Professional and polished despite hiccups
We understand that unexpected challenges can arise during travel. The true measure of a company is how it responds—and to their credit, Monkey Adventures took full ownership of the issues we encountered.
What started superbly on an eight-night safari went awry when we had to change guides. Richard and his vehicle were superb. He clearly knew all there was to know not only about the wildlife but also about Kenya. Regrettably, musical chairs of guides followed, none of who met the standard set by Richard.
This caused undue stress and uncertainty. As seasoned travellers with experience across Africa, our expectations are high. Communication lapses and inconsistent service led us to question whether we’d book with Monkey Adventures again. In a competitive market, consistency and clarity are essential.
However, Monkey Adventures did not make excuses or deflect. They provided a transparent breakdown of what went wrong, acknowledged their atypical need to subcontract under pressure (something they won’t do again--lesson learned), and offered generous compensation. Their accountability and professionalism went a long way in restoring our trust. For that reason, we would still consider booking with them again, especially with a new fleet of land rovers. I would recommend them, especially for their flexible itineraries, responsiveness, and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Posted on Nov 17, 2025Dear Jennifer and Thomson,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about Felix. We are delighted to hear that he contributed to a wonderful safari experience for you and your wife. We are also sincerely grateful that you have chosen to recommend us to your friends for their upcoming Kenya and Tanzania cross-country safari. We look forward to delivering a fantastic experience for them.
We are sorry to hear that the communication around your final-day transfer caused frustration. We want to clarify the situation, as our intention throughout was to ensure your safety and comfort, not to block your plans.
To clarify the timeline of events:
On January 27, when you asked about driving to Nairobi on Day 9, we explained the long travel times involved after a full Ngorongoro crater tour. We recommended against it purely based on safety and comfort considerations for senior travelers.
On January 28, you informed us of a 10:00 AM meeting in Nairobi on Day 10. We honestly advised that a road transfer would not be feasible to meet that specific time and suggested flights instead.
On January 30, you instructed us to end our services in Arusha on February 11 and have your friend take over. We immediately updated your itinerary and voucher as requested.
Later, between February 7 and 9, when you informed us that you needed to end the tour on Day 9 at noon in Arusha, we reorganized the itinerary to move the Ngorongoro Crater game drives to the previous day. When you subsequently asked us to reinstate the Arusha to Nairobi road transfer, we confirmed that we could do so and provided the cost and vehicle details immediately.
As agreed, we picked you up at the Diplomat Hotel on February 11 and transferred you safely to Nairobi.
At no point did we refuse to provide the transfer. Our initial hesitation was an attempt to provide professional advice regarding the fatigue of long travel days. Ngorongoro Crater drives take about 5 hours, the drive to Arusha is 4.5 hours, and the transfer to Nairobi can take another 5 hours depending on the border. Combining this into one day is extremely tiring, and our responsibility is to inform clients when a plan is logistically possible but not recommended for their well-being.
We are truly happy that your safari itself was excellent and that Felix provided outstanding service. We sincerely apologize if the logistical discussions felt stressful, as that was never our intention. We will review our internal procedures to ensure our consultants explain all options with maximum clarity in the future. Thank you again for choosing Monkey Adventures, and we look forward to welcoming your friends soon.
Best Regards,
Fred

The whole tour is excellent guide by driver . But almost ruined by operator Sylvia.she can not meet the requirement of clients.
I was 5 times visit Tanzania and Kenya. The trip 10 days just finished 13Feb2025 .as a Valentine present to my wife. We had wonderful time with extraordinary driver guide Felix. He Did his utmost to arrange all the big 5 visit.
The last day transfer from Arusha to Nairobi refused operation by Sylvia 3 times even we must go Nairobi. We have to arrange by booking.com and other resources.
She did arrange the transfer last moment. But we suffered lot in communication.

Great experience
We had a 7 days safari in Tanzania in Aug 24. From the very beginning I really enjoyed Monkey Adventures: the booking process was easy and clear and we received several options to choose from. We received all the information we needed (emails and guidelines were completed and crystal clear).
The day we arrived in Tanzania we had a 30min briefing to be prepared for the safari. Accommodations were all very good; I must say that they all overcome my expectations as we opted for what we thought were budget solutions but they resulted to be very nice, very clean and comfortable. Tasty meals (side note: I'm allergic to diary and I had never troubles to get proper meals). The guide we had was very experienced and we saw a lot of animals. We really enjoyed the experience. Really pleasant also the trip to Materuni Falls and coffee plantation on the last day.
Great value for money.
We definetly will be contacting Monkey_adventures_africa again if we have the opportunity to travel in the countries they operate.

