It was a great trip! The experience of the whole process was better than expected. We had zero contact with animals during the trip. As it takes a long time to take pictures, you'd better prepare a portable battery. Comparison of the sun at noon, so to do a good sunscreen, wear sunglasses, it is best to bring a telescope, so that our field of vision. Become clearer and see more carefully.

Exceeding our expectations in so many ways!
5/5

My father and I decided on an adventure in Tanzania. My father is 79 years old and this was a big dream of his. Our goal was to climb with a local tour company (as a lot of tours are owned outside of Tanzania). This particular tour company was recommended and we decided to book our trip.

Our goal was to climb Kilimanjaro in 8 days on the Lomosho trail and then after the climb do a safari.

Upon landing in Kilimanjaro, the internet at the airport crashed and we couldn’t get our visas for over three hours, our plane was already late an hour upon arrival. Edwin and Frank were patiently waiting for us outside the airport and greeted us with huge smiles and immediately we felt like we were in good company and would be well taken care of during our trip.

Edwin set us up with our climbing team, with lead guide Chuwa, and assistant guide Stephen. They took us up the mountain with our 6 porters and cook Joseph. The food was awesome, home cooked and always wholesome ingredients, with many tastes of African home cooking. We had snacks and popcorn on the mountains for breaks. We were never hungry or thirsty the whole time. The service exceeded our expectations.

Chuwa was a master leader on the mountain and he and his team got myself and my father to the summit. Coming down the mountain was a challenge for my father, and Chuwa’s team was amazing at helping him, beyond words and gratitude.

My father had some medical complications after the climb and Edwin and Frank were there to help with grace and expertise in Moshi and Arusha.

We managed a safari for one day and our guide was Hafidh was a professional at his task and answered all of our questions about Africa, the culture, the people, the animals, the trees and flowers, we tried to stump him, but couldn’t.

I can’t recommend Edwin and his Taste of Kilimanjaro tour company enough or even thank them enough to get us through our trip safely with grace and kindness.

If you’re thinking about this tour company you won’t be disappointed, they handled everything, the good and the bad.

This will always be a lifetime achievement for myself and my 79 year old father.

Thank you again,
Edwin, Frank, Chuwa and Hafidh!

Excellent communication and amazing trip, so helpful.
5/5

We contacted Gift Tembo and he was excellent for communication. He answered all our questions and adapted plans when asked, we could not have asked for better service as he was excellent. Our driver JJ and chef Gadi were also phenomenal over the few days of our safari, the driving was safe and the food was so tasty, we ate like queens for the few days with water and drinks always in the van for our long game drives. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We saw so many animals and the driver did his best to search them out and get us good viewing angles. The trip was 100% excellent. We choose a budget camping safari and even that exceeded expectations, tents were clean large and the sleeping mat were very comfortable. We had the most amazing trip, thank you Meru Slopes ❤️

Amazing experience
5/5

We had a wonderful time on our 3 day Masai Mara tour. We managed to see all of the Big 5, including a leopard and cheetah! Our driver Elias made sure we got a comprehensive view of the park, and even stayed 2 hours later than we were
scheduled to for us to see more lions. Would highly recommend this group tour, it's certainly an experience I will never forget.

Reliable, Knowledgeable, professional and punctual
5/5

This was a bucket list trip for me so I was very concerned about it being ruined by bad organisation. It turned out better than I ever imagined. My son and I didn’t realise we would have private tours and safaris, we were treated to our own safari car. Our guides were always ready and waiting for us and adapted to any changes professionally. We saw the Big 5 and so much more including Gorillas. I will definitely be going with Ecovic Tours and Travel Uganda Ltd again.

Once in a lifetime experience
5/5

Just returned from Safari in Masai Mara,Kenya and Serengeti, Tanzania. We traveled with our 2 sons and their families including 2 teenage children. We all had experience of a lifetime. The itinerary was very well planned giving us enough time to enjoy the sites. The lodges and luxury tent accommodations were excellent with all modern facilities and gourmet food options.
The drivers/ guides were very professional and knowledgeable and went out of their way to accommodate us. We were able to see plenty of big 5 including lions hunting Zebras and Cheetah chasing Gizells. However, the highlight was watching the Great Animal Migration, which left us in awe !
We would highly recommend this company to organize your private Safari experience.

Overall great, and soon any kinks will be worked out for sure.

I was traveling with a party of 11, all age ranges from 10 to my parents in their 70s. The most important elements here were safety and consideration of this varied party and in both respects Serengeti Smile was exemplary. Walter and Zack were our drivers and while I saw other jeeps that were impatient at times and risky while navigating some really treacherously narrow roads, they never made us feel unsafe and were extremely capable. Walter was a font of knowledge and would supplement his lessons on the wildlife with books he kept in the front seat that could act as visual aids. I got along with Zack for his good nature and our shared football love. Both were always vigilant of my mother-in-law’s precarious gait and were kind to the kids (10, 11, 13).

Their knowledge of the terrain - the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater - was evident and they made sure we got to see all the big five while on safari. The leopard was a tricky find but they wouldn’t give up and eventually we saw one in a tree (camouflaged incredibly which may explain why they’re so elusive). We saw two rhinos and had the most amazing encounter with three male lions who were lounging in front of a herd of about 500 zebras. One lion came within a few yards of my window. Just mesmerizing.

The highlight of our accommodations was the Nyoto (sp?) resort where we stayed for two nights in the Serengeti. It was surreal to sip beers in the pool looking over an infinity edge at a herd of water buffalo migrating north. My wife was gazing at grazing giraffes as she dozed in the afternoon. When you have a high like Nyoto it’s really hard for the other accommodations to compete, and if there’s one way they could improve it’s to continue searching for other venues that meet that standard. But to be honest, all the accommodations were on lovely grounds, I just imagine some of this has to do with what’s available.

I’ve only been on one safari so take my opinion for what it’s worth, but I’ve traveled all across Europe and Asia, and I know how tough a trip like this through a rustic developing nation can be and I can’t imagine another company doing better.

High recommend and another nod to our guides Walter and Zack.
