An incredible safari adventure
We had the most incredible private 5 day safari with Sunset Adventure Safari. We visited Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Sunset provided excellent value for money and the trip exceeded all of our expectations.
From the start Emma was great. She patiently answered all of our questions and shaped the trip to our specific requirements including adding a walking safari at Lake Manyara, sunset and sunrise game drives in the Serengeti (absolutely spectacular) and organising a surprise birthday cake for my Dad (which after waking up in the Serengeti and having the most incredible game drive honestly nearly brought him to tears). Before booking I felt overwhelmed with the number of options and providers online. However, we went with Sunset because of Emma’s customer service.
Over the 5 days we visited 4 different National Parks. Seleman was our guide, and he was fantastic! Warm, professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to get to know us and what we wanted. I love photography and Seleman helped me set up beautiful shots, many of which I have already printed and will cherish. His knowledge of the land and animal behaviour, ensured that we saw the big 5 up close (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) as well as so much more! His expertise meant we saw things that we definitely would have otherwise missed. A few of our highlights include watching lion cubs play, a successful leopard kill, breakfast whilst watching hundreds of zebra on the Serengeti plains, elephants silently emerging from the bush and walking right past us, cheetahs preening, the sights, sounds and smells of at least 100 hippos…the list goes on.
Over the 5 days we spent a lot of time driving and the landscapes are beautiful!! It’s really special to experience Tanzanian villages and everyday life in this way. Seleman shared his culture and local customs with us and there was always so much fun and laughter on our drives.
The lodges we stayed in were all great in terms of views, service, comfort and food. We particularly loved Osupuko, nothing beats staying inside the Serenegeti and Ngorongoro Wild Camp. Sitting with a glass of wine, on the veranda at sunset, scanning the bush for animals is an experience I will cherish.
We have so many wonderful memories. All thanks goes to Sunset Adventure Safari, and in particular Seleman, for ensuring we had the trip of a lifetime. Thank you.

Kevin was amazing!
Our experience was fantastic! We had Kevin to look after us and he was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and knew exactly where to take us. We felt well looked after. He was super friendly. We saw so many animals! It was a breathtaking experience.

Absolutely amazing!! Couldn’t have been better
We had the best driver! Kevin looked after us so well, he was knowledgeable about the animals in the park, so so friendly, a fantastic driver (we didn’t get stuck in the mud once), he assisted other drivers when they needed it, kept us safe and was a really good laugh. Honestly he made the whole experience for us and we couldn’t have appreciated him more. Thanks Kevin!

A tour operator that goes the extra mile
Joseph met us at our Nairobi accommodation and introduced us to Anthony our driver/guide with their impressive Safari truck. Ours was a private 3 day tour staying at the Ashnil Mara Camp so we had the six seater to ourselves.
An amazing experience all round. Anthony did a great job and did his level best to ensure we had a fantastic time.

Great guide, amazing journey
Our very amicable guide Eric showed us some great places and was quick to track many amazing wildlife on our 4-day safari. When one of our group members got ill (because of an infection unrelated to the safari), our guide drove us to the hospital in the middle of the night and stayed there to help out, which we greatly appreciated.

Sam was very helpful, reliable and made my trip to the gorillas happen in a very short time.
The tour to the gorillas was a unique and great experience. The tour was well organized and my wishes were realized in a very short time. The accommodation was perfect and relaxing. When my return flight was delayed due to technical problems on the aircraft, Sam took great care of me. I can only recommend.

Simply perfect from the very beginning!
Very responsive and kind communication with Petra regarding our special expectations (which all have been met or even exceeded) - professional but still flexible organization (accommodation, daily schedule, F&B,…) and especially our highly experienced and remarkable pleasant guide William - who always had an idea where to go to see the exceptional - made our safari trip so outstanding!

A DREAM COME TRUE!
My wife and I had been intending to visit Kenya for a safari for several years. Covid and subsequent health issues put paid to that, but last month we finally achieved our dream, and what a dream it was! We chose Imara Destinations following the recommendation of friends who said what a fantastic time they'd had with them. Word of mouth from those you trust is the best endorsement.
My wife is not a confident traveller but fortunately Ephraim dispelled any anxieties. The very warm welcome we received from helpful and friendly staff heralded the beginning of the trip of a lifetime. We were delighted to find our travelling vehicle was immaculate and extremely comfortable. Water was provided daily and there's a refrigerator in the Land Cruiser, which we didn't expect but we were very pleased with it.
As for our Guide Ephraim, what a Gentleman. His knowledge of the area and the various wildlife was excellent. What we didn't expect was being introduced to local communities. What a joy that was! Genuinely friendly and interested people and that added so much pleasure to our experience. We both love wildlife and we were not disappointed. Having not seen wild Elephants (our favourites) before, this was simply wonderful and, I'm not ashamed to say, very emotional for us both. Our companions were fabulous company and we have made some lifelong friends. We were sorry to leave but what an unforgettable experience we had, and one that has enriched both our lives. Sincere Thanks to Ephraim and all the wonderful staff. I must also mention how impressed and grateful we were for the attention paid to the small, but important, details. Safe, efficient, friendly, knowledgeable - I can’t imagine having a better experience on my safari
If I seem extraordinarily positive, it’s not because I am a bot (I promise!). There are a few reasons. One is that I am still riding that “post-safari high”. The second is that I want to see my guide Kevin paid in both recognition and money for the great work he did. Above all though, it’s because I had a legitimately amazing experience with every part of the tour.
Planning the tour was as easy as reaching out via WhatsApp, and I received responses promptly. Pick up was on schedule, and the short ride to the office meeting place with Abraham was pleasant.
The tour itself was amazing. Kevin is a consummate professional. Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, safe, and fun - he’s everything you want in a tour guide. In fact, he’s everything other tour groups wish they had too (he helped 4 separate tour groups that were stuck in the mud). He ensured everyone in our group was safe and having a good time, and my group and I agreed that he was the single biggest factor in why our first safari was so incredible.
I had a lot of worries about going on a safari, especially as a solo traveller being booked with another group. I cannot imagine having a better safari experience. I know there are plenty of operators and I’m sure many of them are very good. For what the opinion of one stranger is worth, I’ll tell you that I will be recommending Kevin and Axis Africa Expedition to all of my friends and family upon my return. Kevin was amazing and I can’t wait to join him on my next safari.
