The Serengeti National park was the highlight of our 8 day safari trip. We saw a cheetah, a pride of lions, two female lions resting in a tree, along with zebra, wildebeast, elephants, and so many more animals. We stayed two nights at a tented camp, which was a wonderful experience.

We got to see wildebeests by the thousands on their migration. We also saw zebras by the thousands too. We saw crocs, hippos, and so much more.

The Serengeti is how I had pictured Africa. Here it really had the ambiance of an African safari with orange sunsets, dusk with the silhouettes of the acacia trees and the sounds of animals in the distance. At night, the stars were so bright that it felt one could reach right up and touch them. It was so beautiful and amazing.

The Serengeti is a huge park, full of wildebeest (I was there during the Great Migration) and zebras. Every now and then, a rock formation stands out against the landscape, sheltering groups of lions or a cheetah.
It takes several days to explore, and it can be a wonderful experience to sleep in a tented camp inside the park.
One word of caution: avoid the Great Migration. It's certainly a unique event, but unfortunately, it attracts too many tourists. I found myself watching the crossing of the Mara River along with at least 50 other cars. Only the closest five or six could see anything; everyone else could only see the roofs of their cars.
