Magical at sunset (and probably sunrise). One of the few parks in the continent to see rhinos.

About: Kenya
2.5 safari and beach

5/5

Had an amazing 2.5 week trip to Kenya in late December early January. Weather was amazing however locals stated the mini wet was underwhelming this year. The dry season starts in January and we had no rain (except for a few drops in Hells Gate). On our 2 week trip we had an 8 day Safari including Ol Pejeta, Lake Nukuru, Maasai Mara, Hell's gate NP and Amboseli. We then had 8 days on the cost Watamu, Mombasa and Diani.

Safari

We saw the big 5 in 3 days with the Leopard being the most elusive. Ol Peteja and Lake Nukuru were great for rhinos. With conservation entrenched in Kenyan society it makes for the best Rhino viewing in Africa. Maasi Mara was iconic abundant with wildlife but minus the migration chaos. There was a max of 8-10 cars for a predator in January which does seem allot but is still much lower than peak season (migration). Highly recommend the Mara Big 5 camp which was peak glamping luxe with amazing food. We would also recommend a cultural tour of one of the traditional Maasai villages. Hell's gate was a nice change of scenery as we were able to bike it as opposed to being in the car. If you are interested in viewing Kilimanjaro and seeing elephents Amboselii is worth while, however Kilimanjaro usually has a but if cloud cover even on a clear blue sky day. Personally we would've opted for an extra day at Ol Pejeta on retrospect. We also saw many red elephants on our train trip from Nairobi to Mombasa on the Mardaka Express (highly recommend the premium experince- it's like plane business class for a $120 usd for a 5hr trip).

Our safari adventures continued on the coast with scuba diving in Watamu (my first time) and snorkelling in Wasai marine park (1hr South if Diani). Overall we felt safer and easier to access shops, restaurants and less hassle on the beach in Diani than Watamu. Watamu is smaller and more village like with good Swahili food (and many average Italian options). For Watamun I would recommend to book things a 4-5 days in advance (like diving, SUP and dhow trips).

Accomadation during our safari was fantastic. We noted Kenyan hotels have a lower rating than Australian hotels on websites like Booking.com which we could not understand the rooms and service was fantastic. Oddly we found the higher rated accomadation to be more basic (with excellent service), maybe because these were more social enterprises giving back to the community.

An amazing safari tour across multiple national parks in Tanzania
5/5

Our guide, Exaudy, was amazing.
We had a private truck for 2 weeks. He got a driver, so he could spend time with us in the back to guide & explain.
Exaudy is very knowledgeable and helpful.
We went to Mkomazi, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Ndutu, Serengeti, Mwanza and Rubondo Island.

All parks, other then Rubondo Island are incredible. The guidance and attention to the group from Exaudy were outstanding.
I suggest replacing Rubondo Island with Saanane Island. It's closer to Mwanza and they have new beautiful cabins there. Ask Exaudy. He has exclusive access to those.

Highly recommend hiring Exaudy and Utukufu Travels

Absolutely incredible. Mica our guide and our chef went above and beyond for us. We saw all BIG 5!
5/5

The team was very patient and supportive, going above and beyond for us. I highly recommend Simbaland and making sure you get Mica as a guide! We will have memories for the rest of our lives and will never forget. Tip Mica big! He deserves it.

Note: Be ready for a bumpy ride - it's just a part of the deal. Also be prepared for sleeping in tents and do what is necessary to make yourself comfortable. I also recommend being VERY clear on what you need for food. They will go above and beyond for you, just make sure you tell them clearly what your needs are.

5/5

First of all I want to thank the whole team for this unforgettable experience!

We stayed at the Kruger Gate Hotel and it was perfect, even better than described/in the pictures.
The team, Konghi, Norman (in the field) and Marcus always made us feel welcome and provided us with the best safari experience possible.
Special thanks goes to Norman (in the office) who was always super quick to reply and answer all of my questions, even during the stay.

A satisfying 2 nights and 3 days
5/5

Axis Africa’s 2-night, 3-day safari tour was a wonderful experience that will remain a lasting memory in my life.
Tabitha, who handled the reservation, responded promptly and kindly, which greatly increased my trust in Axis Africa.
Mohammed, who guided the safari game drives, enabled us to see many animals, including the Big Five, in just one day, and his detailed explanations were very helpful in deepening our understanding.
I would gladly recommend Axis Africa to others.

An unforgettable journey
5/5

We traveled as a couple and chose Serengeti Wakanda for our 5-day safari in Tanzania, and we would choose them again a thousand times over.
From our very first request for information, we were assigned the extremely kind Goodluck as our main contact. He was always incredibly punctual with his replies and constantly made sure to fully understand what we were expecting from the safari, in order to guarantee us the best possible experience. Beyond organizing the parks and safari areas, as well as the overnight accommodations, Goodluck provided us with every possible piece of information regarding any curiosity or doubt we had. Truly outstanding support.

As for the safari itself, it is difficult to put into words all the emotions we experienced during this incredible journey. What we know for sure is that it would not have been the same without our amazing guide John.
John is not only a very friendly and genuinely funny person, but also a true living encyclopedia when it comes to African wildlife. Throughout the safari we asked him countless questions, and he always answered with enthusiasm, often adding even more fascinating details. His knowledge is not limited to animals alone, but also extends to the flora — absolutely incredible.
What impressed us the most is that John seems to know every single road, track, and area of the parks by heart, in a way that is honestly hard to believe. During the entire safari, he managed to transmit his deep love for nature and for this land, and thanks to his extraordinary experience, he gifted us with truly rare sightings. We were told that seeing a leopard on safari is quite rare… well, thanks to John (and our immense joy), we saw five of them! Not to mention the two rare rhinos in the Ngorongoro Crater, serval cats, cheetahs, and countless other extraordinary encounters.
John was also always extremely attentive to every one of our needs throughout the safari and during the game drives.
Thank you, John, for your kindness, your humor, and your incredible expertise!

Another fundamental person who made our safari truly unforgettable was our chef Sule. Sule accompanied us throughout the entire trip, preparing delicious meals especially for us. He carefully checked our food preferences and made sure to buy fresh, suitable ingredients every time. We can only be enthusiastic about the meals he prepared. Every single meal — from breakfast to lunch and dinner — was freshly cooked just before each occasion and perfectly organized so we could enjoy great food wherever we were during the game drives. All the dishes were absolutely delicious, and every day he surprised us by varying the menu, cooking not only local dishes but even Italian ones. Everything was truly excellent!

Our safari took place in the first days of January 2026 and included Tarangire, Serengeti, Ndutu, and the Ngorongoro Crater. All the accommodations were incredible, with a special mention for Taji House, right in the heart of the Serengeti, where we fell asleep at night to the sounds of hyenas, lions, and hippos, as well as the tent at Simba Camping in Ngorongoro, which was an absolutely breathtaking and unforgettable place.

We could talk for hours about this magnificent experience, but words would still not do it justice.
Thank you, Serengeti Wakanda — we are certain this is only a see you again.
