Extraordinary Family Journey Through Rwanda – Discovering Rwanda the Gama Way

my family’s journey to Rwanda one of the most beautiful and memorable
trips we have ever experienced.
I had wanted to visit Rwanda for a long time, and from the moment I
communicated with Gama Travel, I felt that I was in good hands. The
team was professional, responsive, and attentive to what my
11-year-old son and I wanted from our journey. They even assisted in
arranging my flight, making my arrival in Kigali comfortable and stress-free.
What followed was an incredible 8-day family adventure that showed us
a Rwanda far beyond what we had imagined.
We explored Kigali, visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, enjoyed
family children activities at Kigali Universe and at Fazenda , went
on an exciting Akagera National Park safari, learned about Gorilla
Conservation at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla
Fund, discovered Rwandan traditions at Iby’Iwacu, enjoyed the beauty
of Lake Kivu, and experienced family adventures and leisure
activities.
But among all the experiences we had, Bigogwe was the experience that
touched me the most.
I have travelled to many countries in Africa, Europe, and other parts
of the world, but the experience we had in Bigogwe was unlike anything
I had experienced before. The breathtaking green hills, the local
communities, the cattle, the traditional lifestyle, the interaction
with local people, and the opportunity to experience Rwanda beyond
conventional tourism made the visit incredibly authentic.
After experiencing Bigogwe, I strongly believe that Bigogwe should
become a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Rwanda. It gives
a visitor something that cannot be found simply by visiting
conventional tourist attractions. It makes the journey personal,
authentic, and unforgettable.
As a mother, I was especially happy to see my son learning and
enjoying himself at the same time.
I highly recommend Gama Travel to families, couples, international
visitors, and anyone who wants to discover Rwanda in a different way.

Amazing experience, highly recommended!
We used Splendid Vacations for our safari trip during our honeymoon and we couldn’t be happier. The staff helped us picking our hotels and each one of them was perfect. During the safari itself the service was amazing, our driver and tour guide August was very nice and made our experience truly amazing. It was clear that the overall experience was very well crafted and all for a very fair price. Highly recommended!!

Candice and Trevor were amazing right from first point of enquiry to even after we came back home.
We gave a maximum budget list of what we wanted to experience and they organised our all inclusive trip including airfares to and from South Africa, all internal transfers and most meals etc.
Process was very smooth and easy.
Our holiday experience was exceptional! Candice had chosen accomodation and ventures were to a high standard. We had nothing more to pay when we arrived except the tips and the odd meal not covered in package. 6 day safari between 2 lodges were breathtaking to see the big 5 so close. Trevor kept in touch with us as time got closer to travel to see if there was anything else we would like to do and see. We added on the chopper flight over Victoria Falls wilst in Zimbabwe, to which he organised and we paid upfront. This was truly amazing as with many other memories that will stay with us.

Very serious and reliable company
We booked a 3 day tour to Murchison Falls, including chimpanzee tracking in Budongo on our last day (the reserve is located within Murchison Falls National Park).
Everything worked very well with the agency. The tour was very complete: we visited the Top of the Falls, went on a boat cruise along the Nile, did two day game drives, also had a night game drive and the chimps tracking.
We requested a low budget private tour with a camping option. They arranged for us to spend both nights at Red Chilli Camp in Murchison Falls. However, when we got into the car to start the trip, we were informed that we would actually be staying in a tented camp (an upgrade that we really appreciated). The camp was very nice and clean, and the food there was good.
Our guide, Allan, was incredible. He was always kind, respectful, and willing to accommodate all our requests. He is a great safari guide, always looking carefully for animals, and he has a real talent for finding leopards! :)
We felt very comfortable with Allan and with the entire Abantubo team. We highly recommend this agency; they are serious, professional, and reliable.

Flexible, understanding and fun
We had an amazing 2-day safari to Mikumi National Park with Asante Bibi Tours & Safaris, and we highly recommend them.
From the very beginning, the experience was excellent, even though we were late with planning and booking. Communication was very fast, and they always answered our questions quickly. The booking process was easy, including secure online payment, and they were very flexible and willing to adjust the safari according to our wishes. We really appreciated that they listened to us and helped create the experience we wanted.
When we arrived by ferry in Dar es Salaam, everything was organised perfectly. We were met and taken care of from the start. Pray was with us throughout the whole journey and made sure everything went smoothly, from the train and car transfers to the safari and return to Dar es Salaam.
The safari itself was unforgettable. We had a private safari vehicle with a knowledgeable guide and driver, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the wildlife. We were lucky to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos and many other animals. Seeing lions and elephants in their natural environment was a truly special experience. We also saw a lot of animals on our way to and from the national park.
Pray was not only professional and helpful, but also very friendly and funny. His good humour and positive attitude made the journey even more enjoyable. We felt safe, relaxed and well looked after the entire time.
The trip included lunch, dinner, accommodation at a comfortable lodge, breakfast, a visit to a Maasai community, time to relax by the pool and lunch before returning to Dar.
A special thank you to Pray, our guides and drivers Abel and Mwanaidi for making this safari such a memorable experience. Their personal attention made a big difference. Axis provided me the best budgeted safari and stay
Axis gave me one of the best Masai Mara safari experiences at a great price.
They arranged my stay at Sankale Camp, where the caretakers were incredibly warm and welcoming. They truly made me feel at home throughout my stay.
I was lucky enough to see the Big Five on Day 1 itself! A big thanks to Raymond, our guide, who went above and beyond to give us the best experience and make sure we got the best views of the animals.
I’m really glad I chose Axis. They made my Masai Mara trip truly memorable, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a safari.

Opt for Raymond and Sankale
Choosing a safari company was honestly quite confusing. We spent a lot of time researching and contacting different operators before deciding on Axis Safaris. After the experience, I can confidently say we made the right choice.
We visited Masai Mara during the peak season, so we were a little nervous about the crowds, pricing and whether everything would actually go as promised. But Axis was very professional from the beginning. The communication was clear, the arrangements were smooth, and everything felt trustworthy and well organised.
But the biggest reason our safari was so good was our guide, Raymond.
Raymond was exceptional. He has great leadership and people skills, and you can tell that he genuinely enjoys what he does. He wasn’t just driving us around looking for animals — he understood the Mara, knew where to look and was constantly communicating with other guides. He has good relationships with guides from other companies as well, which was a huge advantage. When there was a good sighting somewhere, information would quickly travel between the guides and Raymond knew how to get us there.
That made a massive difference, especially during peak season. We got some incredible sightings and never felt like we were just following the crowd. Raymond was also extremely patient and always made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
Our stay at Sankale was another pleasant surprise. Considering this was a relatively budget-friendly safari, the room was excellent — clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. After spending hours on game drives, having a comfortable place to come back to was definitely appreciated.
For us, we somehow ended up with the perfect combination: a reasonably priced safari with Axis, an amazing guide like Raymond, and a comfortable stay at Sankale. It gave us the experience we wanted without feeling like we had to spend a fortune.
There are obviously many safari operators to choose from, and we did our homework before booking. Based on our experience, Axis Safaris is a company I would happily recommend if you’re looking for something professional, reliable and reasonably priced.
And if you get Raymond as your guide, consider yourself lucky! 😄
