Trip of a lifetime
5/5

This was my second time using Spirit of Kenya and I highly recommend it. Vanessa was awesome helping us plan the trip. So much patience for my endless questions. Our driver John Kitonga was exceptional. So patient, very knowledgeable, safe and respectful. All of the tented camps we stayed at were all we could have asked for and more. We did Nairobi national park (Nairobi tented camp), Ol Pejeta (Serena Sweetwaters), Lake Nakuru (Ziwa bush lodge..they support an orphanage),Amboseli (Kibo safari camp), Tsavo West (Voyager Ziwani)Tzavo East (Sateo Camp), Lake Naivasha (Naivasha Kongoni Lodge)Masai Mara (Julias river camp)

Wonderful safari experience!
5/5

I don’t even know where to start. We went to Selous Kinga Lodge for our honeymoon and the very moment we arrived at the lodge we received the most unbelievable welcome from the whole team who had gathered to greet us. Not only are the people so kind and smiley and friendly, the lodge itself it so beautifully decorated. The main structure is just as pretty and comfortable as the photos show, and our room was actually really nice. We expected it to be more basic but it was again beautifully decorated, and made up superbly by the housekeeping staff every day. Power sockets, fans, hot water, spacious, and very clean. There was also a lovely clean swimming pool that was maintained constantly by Isa who did well to keep on top of all the falling leaves the monkeys caused. (Baboons everywhere!).

As for the activities, I mean we did two full day safaris and saw hundreds of animals. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wilderbeast, hippo, crocodiles, baboons, warthogs, various types of deer, and a resting hyena. We also did a sunset boat safari on the lake and saw hippos, crocs, monitors and various birds all while watching the sun set on Africa. It was everything we had hoped to see when planning the trip. But aside from the views and animals, it was the people that really made it perfect. Our safari guide Nickson was just the nicest man. We spent two full days (and an evening) together and we couldn’t have envisaged a better guide. Extremely knowledgeable of all the wildlife and nature, and had a real sense for where the animals would be. Lions aren’t always easy to find and it wasn’t just by luck that we found them. Not only did Nickson have a good sense but unbelievable eyesight. But above all he is such a genuine and kind guy.

He wasn’t the only one. At the lodge Moana and Daniel were always always on hand with the biggest smiles and energy. Mathew and Amon did a walking safari and village tour on the last day and were very passionate, friendly, and knowledgeable too. (Watch out for Mathew’s dance moves through the day!) The chefs made actually super tasty meals. We weren’t sure what to expect but they were all really really good - and we are very fussy eaters! I mentioned the housekeeping kept on top of everything day and night, the drivers friendly, the security rangers were lovely and the grounds staff worked constantly to maintain the grounds and make it look tidy and inviting. But all of this doesn’t just happen by itself. The manager, Kenedy, has obviously done a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything and everyone come together to create what me and my wife both agreed was a five star experience. For tremendous value compared to everything else we looked at.

The tourism sector all around the world is still recovering from the effects and after effects of covid, and I can only imagine what it must have taken to keep things going. We booked this trip via Safaribookings.com and all of our contact beforehand was with Mohammed who I’m guessing manages all of the online side of things (also very lovely and helpful, and especially quick to reply via WhatsApp). If you are looking around and want to find that perfect African safari experience, I don’t think you could possibly find anything more perfect than the Selous Kinga Lodge!

An amazing and unforgettable adventure with Spirit of Kenya!
5/5

Both my husband and I agreed that the trip to Kenya was one of our best and most memorable trips! Our daughter also loved it, she told everything to her nursery friends and teachers the second day we went back to the UK. Then the nursery even organise a Show and Tell session, to let her share pictures and stories. Furthermore, the nursery took the chance to taught the little ones about Africa, Kenya, and Masai :)

The trip designed by Spirit of Kenya was a good combination of excitement to see wild animals, experiencing different cultures, and the relaxation on beautiful beach. Our hosts were super hospitable. We particularly love the Legend Camp in Masai Mara. My husband joked that we should be grateful that the hotel booked initial didn't work out, or else we would miss this good experience :) They were especially kind and nice to our daughter. When they asked if we will come back someday to see big migrant, particularly emphasized "Please do take your daughter with you......":)

We have to emphasize that the trip would be completely different without our lovely guide Samuel! He is very knowledgeable that we learnt not only the landscape and travel about Kenya, but also the culture, ethnicity, even political of Kenya. He is super friendly to all of us especially to our daughter. When we said goodbye at the airport, our daughter was so sad said she missed Samuel very much!

Our amazing personal journey designer Venessa is also essential to our trip! I chose Spirit of Kenya initially from all other options, mainly because she always responded in such a good time manner. We highly appreciate her assistance during the whole trip as well!

