I’ve just returned from an unforgettable week in Rwanda and Uganda with Bush Crafts Safaris — truly a bucket-list adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes, incredible wildlife, gorillas, chimpanzees, and endless moments surrounded by nature.

Inside a documentary - A DREAM!
I did a 5 days safari (middle range).
Our driver GERARD was EXCELLENT!
We spent all the days together and he drove us everywhere and make sure we could see all the animals. He was replying to all our questions and always make sure everyone was ok with photos and videos before leaving.
The accomaditons were really cool except for the 1st and last night in Arusha where I would have expect a better accommodation.
I didn’t like the idea of paying 5% surcharge when doing the 80% payment at the arrival because bringing all those cash is not easy.

A year ago my family started hunting for a travel agent who could help us build the itinerary and set everything up for our dream vacation of Masai Mara. It was mid 2025. Africa is still not the place where you just book things online. You need some agency to setup the domestic flights, camp, safaris etc. I started hunting and this company caught my attention.
Earlier few months, Abbey, the owner was so attentive, was very responsive and answered all my questions. He also gave me various options with itineraries. He also suggested stuff ( like I should take a flight from Nairobi to Mara strip instead of drive and I should look into staying in specific resorts etc.). He also gave me great pricing. It was amazing. I paid in two installments and by January 2026 we completely paid the amount for our July 2026 trip.
This is where it started going south...
First, he never provided a printed itinerary which had everything confirmed. I kept asking and he gave me a link to SafariBuddy where there would be information.
Second, misinformation. He said that our camp (Neptune Mara Rianta) was in a North Mara Conservancy which would allow us to even do a game drive there as it was far from the main Masai Mara reserve. That was false. Upon going there we realized that it was in its own conservancy and so we were not allowed there. It was not a big deal but he should have known.
Third, and the most frustrating part with him, was the schedule of flying out of Masai Mara on our last day there. Despite our payments many months earlier he never booked our flight in time ( I think it was intentional ). He kept telling us various different times ( 8:05, then 10:00, then 3:05 and then back ) and never booked except just 3 days ago. And yes, each time he'd give me "Confirmed" information. So, why was it changing? Just 2 days before that day, he confirmed that we'd fly out at 3:05 PM. Then his local rep. called me after one day and told me the flight time changed to 8:05 AM.
I was shocked... I messaged him and he said that AirKenya just raised 200USD per person price if I wanted to leave after 10 AM from Mara strip. Really? If someone books flights some time ago, the price is locked. New rules don't apply...
I've been travelling on my own for 20 years. I understand that he was fooling around. He knew that we were already there and there was nothing I could do.
We're back to Chicago safe and sound. However, I really want to warn people... DO NOT GO WITH HIM. And if you do, ask for everything confirmed, printed.
I am going to Africa again and I thought I found a great agent who I could give business. But, I'll have to see.
