Kenya is absolutely one of the amazing wonders and destination of the world.
We booked a 4 days safari that felt quite short but since we were limited on time, it had to do. A special shoutout to Rueben our guide who was so friendly and quite engaging all through. Our hotel sarova was also pure vibes that we enjoyed. We definitely will recommend them over and over again.

Incredible Birthday Trip with Shadows of Africa – Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar
We just returned from a phenomenal trip to Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar to celebrate our 50th birthdays. Shadows of Africa made it truly unforgettable! From start to finish, they took care of every detail — even helping us smoothly handle a last-minute flight change.
Karen was incredibly responsive and worked with us to create an excellent, personalized itinerary that blended cultural activities with thrilling safari drives through a wide variety of stunning landscapes.
Our guides, Mercy and Loma, were excellent — knowledgeable, kind, and always going above and beyond. Loma used his expertise to get us a front-row view of the Great Migration crossing — something no one else we spoke to was able to witness! We were shocked by the sheer number and variety of animals we saw throughout the trip.
Staying in tented camps gave us the full safari experience, and we absolutely loved the picnic meals out in the wild. The itinerary was perfectly paced, blending adventure and relaxation, and every lodge and meal exceeded expectations.
This was truly the trip of a lifetime — we can’t thank Shadows of Africa enough for making our milestone birthday celebration so special. We 100% recommend them to anyone planning a safari or East Africa adventure!
Excellence to the smallest detail.
A once in a lifetime “bucket list “ adventure. Exciting and beautiful from the second we landed. All accommodations were excellent with great staffs. Animals from the second the actual safari started. Highly educated tour guides made the trip that much more memorable. I can go on for hours with accolades. An absolute must in life!
Great Safari for the whole family
We went on an 8 day safari with two young children in July and had a fantastic trip. Before the trip all communication was done with Fredrick who was extremely responsive, usually responding within a few minutes. We made several modifications to the suggested itinerary, and Fredrick accommodated the requests and gave us several options to choose from when we didn't have something specific in mind. On the safari we had Jackson as our guide and he was incredible, asking what we wanted to get out of the tour (i.e. what animals we wanted to see) and he delivered on all requests (other than an elusive leopard :)). Jackson was very knowledgeable about the animals and locations while being very friendly and flexible and managing to maneuver the jeep into great viewing positions. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend Apodiformes.

When is the best tours that we have ever taken.
At the beginning of the tour, I had a lot of doubt about the safety of being in Ethiopia. Once we arrived at the airport, we met Maereg and I started to feel more comfortable. At each moment, he made us feel safe and always was very attentive. At every step, he would answer any question that we would have. He was also an amazing photographer and took many great photos! Because of this and many more reasons, he made the trip to Ethiopia unforgettable. Thank you Maereg and team for all your help! God bless you! 🙏

Kentau could not have done better for our family trip!
We just got back from 2 weeks of traveling in Kenya as a family of 4 (kids age 10 and 13) organized and run by Kentau and had an absolutely amazing time. Dominic helped organizate the details and was tirelessly responsive and informative to my barrage of questions and iterations on our itinerary (I'm sure he thought they would never end!). Our driver/guide, and now friend, Fred was very experienced as well as focused on our trip, what would be best for our goals and to maximize our time in Kenya. He quickly worked through any unexacted bumps in the road that came up (because something will always come up!). Beyond expectations, Fred had unending patience for our girls (their ups and downs) and was genuinely engaged in their areas of interest like riding horses in the US and learning about softball. You could tell Fred was a life long learner himself and brings that love of information/exploration to his guiding. We could not have asked for a better trip and offer a BIG THANKS to the team that helped pull it off.

From start to finish, our African Safari with Retiti Safaris far exceeded all expectations! The level of service, comfort, and attention to detail was outstanding. The accommodations at Mtito Safari Camp, which is set in natural surroundings was just lovely. Clean, safe, and special. The fresh, homegrown food was so delicious!
The vehicles Retiti provided for all transportation were excellent! Clean, spacious, and able to manage the bumpy roads and muddy areas perfectly. Every day brought something magical-sunrise and sunset game drives, visits to the Giraffe Center and Elephant Orphanage, and a hot air balloon ride in the wild!
What made the experience truly exceptional were our amazing guides, lead by Catherine Chege. Their planning of everything, flexibility, knowledge of wildlife, landscape, and local culture was remarkable. They were all personable, passionate, and able to answer every question we had along the way, We were so fortunate to be able to see the Big Five, and so much more! I will be forever grateful for this once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend Retiti Safaris! Ask for Catherine Chege to help you plan a trip that will become on of your most memorable! There aren't enough words to describe how incredible this was for my family and me!

Best Safari EVER!
Everything about this safari was amazing! From the moment we met them we were greeted with the kindest, most welcoming people. The guides got us to every animal we wanted to see, and were extremely knowledgeable about all of them. The jeep rides were so fun as they taught us Kenyan songs, told us funny stories, and became our friends! All the places we stayed exceeded my expectations by far. They were very nice and accommodating. The safari jeeps were very comfortable and nice, and always stocked with bottled water. Everything was planned out to perfection thanks to Catherine Chege. She was the sweetest to work with! If i go back to Kenya I will 100% be using them again!

Amazing trip around Uganda
We had an amazing 17 day trip around Uganda with Ivan. Ivan helped us work out a tailored itinerary, which included Gorillas, hiking and safari trips. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going to Uganda!

Please please please believe all the negative reviews as they are sadly true!
I was hoping so badly that we would not be one of the groups writing this review, but we also lost our money to this company. They stole our deposit of $12,956.40 and asked us to find lodgings, pay park entrances, and pay for the drivers and fuel ALL OVER AGAIN. We had this trip planned since 2023 and paid the money in April 2024. By the time we came across all the negative reviews in 2025, it was too late for us. This company was once stellar but that is no longer. The customer service we had was horrendous. Esther was our contact, and she was non-responsive. We not only had them taking our money, but then we had to provide the itinerary OURSELVES to the drivers since she couldn't even do as much as that the night before we were supposed to go on our safari. It was a nightmare experience. Thankfully, the second tour operators we worked with were much better, and we only dealt with NKWS on the first 3 days. I would highly recommend you try to get your money back if you have the time. If not, then you will probably be in the same boat as us. They e-mailed us TWO DAYS before our trip to tell us we owed the money again by the way. During busy season! This company needs to be shut down and no longer allowed to book tours for people!
