About: Namibia
The most diverse scenery that still looks untouched by humans.
Overall rating
4/5

Arranged the Trip through Great Explorations. (Outstanding) Flew to Windhoek and hired a 4x4 from Namibia 2 Go. Drove down to Sesriem in the South where the magnificent red dunes then Deadvlei where the trees are frozen in time from a million years ago when the river dried up. Temperatures in the upper 20's Took the Spreetshoogte Pass on route to Solitaire and witnessed the Moonscape like surroundings. A sight to behold. Drove to Swakopmund through canyons and incredible scenery. Roads are quite rough so we welcomed the 4x4. Recommend that you do the Living Desert Tour in Swakop which was so informative. Cooler weather here low 20's The Namibia desert is the oldest desert in the world and holds many secrets. Then drove through the Skeleton Coast on tar and salt roads on the way to Damaraland. Visiting Palmwag and Twyfelfontein. Much warmer here in the mid 30's. Again amazing scenery. Then into Etosha for 4 nights. Don't expect the same type of accommodation or first world service in the park. The roads were in terrible condition perhaps due to a lot of rain about 2 weeks prior. This impacted on the game viewing experience as there was little need for the game to seek water at the waterholes. The waterholes at the camp were a highlight for evening viewing and are recommended. Weather early 30's. Good birding which helped with the lack of animals.
It would be great if The government controlled park could do more maintenance. We spent 4 days driving through large areas of the park and didn't see one grader working on the roads. We would like to revisit Namibia and do the South where Luderitz is and also far North if possible. Would probably give Etosha a miss.

NOT in the Okavango Delta, NOT really a safari - read the fine print carefully!
2/5

Be Warned: We were so excited to book our Luxury Okavango Safari. The blurb said that the luxury tented safari lodge is located on the banks of the Boteti River which has its origins in the heart of the Okavango Delta. What didn't it say? that the Lodge was 3 hours drive from the Delta on the other side of Maun, in the middle of farmland next to a muddy fried up river. We felt pretty stupid to have been conned, but the only other couple at the lodge when we arrived said that they had been taken in too and another guest had chosen to leave early for the same reason. The misleading advertising felt very deliberate. For a luxury experience, other things seemed off too. There was no cooling system or fridge in the tents (this was a problem as my partner had meds that needed to be kept cool). Drinking water had to be purchased by the bottle. The swimming pool was green with algae when we arrived - the staff did empty, clean a refill it but it was not available for the first two day of the stay. If after reading this you are still keen to go (or you've already paid and can't get your money back), what can you look forward too? The small staff was very friendly. The guides were extremely knowledgeable. Our main guide went above and beyond to ensure we saw lions in Moremi even though he must have put in a 13+ hour day with all the driving to and from the park. The chef was excellent. We were asked about preferred foods and eating times (the lodge was extremely quiet when we were there so she tailored things to our exact wishes). The mokoro and walking safari, and Moremi game drive were wonderful (just wish we hadn't wasted hours getting to them). However, as some other reviews have said, it seemed like the foreign owners didn't really care about the lodge, the staff or the visitor experience that they were offering. I would recommend avoiding, and finding somewhere actually in the Delta to stay. If you can't afford that, just stay in Maun and do daytrips.

The BEST of All
5/5

We just returned from a fantastic trip to Kenya and Tanzania. We are so happy with Laxatrails Safaris. We communicated with them via email and WhatsApp many times before the trip and they were very responsive and helpful. All of the arrangements they made during our trip were great from the driver/guides, Accommodations along the way and hotel in Nairobi before and after the trip. We would like to visit Africa again and will use Laxatrails Safaris to arrange our next adventure. We won't soon forget waking up at night to the sound of lions roaring, hyenas yipping and hippos grunting.

5/5

We had a great safari with our guide Peter. We did 4 days and had an amazing time. Everything was taken care of for us - park fees, lodging, food, etc. They picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off right at the airport, simple as can be! Highly recommend.

I had a great experience. They were on time. They knew the way around from Nairobi to Mt. Longonot. They managed the time well. I saw value for money

Simon from Africa Best Safari exceeded our wildest expectations
5/5

We contacted Simon a few days before arrival.
He responded to our inquiry very quickly and comprehensively.
He took GREAT care of us
He picked us up from the bus, arranged a great overnight stay, and booked Safafi at Hwange Park, the Zambezi Sunset Cruise, and a guided tour of Victoria Falls.
Organization at the HIGHEST level, everything on time.
We highly recommend the services of Africa Beast Safaris.

Efficient and customer-friendly
5/5

The tour was organized well, we were picked up as agreed. Our guide Jeff was really good. He was really aiming to deliver us a good and complete experience. He drove quickly to get us to see all the animals and listened to our wishes. We also appreciated much that Jeff was not hunting for a tip. That gave us a feeling of genuineness.

My wife and I were organizing our own trip to Nairobi and Mombasa, but wanted to include some safari travel. I knew what I wanted - not rock bottom accommodation but equally not over expensive. I found all the information on the web-sites rather overwhelming, trip adviser reviews unreliable, and impossible to make decisions.

I liked the look of Transtrek safaris web-site and had a good telephone conversation with Daniel. He was clearly very knowledgeable (English but living in the country with his young family) , immediately understood what I was looking for, and made excellent proposals. I had already wanted to stay a couple of nights in a community run and very cheap rooms near one of the parks, and even though this was not on his usual list, that didn't worry him, and he made the complete booking to include them. An excellent driver and guide picked us up in Nairobi and accompanied us during our visit, and then drove us on to Mombasi.

I would throughly recommend Transtrek to anyone visiting Kenya for the first time, - and for a return visit!

Fantastic experience
5/5

The safari was fantastic. We went as a group of 9 and Soul of Tanzania provided us with two, comfortable jeeps. The nine of us agree that it was a trip of a lifetime, we won’t forget it in a long, long time. A huge thank you and shoutout to our wonderful guides, Wilson and Walter!

Profesional and caring team
5/5

Big thank you to Berngo Safaris for organising such a great 3 day tour. We’ve spent 2 amazing days on safari in Tarangire and Ngorongoro crater. We were lucky to see Big Five. Everything was organised on a high level. On the 3rd day we had an exciting hike in Kilimanjaro village. In the end we saw a wonderful show of coffee making and we also had a chance to take part in its preparation. All these 3 days we enjoyed amazing food, super wonderful and picturesque overnight stays (in a beautiful lodge) and all this due to our amazing guides Ombeni, and local chagga guide Ernest. Without you guys we wouldn’t have had such a great experience. You are truly professionals. Highly recommended
