It was the most beautiful experience I’ve ever had! From Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru and at the end to Masai Mara. We had the best Safari Guide ever, big thank you to Kevin! I can totally recommend to book a Safari Tour with Axis Safari, espacilly with Kevin! ☺️

Excellent Kenya and Tanzania Safari Tour
5/5

We did a 13 day safari tour incorporating parks in Kenya and Tanzania. The programme was put together by Margaret after some initial questions and then slightly tweaked to suit our needs.

We did a private tour just for the 2 of us but still travelled in the 8 seater 4x4, which was advantageous for us because (1) we were able to spread our belongings over the space (2) no competition or jostling for the photo taking and (3) it allowed us to decide and alter our programme each day in consultation with the driver.

Communication from Camp Trek’s Margaret started well in advance of the trip and continued throughout the trip. All queries were dealt with efficiently and quickly.

We visited Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara parks in Kenya and Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire parks in Tanzania. The vast plains of Masai Mara and Serengeti contrasted with the different landscapes of the lakes and crater. This meant that not everything was the same- the different landscapes were almost as much interesting as the wildlife.

We covered large distances and it is worth studying how much travel is required between parks, sometimes 6 to 7 hours in the vehicle. Having the private tour allowed us to shorten our game drives and increase the amount of downtime in the lodges, as and when required. Thanks to our Kenya driver Steve and Tanzania driver Richard who also co-ordinated well and the border crossings were handled very smoothly, also with John on our return border crossing and airport drop-off.

Some of the accommodations were based in the middle of the game park, in unfenced areas, which puts you literally in the game zone. Having the animals close to you is hard to believe. This does mean a disturbed night from the sounds of animals and a requirement to be escorted to and from your room after dark.

In summary, a bucket list event and strongly recommend Camp Trek Safaris to cater for your needs. Thanks to all the individuals mentioned above.

Very good safari but some logistics issues
3/5

I joined a 4-day group safari to Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire. It was followed by a private day trip to visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes.

All in all, a good company, but it could be more organized and transparent. It is not an issue for most travelers, but I expected game drives from the camps in Serengeti and Ngorongoro to start before sunrise to see the most animal activity and have the most beautiful light for photography. Before the safari, I specifically inquired with the company about the game drives starting at sunrise, and they said yes, they would start at sunrise. I know it is often not done by most companies, but when I get a reply that it will start at sunrise, I expect that to happen—otherwise, I would have chosen a different company.

The main issue was that the car had clients from several different companies, and people had 2-3 different accommodations. Therefore, it took time to drop off and pick up everyone.

The start from Serengeti was supposed to be at sunrise but was 2 hours later at 08:30. Departure from the campsite in Ngorongoro was at 7:30, arriving in the crater at 8:15, which is almost 2 hours after sunrise. Staying at that campsite was advertised as an opportunity to "start with the first light" to see the most active wildlife.
On day 4, we departed the hotel at 9 instead of 8, then waited 30 minutes for other clients, arriving in Tarangire at midday, which is the worst time to be there.

We had 7 people instead of 6 as advertised in the tour documentation.

Positives:
Very good driver-guide, Simba, knowledgeable about wildlife and their behavior. We were lucky to have very good wildlife spotting on the first day in Serengeti, seeing all of the Big Five in one day. Car was good, accommodations were good, and food was good. The national parks visited are world-class, with incredible opportunities for animal spotting and photography.

So if you want to optimize your schedule, pick a private safari or a bigger company that has everyone in the same accommodation. Maybe starting early does not matter to you—in such a case, there is no problem recommending Ngekewa.

A trip for life
5/5

At the end of January - beginning of Februart me and my partner have travelled through Kilimagiaro, trekking on the Marangu Route, and the Parks of Taranguire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, with Savannah Explores. It has been a unique experience: a tremendous us nature and landscape, but also a human experience, having spent two weeks with the guides and porters of the organization.
Trekking on Kilimangiaro is not an everyday thing. It requires strenght, spirit of adaptation, sensitivity. Dancan, our Italian speaking guide from the Masai tribe, toghether with Calvino, the over-the-top enthusiasm-maker, has made it possible, supporting us in all ways, providing stuff and comfort. All the porters who have carried our stuff up to the Kili have left a sign in our heart, from maître Jackson to chef Leopard. Surprized? Yes, on the trail we have had every day hot meals, freshly coocked, and hot water for washing.
Technically, I’ve had a health problem, and I couldn’t reach the Peak. Dancan has always been by my side, escorting me to the camp, while my partner got the top with Calvino and a porter. We will never forget and thank enough them for being so professional and friendly.
As for the facilities, the camps have no hot water, not always electric current (we had a solar panel but for 3 days there was no sun), not always Internet (if you are about to plan a trakking, take it into account). We had to share the hut only once in 5 days.

But the adventure continued.
We had a 5 days safari with another guide, Maolidi, which we called “Maurizio” or “Mau”. Mau is an excellent driver, speaks Italian very well, but above all he finds the animals. Always! We’ve travelled in the low season, but we have seen so many animals that we never expected. Mau knows the places (I still wonder how he gets hos bearing, without a navigator) and has an exceptional eye for spotting animals. Punctual, dicrete, professional: he has made the difference.
Both near Ngorongoro and in the Serengeti we stayed in a really stunning hotel and a glamour camp with all facilities.
