My advice: Avoid Windsong Safaris
I booked a women’s safari with Windsong Safaris, expecting a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Unfortunately, aspects of the trip did not meet my expectations, and I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.
The trip was marketed as a premium, life-changing safari. However, I was surprised to learn that the owner Trish did not personally lead the trip, as I initially believed. I was informed two weeks before departure that the original group was no longer going, and as a result, Trish would not be attending due to economic reasons. This change left me feeling uncertain, as we were given limited local contacts and minimal details regarding transportation and accommodations. Communication was primarily through Facebook or calls to California, which was not always practical.
There were several logistical challenges that made parts of the trip stressful. Transportation between locations was long and difficult, and I was unsure who would be picking us up at times. The camps seemed unprepared for our arrival, and we were required to sign a liability waiver that had all our names on a single form. I later discovered that my signature had been added without my knowledge, which concerned me.
The itinerary did not align with what I had anticipated. The "women’s safari" was promoted as an experience centered around connection, culture, and personal growth. However, I felt that there was minimal cultural engagement or structured activities beyond the game drives. While the wildlife was incredible, I had hoped for more meaningful experiences, such as the opportunity to visit local villages to donate hygiene products—something I was initially told would be included but only happened because I repeatedly requested it.
Some group dynamics also posed challenges. Certain participants had medical conditions that led to difficult situations during the trip. One individual had a medical emergency related to a pre-existing condition, and another declined to take malaria medication due to personal beliefs. These situations, while beyond anyone’s control, created additional concerns about safety and preparedness.
There were also some discrepancies between what was promised and what was delivered. For example, I was told there would be WiFi at all camps, but in reality, it was only available in central areas that were not always accessible. I was also under the impression that four nights at a beach resort were included, but plans appeared to change. When I inquired about these issues, I felt the response was defensive rather than solution-oriented, which left me disappointed.
Overall, while I appreciated the opportunity to see Africa’s incredible wildlife, I personally would never book with this company again.

We took a safari from Dar es Salaam (28-30.12.24).
Everything went according to the preliminary agreed plan (the price was optimal, everything was negotiable, I ordered a translator separately for convenience).

Very attentive,caring and helpful.
We booked the tour after asking quote from different operators and I found them to be so helpful and honest about their answers.
Everything during the trip was excellent - they paid attention to every single detail.
Our guide was so funny and kind - but more importantly he knew everything abut the wildlife. He was patient and never disturbed the animals.
We had an amazing 10 days safari organised by this company.

Excellent Experience
Trip of a lifetime! End-to-end excellence in service: From the booking process to the lodgings to the Safari itself. Lion King Adventures took our breaths away. Our guide “Mwita” is truly a man of the Serengeti, born and bred here. He had extraordinary knowledge of the wildlife and was always positive, helpful and wonderful. Rosemary in the office also kept tabs on us throughout and made us feel special. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible personalised 6 day tour of Hwange/Chobe/Vic Falls! We were also fortunate to see the big 5 in the 5 days! Our guide/driver in Hwange, Thuylani, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and passionate; sharing everything with us. For the 6 days, it always felt like we were the utmost priority to ensure the best experience possible. When we had an issue at the Zimbabwe border, our beautiful driver, Enoch contacted Webster who was quick to help us out.
However, none of this amazing experience was possible without the prompt responses from the DK team (we were in contact with Brighton and Owen). They answered all our questions and made sure that if we had any requests, to simply ask! Whatever they could do, they would. During the tour itself, we were never left questioning what was happening next or waiting for pick ups. We came across many employees/drivers for the company and all of them were helpful, kind and friendly.

We had the most wonderful time exploring the magical Serengeti with African Chitah. The owner of the company did everything he could to make our safari an unforgettable and wonderful experience. The details are what always matter. The owner personally picked us up from the hotel with his Safari driver who he had personally picked because this particular driver is excellent for being kind and finding animals. It's not so easy to find the animals in the vast plains of Serengeti but in the first 3 hours we had already found zebra, wildebeest, Buffalo, cheetah, a lion, a jaguar, and several other types. Our dauggter got something in her eye on the second day and we had to find an eye specialist. The owner personally met us and took us to several places to find a specialist. He was with us every step of the way helping us to pay and find medical care and do translations. Then he went out of his way to find us a hotel room on our last night and then personally dropped us off at the airport on the last day. He refused to charge us to take us to the airport or find the hotel. He just wanted to provide us an excellent service and wonderful experience. Thank you African Chitah!!!
