The wildlife is wild, and the parks arent developed yet. It makes for a unique safari that has that sense of adventure.

The countryside is fairly flat so it lacks the great vistas of East Africa, but offers much less crowded conditions and excellent wildlife viewing.

Zambia is a bird watchers paradise and a great place for safari in any direction you travel. There is tones of untouched space to get away from the bustling city of Lusaka. All of the people are very friendly and Zambia has a great supply of knowledgeable and friendly safari guides.

High quality wildlife viewing, high quality accommodation, definitely not crowded, in fact it felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. Not overly scenic, but then we were there in the dry season, it would have looked very different in the wet season

Of all the countries in Africa I've visited (and I've been to a few - I currently reside in Mozambique), Zambia is the friendliest and most action-packed in terms of places to visit!
Really open spaces, distinctive wildlife patterns and super-friendly people have made Zambia my favourite safari in 7 years of living in Africa.

We were overwhelmed with the wildlife spotting in the South Luangwa National Park. While there were numerous safari operations with multiple vehicles in the park, the park was large enough, there were enough routes for the guides to pick that kept us from encountering them except on rare occasion.
Four star on the scenic beauty question to advise that the parks are not rain forests. They are flat flood plains where the elephants have decimated the forests. For some, this might be undesirable, but the open grassy plains made spotting animals easier. For one who comes from the central United States that is an open prairie with open sight lines to the horizon of ten to fifteen miles or more, this had a feeling of 'home' and was quite welcoming.
All of our camps fit our group size of 15 perfectly without others.

No herds of Elephants, just individuals and small family groups, scenery is very much the same through out the whole park, no mountains but lots of water.
Somewhere a bit different to the usual areas. Just that bit wilder and less developed.
