Great Maasai Mara Experience
I had a wonderful Maasai Mara safari trip with Jocky Tours and my driver, Wycliffe. Although the trip was quite short (Only 3 days. I highly recommend going for longer because the drive from Nairobi to Maasai Mara takes 6–7 hours, which leaves very little time for game viewing), I had the chance to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, and — very luckily — witness a spectacular river crossing during the great wildebeest migration.
Wycliffe was very thoughtful and knowledgeable about the Maasai Mara, and he shared a lot of information with us throughout the trip. I stayed at Lenchada Camping, and as a solo traveller, I was given a private tent with full amenities and a spacious bathroom. The staff at the tour office were also very kind — they even accompanied me to exchange money since I hadn’t brought USD or KES.
One small suggestion would be for Lenchada Camping: since the tents are not soundproof, we could hear everything going on outside. Some guests were talking and laughing very loudly in the middle of the night, while most people needed to rest early after a long day and to wake up early the next morning. For this reason, it would be helpful if Lenchada had a rule prohibiting noise after 10 or 11 PM to ensure all guests can rest and stay healthy.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the trip and hope to return someday.

Everything was perfect. They bought my tickets from Zanzibar to Arusha. The transportation, accommodations, food—everything was very well organized. They are always available for any questions and always respond as quickly as possible.

Our driver was Tiyani and he was a friendly face from the get go. Safe driving. Nothing to complain about. Free wifi on board which was a pleasant surprise!
There were 2 stops along the way, free toilets. KFC (and other shops) and a fruit store (where you can purchase juices and sample local fruits). Can pay by card for both.
Everything was a breeze. Would recommend to anybody.

Olaa, our driver in Arusha, was always punctual and got us where we needed to be safely and smoothly. Despite constant additional requests, travel hiccups, or other unforeseen changes to the itinerary, he was there with a smile on his face to help.
In our first week we explored the Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks. Eric, our safari guide, was deeply knowledgeable, personable, and always seemed to know just where to go to catch wildlife activity. His expertise and patience led us to witnessing some rare wildlife events including a major wildebeest crossing of the Mara River, a lioness stalking a herd of zebras, and a large pride of lions with cubs feeding. He also shared insights into local culture and ecosystems. When challenges arose, Eric handled them with calmness and ease. For example, on the very bumpy roads the suspension snapped a bolt on our Land Cruiser (not surprising, just wait until you experience the ride!), but Eric had support contacted, the suspension fixed, and us on our way within 2 hours, a truly incredible feat given the remoteness of the Serengeti. Unforeseen challenges will arise on your trip, but the GTT operators were constantly adept at addressing them quickly and keeping things moving forward smoothly. Over the week, Eric truly became a friend and truly made the experience one-of-a-kind for our family.
Our second week was a 7-day hike up Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route, and it exceeded all expectations. We were guided by Dickson and Noah, both of whom were incredibly calm, experienced, and highly attentive to our group’s needs throughout. They struck the perfect balance between keeping us safe and making the experience enjoyable, informative, and encouraging. The entire support crew, including our chef (Chiks who could outcook you with one hand tied behind his back at 15,000ft), waiter, and team of porters did a consistently impressive job supporting our team up and down the mountain. They put safety first, but did everything they could to ensure we were successful in summitting the mountain, which we completed with their support. I wouldn't have wanted to summit with any other team.
Of all the tour groups we evaluated Golden Trips Tanzania stands out for its customization and flexibility, knowledgeable and personable guides, and local expertise. I would give a strong recommendation to anyone looking to explore this beautiful country to consider Golden Trips Tanzania.
