Good tour guide provided and vehicle was adequate for our needs. The itinerary had a few issues with some plans being taken off as we did not have enough time. I suggest you carefully prepare your medical documentation if visiting Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. We had planned to do this however the tour operator had not given us FULL adequate information which lead to us missing out!

Male lions, Rhino's, Hyenas Galore!
The drive to the crater is beautiful. Once inside, its not a scenic, but the wildlife is plenteous! I've been on a few safaris', and have never had male & female lions (hyenas, etc) walk up to our safari vehicles as they do in Ngorongoro. We could practically pet the lions! They look soo peaceful! If we hadn't seen a kill the day earlier, the lions' beautiful expressions and calm demeanor would have lulled us into a sense of naitivity!
Summer months are good - as the animals have to return to the parks and conservation areas for water (because the rainy season has ended). Weather is also stellar.
Picking a good tour operator is important. Ngorongoro crater is pretty open, so its easier to see safari vehicles conglomerate together. But if you're in the other parks, an experienced safari driver is highly recommended. Within 3 hours of one park, by God's grace (and we attribute this to prayer!), we say 2 sets of lions eating zebra, wiildebeast, and saw a lionness kill another wildebeast! We met a group that evening that didn't see any lions! We highly recommend Kilidove Tours. His team is not only highly knowledgeable (and they teach you their wisdom!), the owner grew up as an orphan and supports 4 - 5 orphans in their schooling! So you're not only getting the best tour company, but supporting a great organization. Its important, and you'll see this, that the operator understands the animals habits and how to maximize your photography experience.

Wonderful scenery!
Etosha is a scenic and unique wildlife destination, very different to other parks with little greenery, but beautiful in its own right. There is an abundance of wildlife although the Big Cats are not as common as in other African National Parks. The camps and lodges are all of a good standard and although there are a lot of self drivers it is still very easy to feel like you are on your own in the vastness of the park. Great and highly recommended destination.

The experience of Namibia was good, but I prefer the bush as opposed to the Namibian landscape. Likewise I prefer bush photography to water-hole photography. Just a matter of preference.

Harsh landscapes that represent the beauty of Africa with its endlessly vast plains.
Itinerary : Windhoek - Kalahari desert - Keetmanshoop - Fish river canyon - Lüderitz - Sossusvlei - Namib Naukluft - Swakopmund - Damaraland - Etosha - Okahandja - Windhoek.
We used to be a party of 25 people driving in a tour bus with one tour guide who also used to be the driver. Our guide told us a lot of the country and the people itself and did a great job. Considering the accommodations, Namibia is a country with a great price / quality ratio, similar to South Africa in fact and better as Kenya / Tanzania, countries we visited the year before. When it comes to landscapes, Namibia is a real treasure for the adventurer; endless landscapes in the middle of nowhere, beautiful colors (especially in the Namib desert) and harsh vast plains are just among a few things to highlight. Wildlife is great too, especially in the Etosha national park where we unfortunately just stayed one and a half day. We would recommend to go for a jeep with a private guide (as we did) and not to ride with the tour bus through the park as it is done by many tourists, ...this is no real safari feeling watching animals through windows in a sticky tour bus. By the way, the Etosha national park is well known for its bird watching possibilities. Besides Etosha, the Namib desert with Sossusvlei / Deadvlei (something not to miss) was our second highlight. The colors during sunrise / sundown are among the most beautiful things you can see, especially for photographers. Weather was great during our 2 week trip through Namibia (no rain in fact). Only two things we would change when returning again to Namibia : 1) Looking for a tour operator who travels in smaller groups, in fact 25 people per bus is above average and a bit too much. 2) Trying to expand the trip to the Zambezi Region who touches Botswana and is well known for its incredible wildlife.
