Above & Beyond in Every Capacity!
5/5

From my very first inquiry, Norman and the team at Nhlalala Travel went above and beyond.

I watched other tourists at Kruger National Park on the phone with their tour operators yelling at them for their bad experiences - you don’t want to make a mistake on your operator & Nhlalala will NOT be a mistake!

They were very communicative, and gave me the utmost confidence in our 2-day safari. They customized our safari to be exactly what we were looking for. The travel accommodations and lodging were exceptional.

I can’t say enough good things about this company - 10/10 recommend and if we come back to Kruger National Park, they will be the only place we consider contacting!

The absolute best ever
5/5

I wanted to take a moment now that I have had a little time to review my experience working with Compass Odyssey. I returned from an absolutely amazing visit to Africa just 8 days ago. I spent a total of 15 nights and 16 days in Africa and could not be happier with my experience. I have traveled many places across the globe, and this was my first trip to Africa, I was a little apprehensive and chose Compass based on other reviews and at random. From the start they accommodated my wishes for what I was looking for in my trip, and the parts of Africa I wanted to experience. They were also responsive to the things I wanted to do after booking while in Cape town and coordinated with the dive center I had contacted to make sure communication was seamless.

I am an avid wildlife photographer and seeing the amazing animals of Africa were first on my list of things I wanted to experience. from my arrival in Cape Town airport the instructions given for clearing customs and immigration to being picked up by my driver Garth was perfect. After 20 hours in the air or airports I was ready for bed and Garth took me to my lodgings at Parker Cottage which was a charming Bed and Breakfast with great staff and a welcome place to lay my head for the next 3 nights. The following morning Garth let me know that because of the weather the dive center had notified me that all dives had to be cancelled so we took a drive down to the cape of good hope seeing many beautiful animals and great scenery including the penguins in Simonstown. Day two was a great drive down the coast and into the mountains, and three was a beautiful trip to the wine country. Garth was a font of knowledge and helped me to feel comfortable in Africa and finding things I was interested in doing.

From Cape town I flew to Hoedspruit for 2 days at a private game reserve where i was truly introduced to the Safari life at Senalala Safari lodge. The staff greeted me when I got out of the vehicle, and everything was first class. I was able to see all of the big 5 in the 4 game drives over 2 days. After that I was whisked off to my second Safai experience which was in a luxury tent at Ukambi Bush camp in Sabi Sands. Nothing bush about this camp, once again first class. 3 days at this camp and all 5 of the big 5 again sitting on the deck watching animals at the water hole between game drives once again magical.

From Sabi Sands I was transferred by private driver to Kruger airport and flew to Victoria Falls in Zambia where I was met by Mortimer a fantastic guide to the local area. Once I had dropped off my bags at the Bed and Breakfast Mortimer took me to the falls for my tour of the Zimbabwe side then dropped me off and picked me up at a local restaurant. the next day we went to the Zambia side of the falls and Mortimer arranged to take me on a game drive at the local park where once again I had fantastic encounters with the wildlife.

The next day I went to Botswana where the only hiccup in the trip happened which was no one's fault just trouble communicating and was taken care of quickly and everything was once again fantastic.

Last Day saw a trip back to Zambia and the Elephant Cafe for an encounter with elephants and lunch which was one of the best meals I have ever had. Then a game drive and walk to see the Rhinos great way to end my first encounter with Africa.

Needless to say, I have several months of photo editing to go through, but I would unreservedly recommend Compass Odyssey to anyone thinking of a trip to Africa.

It was awesome
5/5

I went with my parents, siblings, niece and nephew. The tour was even better than we expected. We saw four of the big five — just missed leopards. All the hotels were great. Our guide, Lawrence, was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Highest recommendation!

Excellent 3 days in Mikumi
5/5

We had a 3 person Safari from Dar to Mikumi national park for three days. Took the SGR train to Morogoro and stayed 2 nights in Bastian lodge. Totally worth of taking the game drive, since our amazing driver and guide Nazareth made sure that we had the best time. And hey, how ofter you get to see lions mating up and close. Also, you want to have a jeep with roof up, so you can stand and see everything instead of sitting on those open jeeps on other safaris.

Incredible Tanzania Safari!
5/5

This was one of the most unforgettable travel experiences I’ve ever had. Communication was clear and responsive from the start, and everything ran smoothly once we arrived. Ibrahim was fantastic, knowledgeable, warm, and really made the experience special. The service throughout was excellent, and the trip felt well-organized and reliable the entire time. It was absolutely worth the money, and the wildlife, landscapes, and overall atmosphere were truly magical. Highly recommend to anyone considering a safari in Tanzania!

Ten day mind-blowing safari Kenya July 1 - 10
5/5

I am very happy to provide an honest and candid review of a private safari I took with Cherish Africa Safaris Limited from July 1 to July 10, 2025: Nairobi, Samburu, Nakuru, Naivasha, Maasi Mara, Amboseli, Nairobi. Based upon the proposal I received, I booked the trip. The proposal contained what I perceived as exaggerated descriptions. Just marketing. Nevertheless, I booked. To set the record straight, I was impressed by what I saw. Better than the brochure. Yes, Kenya is mind-blowingly beautiful and extremely popular especially in the month of July, the beginning of the dry season. I had been warned about the crowds. When someone spots a chetah, the word gets out and when you get there you share the event with ten other vehicles. Not good. Here is what Cherish got right and I do not know how they do it, somehow the most amazing things we saw, and we saw ALONE. I saw two male lions cuddling, yawning, and head butting ten feet away, fifteen elephants walking single file in front of our land rover, Wilde beast, rhinoceros, zebras, giraffes, hippos in abundance from the get-go. Accommodations were not five stars or luxurious, but they did not come with the luxurious price tag. If five stars are what you want plan to pay triple the price. There was an AC, but it is not necessary. Nights were cool. Nippy sometimes. I needed a sweater at night. The food (three meals a day included) was fine and healthy: the rooms nice with mosquito netting and fans with an authentic feel. The staff smiling, friendly and sweet. Everyone. I had a private safari. However, if you would like to travel with a group of friends, say two to six, you can really save money by spreading the cost of the land rover and guide over the number of guests.
I would like to end with two things. I will go on another safari with Cherish next year to various locations less well-known. Cherish knows of some gems out there. I will go only under one condition, that Bena is my tour guide. He is so knowledgeable. I accused him of having extrasensory perception (ESP). A week before my safari my asthma, which had gone into remission, came back and progressively worsened before the trip and I foolishly did nothing prior to traveling. On the safari my driver concerned about my asthma suggested that we stop at a pharmacy, where I got excellent care and treatment which held me over until I returned to the United States, July 11. 5 Stars.

Note: Get cash for tips. The cash tip may be an individual’s sole source of income. Do not tip with your currency’s coins. Worthless in Kenya and insulting. And would you tip a bell boy two quarters in the USA? What are people thinking?