Sylvia & great guy JOHN (guide) very professional, knowledgeable, lots a patience & great humour
Overlall the trip was good, safari, accomodation, food etc.except the concept of africa you build over years through books, TV, social media etc. seen herds of wild elephants, giraffs etc. you dont see at every safari. lake manyaara was VERY AVERAGE - just saw few animals every 30 mins or so! one giraff in a the bush at a distance. few lone bulls - pachyderms. A better choice would have beeen Tarangire. ngorongoro crater was really good you see varieties of wild life, birds and ungulates. again no herds of elephants! The food at stays and packed food were great. Recommend highly Green Mountain hotel. rhino and leapards very rare.
It's advisable for the company FIRST requests the tourist what their requrements are, instead of offering a standard package, Will never recommend lake manyaara safari. Prabably the best place to see wild life is serengeti.
Just a word about Sylvia the contact at Monkey - excellent communiactor with effective prompt action.
Arusha you except to be hot but it's cool. you need a jumper/sweater- a hot tea/coffee in a themos would have been great during safari.

Tour operator was ok, guide was horrible.
First we would like thank you for always replying quickly and the driver always being on time.
Secondly I would like to tell you what happened on our first day:
- We landed on time and were stuck in traffic on the way to Lake Navaisha so we couldn’t do the tour on that day so it was postponed for the next morning.
- Because it we did the next morning we arrived late at our hotel in Masai Maraa which resulted in not doing any game drive on day 2, which we payed you for (80 dollars x 6)
We believe we have the right to get refunded for this. In the future you should not do a heavy planning like this for your guests as with the traffic and condition of the roads it’s not doable.
We also were extremely unhappy about our driver. The driver really breaks or makes your holiday as we spend so much time together. Ours was not providing us any basic information about our day or Kenya, got irritated by our questions, sensitive as not having a sense of humor, demotivated (example: he told us there was a rhino but it was very far meaning he didn’t want to bring us eventhough he knew how much we wanted to see a rhino).
In Masai Maraa he was doing the same routes for 3 days always bringing us at the same spots.
We were the only safari bus with broken binoculars. All other drivers has binoculars looking for the animals for their guests.
He was wearing the same clothes for 5 days so I can’t even begin to describe the smell we had to endure all these hours.
Our driver clearly shows he does not want to do his job and the we were not welcome.
He also got irritated when we were giving away our extra food to the children we would see because he said they would litter.
Eventhough we were extremely unhappy with him we still gave him a generous tip which he also showed us how unhappy he was with.
We had a fun holiday because we were a fun group not thanks to our driver or accommodation.
I really do not understand all the other 5 star’s reviews and really wished we had a 5 star experience as we paid a lot of money for this holiday.
The lunch box in the accommodation in Masai Maraa was every day the same! Very poor selection for breakfast too. There should be also be mosquitonets as the room is full with mosquitoes and other bugs. We were not so bothered by the accommodation as it’s fairly for the price we paid.
Efficient, responsive, pleasant.
We had an amazing safari. We had some questions to clear mid Safari and they were extremely responsive and ensured for a very pleasant few days. They chose a good tour guide for us to work with and organised everything excellently at very short notice. Highly recommend!

Tim knows how to give you an excellent experience
I had my first Safari experience, with Monkey Adventures from 23 December to 30 December.
The Safari least 8 days, we started with 4 days at Masai Mara, staying at Julia's River Camp, we had a tent experience in the VIP camp, right next to the river. Julia's River Camp is surrounded by the river and it's open to wild animals, nothing that you have to take care about it because security does it for you, escorting you from and back to the tent, after dinner or when you need it.
We enjoyed our stay at Masai Mara mostly because of the game driving, thanks to our guide Timothye, it was easy to see a lot of wild animals, also see Zebras crossing a river with wildebeest and some

This company deserves no less than a 5 star rating. Trustworthy and reliable!
We had a great time on our first safari in Kenya with Monkey Adventures! From the moment I got in touch with them through Safari Bookings, John was very responsive to my emails and answered all my questions about our safari. He helped us plan our 3 day private safari in Amboseli National Park. We were picked up at our hotel in Nairobi on time by our wonderful guide in a 4x4 Land Cruiser. We absolutely enjoyed the convenience of being in the center of everything by staying at Ol Tukai Lodge! Yvonne and Robert from the main office were also very helpful and responsive when we communicated with them regarding our delayed baggage on Whatsapp. They went above and beyond in making sure our luggages got delivered to us, even though we were already across the border in Tanzania! I cannot emphasize how helpful they are during this crazy time of travel. We had a similar experience in the UK which was the next leg of our trip where our luggage was delayed once again in Amsterdam. Our tour operator or anybody really was not able to help us recover them while we were still in the UK.
Over all, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip because of this company and it certainly was money well spent. Do not hesitate to book your East African with this company! 5 stars all the way! Thank you John, Faizah, Yvonne and Robert!
