Full Service at a Reasonable Price
We just returned from a 6 night / 7 day private safari with Blue Lilac Tours, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish.
Everything ran incredibly smoothly. From the very first email, Edna was responsive, professional, and so easy to work with. She answered all of our questions promptly and thoughtfully, and she helped us craft an itinerary that fit exactly what we were hoping for. The planning process felt collaborative and stress-free.
Once on safari, we were in the very capable hands of our guide and driver, Boniface. He was knowledgeable, warm, and truly exceptional at spotting wildlife. We honestly don’t know how he saw half of what he did! He went the extra mile — literally — to help us track down the Big Five, and his determination and expertise made all the difference. Because we were on a private safari, he was also incredibly flexible and happy to adjust plans based on our interests and requests, which made the experience feel personal and unhurried.
We also felt that the value was outstanding. Before booking, I received a quote from a “luxury” safari company that was nearly twice the price — and interestingly, it included two of the same four lodges that were on our Blue Lilac itinerary. That really put things into perspective. We felt we received an exceptional, high-quality experience without paying an inflated premium simply for a label.
This trip was unforgettable, and so much of that is thanks to the team at Blue Lilac Tours. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a well-organized, customized, and truly special safari experience.

An amazing 5 night safari
An incredible experience with Stanley and our driver Mike. They looked after us (a group of 5 girls) brilliantly and booked everything for us. Great value for money when we were staying in fancy hotels (salt lick and ngutini lodge). Couldn’t recommend it enough and would love to do it all over again. Definitely recommend to everyone!

I think that was a good operator
I liked the experience but my only disapointment was not seeing any leopard.

Excellent Tour operator
Just came back from 11 days (04 to 15 Feb 26) Kenya Safari with Beyond the Plains. What an unforgettable experience. From the initial enquiry till we were dropped off at the airport on return, they provided excellent service, cannot fault anything. Honest, trustworthy, flexible and reliable operator. For enquiries and bookings, Andrew was instrumental in helping with the whole thing and was available almost 24/7. He would try and accommodate all your needs and requests; nothing was too much to ask. Very good accommodation and services. To top it all off we had John as our guide. Safe and sound, John was exceptional, especially on the game drives, where he would get us in the best position to see animals. Would highly recommend Beyond the Plains (and John)

Passionate and well-communicated
I have joined a two days safari with Toulouse, and the tour is great. The accommodation of the two day safari is at the BOMA. It is a good place with well trained crew. The evening sunset is really beautiful there. The second day of the tour is Ngorongoro, which is very impressive. Got to see a lot of animals including safari big five.

Gosheni is absolutely incredible!!!
We set off on a thrilling 5-day northern Tanzania safari with Gosheni Safaris, with Mr. Ombeni Uronu guiding and driving us every step of the way. From the very first moment, it was an awe-inspiring adventure that far surpassed our highest hopes for a first African safari. Each day unfolded with breathtaking landscapes, heart-pounding wildlife encounters, and pure, unfiltered joy.
From a practical standpoint, the entire experience was seamless and impressively well-organized. Communication leading up to the trip was prompt, clear, and reassuring—every question we had was answered thoroughly and professionally. The level of service we received throughout the journey was outstanding, and the attention to detail made us feel genuinely cared for. In terms of value for money, the safari exceeded expectations; the quality of the lodges, the expertise of our guide, and the unforgettable experiences in the parks made it worth every penny. Gosheni Safaris proved to be reliable, punctual, and consistently attentive, giving us complete peace of mind from start to finish.
Ombeni’s extensive knowledge of Tanzania’s iconic national parks and his confident, skillful driving consistently placed us in prime viewpoints for spectacular, crystal-clear views of magnificent wildlife. We were able to capture stunning, up-close photos of so many extraordinary animals. The perfect balance of exhilarating game drives and peaceful evenings in charming lodges and tented camps was made even more memorable by Ombeni’s warm personality, steady presence, and playful sense of humor. As we were celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary, the wonderful Serengeti camp staff surprised us at dinner with a delicious cake and a lively song and dance performance—an unforgettable, joy-filled moment made even better when Ombeni enthusiastically joined the celebration.
Over the course of our journey, we witnessed the legendary Big Five, the dramatic wildebeest and zebra migration, lions mating, sleek cheetahs on the prowl, intense scenes of predation, and countless herds of elephants grazing, wandering, and even peacefully napping beneath the vast African sky. The sheer abundance and dazzling variety of wildlife were so remarkable that had I not documented everything, I would have completely lost track of the incredible number of animals we encountered.
For anyone considering a Tanzanian safari, we cannot recommend Gosheni Safaris and Ombeni highly enough. Fellow travelers will especially appreciate knowing that beyond the extraordinary wildlife and stunning scenery, the company delivers exceptional communication, dependable service, excellent value, and a flawlessly executed tour experience from beginning to end.

We do not recommend choosing this tour company.
I was involved in a serious traffic accident during a safari tour in Tanzania. I am sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions.
On February 15, 2026, the third day of our safari, we departed from Ndutu Bush Camp before 8:00 a.m. to visit the Ngorongoro Crater. Around 10:10 a.m., while driving on a muddy road in a Land Cruiser, the driver was traveling at excessive speed. He nearly collided with wildlife, failed to safely navigate a curve, and the vehicle overturned, sustaining severe damage.
I struck my head and left shoulder and was unable to move immediately after the crash. The driver did not assist passengers and instead exited the vehicle to inspect the damage, later stating that brake failure caused the accident.
With help from others, I was transported to a nearby clinic and then to Mount Meru Hospital in Arusha. The journey took over three hours and was delayed further by two engine breakdowns. At the hospital, only a head CT scan was performed. No examination of my shoulder or neck was conducted, and no medication was provided.
As a result of the accident, all safari activities scheduled for that day were cancelled. I requested a refund for the unused portion of the tour, but this was refused. After further discussion, the company offered only USD 100 per person, plus USD 150 for clothing lost in the wrecked vehicle, despite the total three-day tour costing USD 1,429.
I am still experiencing persistent pain, including limited movement of my left shoulder and difficulty opening my mouth.
Based on this experience, I have serious concerns regarding:
1. Driver safety standards
2. Vehicle maintenance
3. Post-accident customer care and refund policies
I strongly advise travelers to carefully consider these factors before booking.
