Review about Skeleton Coast National Park by Auriol Langen

The Skeleton Coast Park is flat, stark, desolate, but has a fascination of its own.

About: Zambia
South Lwange was amazing in May, Kafue had good wildlife sightings, but far fewer

I traveled via Cross Country Safaris to Zambia in May 2017. I visited 3 camps in Kafue and South Lwange. Cross Country chose beautiful camps in Chichele Lodge and Flatdogs Camp. Amazing wildlife sightings and great service and comfort at these two camps. I've been on about 6-7 wildlife safaris, and this ranked first or 2nd best. I wish Cross Country had told me more about Kafue, despite the fact that I read it had less wildlife. We did see typically one good game sighting each drive, but far less density of sightings than at South Lwange. If I went back to Kafue, it would be in September. Tseste flies were quite noticeable in Kafue. I found camp staff a little less well trained at Kafue than at South Lwange, and thought it was wierd that they have live shooting practice for rangers inside the park, rather than in the Game Management Area.

Good Budget Safari
4/5

Communication with company was very good prior to safari. They were quickly responsive to any question that we had. Upon arrival, pick-up at the airport was smooth and tour group was able to arrange for in-town transportation for us as we had a full day in Arusha before the start of our safari. The driver was professional and Footslopes arranged for a good price.

Footslopes walked us to an ATM machine and helped us pick out SIM cards and then properly load them on our phones. This was really appreciated.

The safari vehicle was nice and comfortable with a pop-top to be able to take good pictures of the animals.

The wildlife and bird watching was excellent in all of the parks we visited. Our guide was quite knowledgeable about animals and birds.

This is a budget safari and if you're not as worried about dining selections and hot water and more worried about animals and birding, then this is the safari for you.

We do recommend this tour but with the knowledge that it is a budget/value option.

At first I did not want to risk. Just like any other person I wanted to see the credibility of these guys..The moment I decided to give them I shot I was glad I did..right from pick up Patrick was so kind and welcoming. I was ushered into a luxurious tour van which made my travel even better than I expected. The whole safari took 3 days 2nights..I got the chance to visit and masai mara. Thank You guys for making my holiday a success. Will surely recommend

When you are floating close to the shores of the big lakes you'll see lots of beautiful birds. We saw many elephants, some lions and big number of Uganda cobs. Although the bush vibe and the scenic beauty are a bit less because of the road running through a part of the park.

A multiday adventure in Namibia
Overall rating
4/5

When visiting Etosha, try to plan your stay for several days. the park has multiple camps (with bungalows and tent places) from where you can discover the wild life of Etosha.

The Etosha N.P. has several waterholes which, during drought, are roamed by zebra's, giraffes, lions, rhino buffalo, leopards and so on. All these waterholes are near the roads making this is almost a guarantee to see a great variety of animals.

I was in Etosha for 4 days and stayed for the first days at the Okaukuejo camp. On the campsite is a large swimming pool and small stores where you can buy food, drinks and books about the park and animal recognition.
During the day I joined various safari's where you follow the dirt road at slow pace and hold at every waterhole.
This campsite also has its own waterhole. My advice is to visit it after sunset. Its easily accessible and the spectator area is on a rocky hill giving a beautiful overview of the waterhole and area.
This was our first encounter with a leopards who came for a drink.

My second destination was the Halali-camp which also has its own large waterhole. During the day I (obviously) went on safari where we found a pride of Lions. In the evening we went on a 3
5-hour night safari where you go off the road with jeeps and red flashlights.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and will go there again in the future.

We drove from cape town all along the coast to Namibia. As we left SA behind us trees and bushes slowly disappeared and made place for the vast desert of Namibia. Heading north the scenery changed back again as it became more green.
No matter the landscape you will find wildlife like Oryxes and Zebra’s everywhere.

Amazing adventure that stays with you long after it has ended
4/5

The safari was good. We only did a short one over a weekend, but got all we needed and made some good friends on the way. Where we stayed was great and the tour guides were great too. We are vegetarians, so that was our only struggle, to find suitable food. Otherwise we were very happy.

Good safari for a good price
4/5

I booked a 3 days/2 nights safari and it was really worth it. Got to see all of the Big 5 and a couple of cheetas. We camped in Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. The tents were a little bit smelly and wet. A cook joined us to prepare all the meals and did a wonderful job. The guides could make some effort to improve their English and provide more explanations regarding the animals and their habitat during the safari.
