Review about Mikumi National Park by Tatiana Rudakova
Overall rating
5/5

We were lucky, for 1 day we saw almost all the animals that live in the park. Excellent guide Bob - the most daring of the guides, drove us to the car to the lioness almost immediately. We arrived at 9 am, at 13.00 we had lunch, and after that we continued the safari until 4pm. Lunch cost $ 5 per person. The road from Dar-es-Salam was very dangerous, a lot of wagons with cargoes, our driver many times went to a meeting and miraculously we managed to avoid a collision. This part of the safari - very spoiled the general impression. On the way back, the gasoline ran out and the driver did not have any money with him, he asked us to throw off him for gasoline $ 5. Nobody returned them, of course.

About: Kenya
Amazing! And great value for money, too!

All in all, fantastic trip! Our tour guide, Peter, was lovely and made sure we did see the big 5 (though we had only 1,5 days). The lodge was great too, but the food I cannot really recommend... Definitely worth going... Even if you don't have much time.

Good sense of Africa
5/5

I had a tour to Amboseli National Park and lake Magadi. Chris managed the tour and Ben was our tour guide and driver. Everything were arranged very well: accomodations, food, game drives, hot springs, and transport. Ben is a talent and kind tour guide.

A Trip of a Lifetime - thanks to Kay Adventure Tours
5/5

I am so grateful that we found Kay Adventure Tours on line. It was a bit of a leap of faith to plan such an extensive trip based on reviews only and no personal recommendations. Kay Adventure Tours exceeded expectations both before and during our amazing tour of Kenya and Tanzania. Our tour consultant, Moureen, was courteous, prompt and responsive in shaping a fabulous holiday from start to finish. She put together 3 - 4 itineraries for us; differing in number of days, location of stops and accommodations and helped us design the perfect tour for us. Moureen was also readily available throughout our tour to clarify details and address minor challenges - including the fact that my luggage did not arrive on the airline. I am ever so grateful that she was able to connect with the airline such that my luggage arrived the evening before we embarked on safari.
We had 2 amazing safari guides - Samwel in Kenya and Estommy in Tanzania. Both were very knowledgeable of the parks, geography, and were a wealth of information on the animals, birds and vegetation. They were professional, personable, courteous and fun and went out of their way to ensure we experienced the wildlife in an up close and personal way. From leopards with a fresh kill, to a male lion marking our jeep and picnicking with 2 elephants within very close vicinity. We saw the BIG 5 (repeatedly) as well as the UGLY 5! Samwel and Estommy also appeared to be well connected with the other safari guide drivers as they shared sightings. This is essential as the area is so vast.
We stayed in a variety of accommodations - from 5 star to more humble - all of which were sourced out by Moureen and approved by us before we left. On two occasions the accommodations had to be altered and, each time, we were upgraded. Without exception, the staff and service in all of the lodges and resorts we stayed in were exceptional. Most often the food was delicious and always abundant. They were able to cater to the dietary needs of 2 of our travel companions.
Finally, I would highly recommend traveling to Kenya and Tanzania in January! The crowds were reduced as it was not high season and as a result, we did not have to wait in line to enter parks, obtain visa entry, or to receive service anywhere! The weather was incredible - it was not stifling hot until we reached Zanzibar which is exactly what we wanted for the beach portion of our tour. On safari we were not jockeying with a multitude of other jeeps to gain visual access to the wildlife. And big bonus - very few bugs!
A huge thank you to Kay Adventure Tours - Moureen, Samwell and Estommy. Your efforts and professionalism made this a trip of a lifetime full of great memories and fabulous photos!

Great guide, helpful company, personalized itinerary... Highly recommend!
5/5

SAE was nothing but helpful while I was in the planning stages of my trip. I had a very vague idea of what I'd like to do and the team directed me into a week full of amazing adventure. They took on board what I was looking for out of my trip, my style with regard to accommodation and provided a service I would use again in a heart beat. My guide, Xavier, was fantastic. He went above and beyond to ensure my week met (and surpassed) my expectations. He was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and generally a great guy.
I will use them again as and when I can return to Africa, I genuinely cant recommend them enough. Thanks so much for everything!

Great experience of Uganda with an amazing driver
4/5

The pre-Safari communication with Simba was okay. We just expected a more active approach from Simba to send us guidelines and practical information since it was our first Safari. However we didn't receive such a practical info automatically. We had to send every time our questions to get answers. So a suggestion would be sending a standard practical info file to tourists so that they can organize their trips properly.

Our best part of our Safari service was our driver. Xavier was a great driver and guide. He was very punctual, responsible and expert in his job. We had an amazing experience of Safari with him, he took us everywhere and explained everything to us. Meanwhile we also had many interesting talks during the long Safari driving with him. We were very happy having him as our guide and I strongly recommend him.

The lodges booed by Simba were very nice too. My two favorite ones were gorilla mist and Forest camp. Gorilla mist was an incredible experience. The last lodge at lake bunanoyei, however, was not very proper. It was not very clean and comfortable.

In general we had a good experience with Simba and we are happy with our experience :)

Went to Masai Mara and Lake Naivash
5/5

I have experiences traveling all over the world from Japan. Still this is my first trip to Africa. That is Savannah Sound Safaris' trip to Kenya. First of all, I was very impressed about our guide Danson's delicate attentions to us. For example, advices for proper hydration, bathroom breaks, introducing souvenir shops. Although it is inconspicuous, in reality, the basic matters that would support the journey are carefully considered, and it was all perfect. Also I was impressed by his driving skill. There are not paved inside the wildlife reserve so it is bad rough road depending on the location. Even on the rough roads, he has specialty in the driving techniques to surely and safely. Thanks to his hospitality, I was able to fully enjoy every day without any concern.

We went to Masai Mara Game Reserve and Lake Naivasha in safari tour. In December we visited, many of gnus and zebras had moved to Tanzania, but still we could meet enough wildlife. According to guide Danson, it is difficult to find other animals in summer peak season because there are too many gnus and zebras. In fact, we could see the Big 5, as well as impalas, gazelles, warts, mongooses and tumblebugs so closely.

Even if there are many animals, the place where we can see them is not fixed. It is not a zoo in the city, you know. So, you have to go across the reserve widely. But it’s not smart to move blindly. You have to move and head to the point based on the information of the previous day, also the weather on the day or the situation. Danson accomplishes such supernatural work without any difficulty. A guide is not just a guide clerk, I think that it is an IP expert and also a creator.

My first Kenya. I had mixed feelings of expectations and anxiety before going out, but now only big satisfaction remains in my mind by encountering a wonderful guide, I would like to meet wild animals again with Savannah Sound Safaris next time.

Thank you very much.
