We recently had the unique opportunity to visit the Ngorongoro Crater during a Safari arranged by Road Scholar. It is a phenomenal destination and must see to anyone visiting East Africa. During our trip we toured Amboseli National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Carter, Serengti and Masai Mara. The highlight was the base of Ngorongoro Crater with its large variety of animals and birds that inhabit the Conservation area around Lake Magadi. We were able to easily view and photograph from close range elephant, cape buffalo, rhino, wildebeast, ostrich, zebra, topi, eland, warthog, gazelle, waterbuck, jackal, grey crowned stork, tawny eagle, black-sholdered kite, sacred ibis, weaver bird, kori and Hartlaub's Bustard, and many other birds. In the evening we enjoyed excellent entertainment and dinner at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge on the Crater rim. We highly recommend this facility for its rooms, views and superb food. Our guide was Edwin Nyabuto. He was the best possible guide in every aspect (knowledgeable, articulate, patient, helpful, caring of all participants)

About: Tanzania
So much wild life, great accommodation, 4 star tour operator

The wild life viewing was excellent, saw the big five and and was blown away by the number of animals everywhere. Weather was great, warm still days and mild nights. Both mid-range tented camps were awesome, like glamping, the Rhino lodge was also great. The lunches that our tour operators organized were not great.
Our guide was knowledgeable and got us close to the animals however his communication with the daily plans weren’t good, there was some communication problems and we were not told about certain experiences that we could have had, and had to wait around a couple of hours for differences in tours between other people in our car. There was some awkwardness regarding the tip, the guide accepted ours but other people in our group who offered less were made to feel bad and the guide asked for more from them which I thought was distasteful. We weren’t advised of tipping amounts/expectations prior to trip. Overall, has a great time and would reccommend the safari to others!!

Tanzania was beautiful with friendly people. The lodges were incredible, and driving though the countryside to get to them was a pleasant experience as well.

Exceeded expectations!

We live in Argentina and we got to Native Escapes by the internet, without having had any reference from anyone we knew. We were looking for a family safari and beach in east Africa.
Marie was so very helpful and immediately got the type of holidays we were looking for. All her suggestions were great and while in Tanzania we realized we had taken the right decision with NE. Our guide was great and helpful. Our children (13 and 11) were astonished from such an experience of watching wildlife that close. Accommodation was very good and food was good for us and the children.
This were one of our best holidays and Marie and Native Escapes had a lot to do with it.

I don't really have words to describe my experience with Hekima, this was beyond fantastic! I went to Tanzania for one week to meet my sister who was doing an internship in a hospital and was expecting to stay on my own for long periods of time until I met the Hekima family! They organized all my trips and sightseeing and treated me like family, never felt so welcomed in a country before! Amazing treatment, Very good value for money and extremely organized! The accommodation was also very good, even got a complementary upgrade on the first nights!

Vacay were brilliant - very helpful in accommodating our preferences when putting together the itinerary, very reasonably priced, great guide (friendly, helpful, knowledgeable - Andrew), lovely accommodation and we saw some amazing wildlife.

We stayed at lake Naivasha and the Masai Maara.

Thoroughly recommended.

Amazing safari - Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorogoro (mak
5/5

We booked a four day Safari to lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorogoro national park and it was amazing. The driver/guide Nyemo was very experienced and told us a lot about nature and culture there. We saw an incredible amount of animals of all kinds, including the big five and also the landscape was amazing. I had high expectations on this safari and can honestly say that they were met to my full satisfaction. It is really touching to see all these beautiful creatures up close in nature. In Serengeti a hyena passed just 10m away from our tents in the evening and at Ngorogoro when I went to the toilet at night I walked 10m away from a bunch of zebras. The meals provided by our cook xavi were very good, though not everybody was entirely happy with the lunch boxes, but as far as I could see they are more less the same with every company. The first night we spent in a lodge above lake Manyara the second night in Serengeti at a public camp site and the last night on the Ngorogoro rim at public camp site. Although most animals can be watched with bare eyes it is really essential to have good binoculars. Make sure before you leave that this is the case! Everybody from the company was extremely friendly and helpful!