An amazing Couple Safari - thank you Ann, Wilfred and the whole Extra Miles Unique Adventures Team!!
5/5

When I first thought about taking my girlfriend to Kenya to experience an African Safari together, I didn’t know where to start. Fortunately, Google was there to help, so I found out about safaribookings.com where there host a huge number of companies offering Safari trips of a variety of itineraries, features, lengths and budget. To narrow down my search I used 3 main criteria: customer reviews, itinerary and cost. Based on these criteria, I shortlisted a handful of companies and then contacted 3 of them that seemed most appealing to me. Only one of them (Extra Miles Unique Adventures) offered a “Couple Safari” that I knew of, which intrigued me, but I wanted to remain unbiased. All three companies responded quite quickly with the information requested and price quotes. However, I was impressed by the professionalism, the attention to detail and the clarity and promptness of the communication from Extra Miles. So, I decided to settle down on them, and I am so glad that I did!

Ann, a Tour Consultant with Extra Miles, was my main point of contact. I cannot thank her enough for all the help she provided over a period of over 2.5 months! Ann was always very prompt, clear and courteous in her communications – whether via email or via WhatsApp (which is what we mostly used starting shortly before the tour and throughout the duration of the tour). She was very helpful in customizing the tour for us – from modifying the itinerary to adding lodging/hotel/airport transfer in Nairobi before and after the Safari, while being mindful of my budget and other considerations. Since the tour was advertised as a “Couple Safari”, I wanted to know what it actually meant. She told me that there was going to be some decoration/romantic arrangements in the lodge that we will stay at Maasai Mara at the beginning of the trip, and I was satisfied with that. However, to my surprise (and to my girlfriend’s surprise, of course), it was much more than that! We were very happy with all the fun and romantic ideas Ann and the team incorporated into our experience, which made our very first African Safari as pleasant and memorable as we could have ever imagined! I’m not going to get into the detail of the various things they arranged for us just to avoid spoiling the surprise of the future Safari participants

Passionate about Africa
5/5

Our trip to Tanzania with a group of seven friends was hosted by Archie Rutherford from Ranger Buck Safaris and we had the most incredible experience. We flew into Arusha via Dar-es-salaam and transferred to the Lions Paw Lodge on the Ngorongoro crater rim. The accommodation was very good, but most importantly, quick and simple access to the crater floor and the most amazing game viewing experience and scenery. From there we drove up through the Serengeti National park and stayed overnight at Sametu Camp in the Centre of the Park. Endless wide open grass plains with plenty of game and very good food and friendly staff at the lodge. Our final stop was the north of the park at the Serengeti Mara River Camp, where we got to see huge numbers of wildebeest and three spectacular river crossings. Three day later we flew back to Arusha and back to Johannesburg through Dar es Salaam. Overall the experience was incredible and very good value for money. The only thing I would change is potentially flying one of the legs up through the park as opposed to driving, but the accommodation, service and the staff at the lodges was excellent. Ranger Buck Safaris was superb throughout and a brilliant host on the trip. Hope to do it all again someday.

Liberty is great to work with and very trustworthy
5/5

We are from Birmingham, Alabama USA. We booked online with Cocoon Safaris due to the very reasonable rate. When we got in country they contacted us and there were some payment logistics that needed to be changed. We were hesitant at first but Liberty is honest and great to work with. We ended up doing several extra things and he was able to coordinate everything to make our trip very easy and convenient. We will absolutely use him again anytime we are in the area.

Absolute incredible experience!! Amazing service and our guide Apollo was incredible!!
5/5

From the start of our booking process for our honeymoon trip to the masai mara for a safari George and his team were incredible!! We had a slight hiccup with the airlines as the airline itself leaving Nairobi was very non communicative regarding our flight (the airport is small and not modern) a quick call to George and the airline attendants literally came running to guide us to our private flight to the Mara!! Upon arrival our guide Apollo was waiting for us and while driving to our camp Entim he got word of a lion pride killing a buffalo!! We raced over and got to witness an incredible sight of a pride eating a buffalo!! This was just the start of what Apollo found for us over the next 4 days! Once we arrived to the camp we were blown away by how incredibly luxurious the camp, the staff, and the food was!! To say we were spoiled is an understatement!! 4 course meals with options at every meal!! Unlimited wine, beer, and well drinks were flowing!! We fell in love with the Kenyan national cocktail the Dawa!! Vodka, local honey and lime!! The luxury tents were so peaceful and spacious and we feel asleep every night to the sounds of hippos grazing outside our tent!! The local Masaai tribesmen walked us to our tents every night because you are staying in a game preserve!! We saw all of the Big 5 and so much more!! We opted to fly to Diani beach to continue our honeymoon and they accommodated that as well!! Highly recommend this tour company!!!
