Frena Adventures have excellent communication, are reliable and safe, provided us a memorable trip!
5/5

Our recent trip to Uganda and Rwanda was nothing short of magical, and our experience was greatly enhanced by our reliable and friendly driver, Apollo, and our trip contact Fred - both from Frena Adventures.

We found it very difficult to choose a tour company when located overseas. All have similar reviews but the selling point for us was that the reviews said Fred was excellent and very communicative. We wanted a different trip that the standard, and our first email with Fred proved that Frena could organise exactly what we wanted.

We landed into Kigali, Rwanda and we met Apollo the next morning at our accommodation as agreed via WhatsApp.
Our trip included Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorillas (1 night) & Lake Mutanda to canoe (2 nights) in Uganda, then Mt Bisoke to hike, Volcanoes National Park (1 night) in Rwanda. With pick up and drop off in Kigali.

We booked the standard rooms rather than budget as the price was not too much higher. As we booked our trip very late, one of the accommodations was unavailable but Fred found a solution and we ended up with a very luxurious room instead. Based on feedback from previous tour guests Fred changed one of our accomodations during the trip, but again this was positive as we stayed somewhere much better. While we were with Frena, Fred was always accessible via WhatsApp or email to answer any queries.

Apollo was brilliant, he was reliable, provided local insights, the land cruiser was comfortable, he made sure we had plenty of water every day and he helped us with both border crossings. When we arrived at each accommodation Apollo made sure everything was good, before giving us space each evening.
Apollo's cautious driving and adherence to road rules ensured our safety throughout the trip which we really appreciated. For us the biggest thing is we did not have forced or awkward conversation, we could relax and enjoy the views.

Overall our trip was a blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and genuine connections. Apollo and Fred exemplified the spirit of Ugandan & Rwandan hospitality. Thankyou for making our trip so memorable!

About: Kenya
Beautiful country, incredible wildlife, wonderful people

I've travelled to Kenya a few times over the years - first as a backpacker 20 years ago, more recently for safaris, as wildlife photography is one of my passions. My most recent trip was with my 12-year-old son in October 2023. We travelled to Buffalo Springs and Samburu National Reserves in central Kenya, Lake Nakuru to the south-west and finally down to the Masai Mara where Kenya meets the Tanzanian border. We travelled with Spirit of Kenya Safaris and had an incredible trip. Kenya is a spectacular, varied country, with extraordinary wildlife, which is why I keep coming back. I'm already planning the next trip. You can see photos from the last one here: https://jameshopkirk.com/return-to-kenya

We had a 12 day safari visiting 5 different parks. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. Our trip was arranged by apodiformes and they were brilliant at organizing exactly what we wanted. Our driver Kevin made our experience truly magnificent making sure we saw everything. It was wonderful to see the animals in their natural habitat and so many different species. My husband is also very interested in birds and Kevin was very good at spotting birds and identifying them. All the parks were wonderful and each offered something different. The one not to miss would have to be Maasai Mara where the abundance and variety of animals was truly amazing. It was also great to meet the Maasai people who still live in a very traditional way.

Not a lot to see here. Very expensive boat trip, $50 each which only lasted an hour and didn't see many animals! A better lake was Naivasha which had a great variety of birds on the lake and animals in the park. The best place to see black and white Rhinos and an abundance of flamingos. Weren't taken to the actual park.
