nit want to leave our guest stranded so we have secured accommodation for you at our sister property - Reef and Beach resort, in our New Ocean Front Rooms for the duration of your stay.*

We booked it May 2024 and paid in full Jan 27 at which time I would think they would have had an idea the room was not available.

Upon googling the new accommodation the Reef & Beach was a 3*- we were less than happy. I spent the day researching other accommodations to no avail. We did appreciate they put us somewhere but it was no where compared to what we booked and paid $$$ for.
The resort was 20 min further from the airport and stone town. Upon arrival at reception it was old and worn we were not greeted with enthusiasm and that’s what began the downhill experience . There was no white sandy walking beach . It was a seaweed farm for a beach and upon the tide going out was all rocks. The room upon entering had a foul smell. They moved us to a recently cleaned room and after 6 hours it too had a nasty odour. Something with the new rooms. We met the manager Deborah -who I can give a raving review about she went above and beyond to help better our experience but at the end of the day you cannot make a 3* resort into. 5 * I can go on and on about all the things that transpired but there is no need.We spent more money elsewhere on the nicer beach, taxis back and forth and for meals at other restaurants as the food at the buffet was less then enjoyable ,after 11 days of safari 5 * food.
At the end of the day we were not compensated for the price paid and what we received and the terrible experience.. We both own companies and understand things happen however the person we were communicating with basically humoured us with some communication and made many excuses as to why the company had not gotten back to us, until she ghosted us completely. Not sure if the company even knew about our complaints. I did try different ways to write emails but have never heard back from anyone else in this Company. We were never rude or nasty in any of of emails but a-matter of fact that we expected some kind of compensation. Nothing. She even asked for our direct deposit info. This happened in Feb and we communicated until May 1 it is now July. We are very well travelled and have never dealt with a company that would treat it clients like it doesn’t matter. I have never written a negative review or had the need to, but decided I would let the company and future clients know of our experience . Needless to say our experience in Zanzibar was very disappointing.. Again I want to commend the Manager Deborah for going above and beyond she was the ray of Sunshine!

Well-organized trip. Excellent support in case of illness. Efficient approach and good driver-guides
5/5

Tanzania – Zanzibar travel feb 2026. Organised by “Tui Belgium” and local Organisation "Paradise & Wilderness".

Feedback

Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of falling ill on the second day of my Tanzania safaris. I must thank the local organization "Paradise & Wilderness," represented by Veronica, for their excellent care during my illness. They asked a doctor to evaluate my condition. A stay in unscheduled hotels was arranged for three days to recover. Individual transportation to those hotels and back to the group tour was also arranged. A change to my itinerary was arranged to allow for a second safari day in Southern Serengeti, in an additional hotel with individual transportation. This replaced a scheduled day in Zanzibar. Efficient and quickly organized, but with an additional fee.

I also greatly appreciate the driver-guides on our trip: Bonnie, the driver of the group who led us through the Ngorongoro National Park, and Kelvin Felisian for the individual transportation through Southern Serengeti/Ndutu. Thanks to his expertise, I was able to see and photograph a great deal of wildlife during that part of the safari, which made my trip a pleasant experience, despite the days I missed due to illness. My stay in Zanzibar with the group was also very pleasant at the Dream of Zanzibar hotel. See my feedback on the website.
I also want to give a special mention to driver Haji Juma Abdulla, who drove me to the Jozani Forest.

An Unforgettable Safari and Beach Experience
5/5

We had a true dream holiday with Reef & Beach. At the end of October/beginning of November, we spent two wonderful weeks in Tanzania and on Zanzibar. Zanzibar feels like stepping into a travel magazine — the sea is incredibly beautiful and the climate is perfect.

Tanzania breathes calm and simplicity. Hakuna matata (no worries) and pole pole (take it easy) are words you hear everywhere, and that is exactly how we experienced this journey. During this vacation, we learned to slow down and to enjoy even more the beauty of nature, the unconditional kindness of the people in the hotels, and the unique overnight stays in the bush.

The safari through Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater is a memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Our guide during the game drives, Fabian, was worth his weight in gold. With his knowledge, expertise and patience, he shared the true beauty of Tanzania with us.

Before and after the safari, we stayed in Jambiani on Zanzibar. Jambiani is located relatively far from Zanzibar Town, which means you cannot easily go back and forth (approximately 1.5–2 hours one way). We booked two excursions through the resort (Stone Town, Spice Farm and Prison Island, as well as a visit to sea turtles, swimming with dolphins and snorkeling). These trips were organized from start to finish, which made them very easy and comfortable. On the other hand, there was little free time to explore Stone Town independently.

Our stay at the resort was excellent. The food was tasty and varied, with a choice of restaurants (the main restaurant, Italian and Indian). I have no suggestions for improvement or criticism — everything that was within their control was very well organized.

5/5

The entire safari was perfectly organized from start to finish. The food, the accommodations, and the driver and guide, John, he is incredibly rewarding, a hard worker with a lot of wisdom and knowledge he love's to share with you....We saw so much of the incredibly beautiful flora and fauna, and spotted the Big 5 several times. We spoke to the most beautiful and kindest people we've ever met, learned a great deal, and realized how incredibly lucky we are!!!! But no matter how bad some people were, there smiles never faded!
John has a special place in oud heart and we hope to hear from him soon....

Everyone was so kind. The tour itself was absolutely impressive. Everyone should see this country with their own eyes at least once. We came back feeling very grounded and hope that we will be able to return someday.

Awesome experience!
5/5

I did the Tanzania Safari. The plan was adjusted to our budget. Since the moment we landed in Arusha they were very attentive, all the logistics were full coordinated, the tour guide was friendly and he really did the best job making our trip unforgettable. All the hotels/accommodations were very comfortable. The hotels are all owned by them and it was a plus for them to give a full service. They also helped us to coordinate a trip to Zanzibar which was very helpful. I totally recommend traveling with them.
