Fantastic Safari Experience with Gates Adventure Safaris
5/5

Starting with the booking itself, Safari Gates team handled our requests so well. They were quick to give us all information we needed to make our decisions. Our 7day safari started with an itinerary briefing from Dave, he also introduced our guide Joe and we were set to go. Joe made sure that all our expectations were were met. He made sure that the itinerary was followed and gave us more than we expected. We learnt alot from his vast experience in your guiding. The lodges were as we had booked. It was memorable and fantastic. We really appreciated. Thanks to Safari Gates.!

It was everything we had hoped for.
5/5

I am 85 years old and my wife is 78. We have done a lot of traveling over the years. We decided we would make one last big trip, before we got much older. We had always talked about going to South Africa, and doing a safari. My wife did a lot of research, to try and find the best company to book our trip. In every category she looked at, Tailormade Africa always came up the best. She got in touch with Rob, and explained our situation. We wanted to go for two weeks, we wanted to see as much as we could, without being rushed, and we wanted good accommodations. Rob heard every word she said, and took it on board. As I said, my wife and I have done our fair share of traveling, and have used many different agencies. This had to be the best trip we have ever taken. We stayed in 5 different hotels, we were picked and delivered at every stop. There wasn't one missed cue. Rob must have called us at least 6 times, to check to see if everything was going as planned, and did we have any problems or questions. The man loves his job and does it well. We loved the places we stayed. (My wife's birthday happened during this trip). Rob must have let everyplace we stayed, know about her birthday, because she has never had such attention. The rooms and the beds, at every stop were decorated with flowers and bottles of campagna. I have never see my wife so happy. She felt like she was a honored guest. It was almost sad that we only stayed two weeks. A month would have been more like it. I credit the whole experience, to the fact that Rob knew what we wanted and made sure it all went accordant to plan. I would highly recommend, to any of our friends who are planning to go to South Africa, to book it with Tailormade Africa.

Review about Masai Mara National Reserve by Andrea Meroi
Overall rating
5/5

Masai Mara is not to be missed. Gerard was always willing, our tastes and interests. He seems to maintain the enthusiasm of a first day. Loves his country and his work, knows a lot of animals and the places you visit. It is a very careful driver (in fact, he was excellent in two dangerous situations created by other truck drivers).

I don’t think we can remember the number of animals we saw: Lions, Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes (many!), wildebeests, gazelles of various types, topis, zebras and elephants (thousands of elephants in Amboseli), buffaloes, ostriches, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, birds of all kinds... Gerard was always attentive and did everything supremely well.

Don’t miss the balloon flight... a unique experience that is well worth the big bucks it costs. Excellent Casey, the pilot of a Hot Air Safaris.

Review about Lake Nakuru National Park by Andrea Meroi
Overall rating
4/5

Lake Nakuru is slightly decadent since flood deprived of its most important attraction, the flamingos. However, it was there where we saw more and better zebras and where we could get off, well guarded by rangers, and closer to zebras and flamingos themselves remaining in the Lake. Beautiful.

Review about Amboseli National Park by Andrea Meroi
Overall rating
5/5

We chose Alliance Destinations because James was who first answered us, very willing to accommodate the trip to our needs: specifically, to begin in Nairobi and end it in Mombasa (rather than return to Nairobi) and quickly search an international flight that would allow us to get to Nairobi and back from Mombasa. In turn, that would allow to travel along the coast on our own, that was the intention.

James was always attentive, quickly answering our e-mails. We were able to book without any inconvenience.

He and our guide and driver in the safari which was to begin in just two days, Gerard, were waiting for us at the airport in Nairobi. They took us to our hotel and there we close not only the balance of our safari but we decided to contract with them a day at Nairobi National Park, visit to the orphanage for elephants and Giraffes Center. It was an unforgettable day, already with Gerard, and we highly recommend this tour.

And what about Safari in itself? Everything was perfect and far beyond our expectations. We stayed 2 nights in Masai Mara, 1 night at Lake Nakuru and 2 nights in Amboseli. Masai Mara camp is spectacular (Ashnil Camp); other accommodation, not so much, but very well, particularly comfortable, clean and with very good food.

Masai Mara is not to be missed. Gerard was always willing, our tastes and interests. He seems to maintain the enthusiasm of a first day. The parks are long and strenuous, but very instructive. If you want to learn about Africa and its people there is no best way to go observing their villages, their inhabitants, their routes, the places where they live and how they live... Spectacular.

Lake Nakuru is slightly decadent since flood deprived of its most important attraction, the flamingos. However, it was there where we saw more and better zebras and where we could get off, well guarded by rangers, and closer to zebras and flamingos themselves remaining in the Lake. Beautiful.

Amboseli is the paradise for elephants’ lovers. There are thousands (literally). It is not to be missed. Here James joined us to the safari, with good reviews and his good company.

In the end, two surprises bonus track: a visit to a masai community, touching and unforgettable, and another to the elephant with largest tusks...

We have no words to thank the efficiency, work and love Gerard and James. We strongly recommend Alliance Destinations.

After Moremi and Savuti Chobe (east side) felt a bit like a zoo with More tourists than animals. Still lots to see especially elephants and baboons.

Experience the uniqueness of the true African Bush when you visit Kruger National Park
Overall rating
5/5

I have been going to the Kruger National Park most of my life as i used to live in SA. Now that i am no longer living in SA, i long for the true African bush of the Kruger park even more. I probably took too many of those unique and thrilling wildlife sightings for granted all those years ago. There is no place on earth like the Kruger National park. A huge amount of land proclaimed for hundreds of years to the sole purpose of preserving the African wildlife. The park offers self drives options for "huts" and "camping" facilities. You can drive yourself around, or one can stay in the more private lodges with game lodges. My favorite is the self drive option, as your time is your own.
From the excitement of entering the park main gates, when you know you have finally arrived! Deep breath of fresh air, no pollution, the smell of the bush. Its hard to describe, grass, dust, wildlife- its unique! Then the slow drives to camps. The excitement of tuning out all the modern day distractions of cell phones and digital connection, and just driving slowly listening for animal sounds, and bird calls. Keeping your eyes peeled for any signs of movement. From spotting the impalas, to buffalo, then the excitement of seeing the cats! Everyday and every might is a unique experience. Plan your route to leave camp early, catch the sunrise of absolute beauty, stop at the picnic spots, cook an African bush breakfast, head back to camp stopping for elephant road blocks and cats starting the evening prowl for prey. Catch the glorious colours of an African sunset, before sitting under the vast sky of stars. It's a very special place on earth
