an incredible tour
Going on an African safari was at the top of my bucket list, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I went into the trip hoping to see the Big Five and visit Giraffe Manor, but I ended up experiencing so much more. The wildlife, the people, the camps and hotels, and the overall experience exceeded every expectation I had. We worked with Jose to plan the trip, and he took our ideas and turned them into an incredible itinerary. The only negative thing I can say is that communication when booking the trip can be better. There were a few miscommunications about the baggage allowance for the mini flights and the pdf that was provided wasn’t very clear. When we did ask for clarity, we were told to refer to the pdf which caused additional issues with the visas (the pdf said we could get an evisa but then told by the journey designer that they recommended we get it on site). Things like that should have been better for the amount we paid , however once we landed in Nairobi, the communication was significantly better. I think the back and forth between ourselves and the journey designer could have been avoided if there was an scheduled call to discuss. Other than that, I think the service we received was fantastic and the accommodations were incredible.
My husband and I spent 13 days around Kenya and Tanzania, 7 of which was on the safaris. In Kenya, we met up with Mose who made everything seamless from the moment we arrived. He arranged our airport pickup and organized a guide for our first day in Nairobi, helping us make the most of our time before heading to Giraffe Manor.
Our first day in Nairobi was spent touring the city with Alex, who took us to Snake Park and the Aquarium, the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, and Karura Forest. Alex was a fantastic guide and shared so much about Kenya's history, people, and tribes.
The next day, Moses drove us to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Nursery. We saw a baby zebra and its best friend, a black rhino, watched elephants play in the mud, and learned about the incredible conservation work being done there. Before leaving, my husband and I fostered a mischievous 3-year-old elephant.
We then spent the night at Giraffe Manor, which was everything I had hoped for and more. The service, food, and overall experience were exceptional. Since it was my birthday, the staff surprised me with a cake and sang Happy Birthday in Swahili. One of the highlights was waking up to giraffes outside our window waiting for treats before joining guests at breakfast. Getting to interact with them so closely was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Our safari began in the Maasai Mara, where we stayed at Mara Bush Camp and were guided by the incredible John Tompoi. John went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything on our wish list, and within 10 minutes of landing, he had already helped us spot our first lionesses resting under the trees. Over three days of game drives, we saw lion prides, a cheetah take down an impala, elephants, giraffes, hippos, hyenas, zebras, buffalo, jackals, and more, with the leopard being the only animal that eluded us. Mara Bush Camp was equally impressive, with attentive staff, excellent food and drinks, and regular appearances from baboons, elephants, and hippos during our meals. Note the truck here did not have any frills aside for chargers but it was fine, cellular service worked great there. We only had one picnic breakfast during our time there which consisted of eggs to our liking, pastries, wines, beers. The one picnic breakfast was due to how close Mara Bush Camp was to the National Park and my request to eat breakfast at the camp, head out for a game drive, return for lunch and relaxation then another game drive.
Once we arrived in the Serengeti, we were guided by Yassin Kweka, who met us in a more modern truck - it had wifi, chargers, hand wipes etc. Yassin helped us check another item off our list by finding our first leopard. He also took us to see one of the famous lion trees, where several lions were lounging in the branches. We had incredible wildlife sightings throughout the Serengeti, including a lion and lioness on their "honeymoon." We stayed at the Melia Serengeti, which was a beautiful property with amazing views and service. Meliá is pretty far from Serengeti like 2 hours so all the lunches were picnic. I enjoyed them as they were always hot somehow, we’d have stews, soups, salads, and dessert. We also had coffee, cold water, wine, beers and juices available at all times. The only thing was that Melia kept forgetting to pack what we ordered but honestly what we requested was so basic I am kinda glad they forgot.
On our way to Ngorongoro Crater, Yassin made sure we had the opportunity to visit a Maasai village, even helping us with cash so we wouldn't miss the experience. We then stayed at Melia Ngorongoro Lodge, which was equally impressive. Ngorongoro gave us our final Big Five sighting when we spotted several black rhinos, including a mother and calf, as well as a male grazing surprisingly close to the road. We also had packed lunch here as well, and from I remember it was pretty good with stews.
The final safari stop was Tarangire National Park, where we stayed at the intimate Nimali Tarangire. The lodge was incredible and provided a perfect ending to our safari. The staff so attentive, they also sung happy birthday to us and brought out all the staff to do so even though we were the only ones there. While Tarangire was beautiful, it was hard to compete with the unforgettable experiences we had in the Maasai Mara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. What I have to say about all these lodges is a lot of the camped ones we were the only ones there BUT the staff still went above and beyond. I really enjoyed chatting to each and every one of them every night after our game drive, learning about their lives and their interests.
We ended our trip with three relaxing days at The Palms Zanzibar, enjoying the Indian Ocean, incredible food, and a chance to unwind after an unforgettable adventure.

A dream come true !
I'll start with our driver/guide (Wilson), who was excellent in every aspect, from his friendliness and patience to his deep knowledge of the surrounding environment and the animals. We came back from this trip much more cultured and knowledgeable about many aspects we had no idea about. Congratulations to Wilson, an excellent professional!
Regarding the Safari, once again excellent! Next time, I'll add one more night in the Serengeti and probably one more night at Lake Manyara, preferably at that excellent hotel, Escarpment Luxury Lodge.
In Zanzibar, everything was 5 ***** perfect, but I wanted to stay a couple more days 😜.
Transfers all worked perfectly.
In summary:
Safari: Excellent
Zanzibar: Excellent
Thank you so much for the wonderful trip!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE
We had such a great experience with Soul of Tanzania. Seven days full of incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes, with everything organized and managed perfectly.
A special mention goes to Wilson, our truly passionate and kind guide. His love for his home country was evident throughout the trip, and he was always attentive to our needs and requests.
He made our trip very special, and we highly recommend him if you are looking for an expert driver with a deep passion for Tanzanian history and culture.
Unforgettable — seamless, reliable, easygoing, transparent
Soul of Tanzania and our guide Michael organized an unforgettable 7 day 6 night safari for my partner and me. We had an incredible experience exploring Serengeti, Ngorongoro, a glimpse of Manyara, and Tarangire. Michael was knowledgeable, responsible, and easy going, a natural travel partner and pilot who made us feel safe and well cared for across the whole trip - an excellent guide. He and the tour company were both very flexible which we appreciated and allowed the whole trip to still feel like vacation (as people who typically spend holidays sleeping in and exploring spontaneously on the fly rather than planning ahead and having a tight itinerary) — we were glad to have downtime to relax when needed. We also particularly appreciated Soul of Tanzania’s transparency with pricing and options for customization (i.e., choosing lodge at each destination at our preferred amenity/price points, and mix and matching). This stood out from other companies and ultimately brought us to choose Soul of Tanzania (in addition to their clearly strong track record). Would recommend to others!!
Magical trip to Tanzania + Zanzibar
We recently returned from a two-week vacation coordinated by Soul of Tanzania, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. We did the 7-day safari with the Zanzibar add-on afterward. During the safari we visited Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Ndutu region, and the Central Serengeti.
One thing we especially appreciated was Soul of Tanzania’s flexibility with our itinerary. They allowed us to stay at a mix of luxury lodges and tented camps, which made the experience feel both comfortable and adventurous.
All of our accommodations, airport transfers, and safari logistics were perfectly scheduled. From the moment we landed in Kilimanjaro, everything was seamless and well organized, and we never had to worry about the details. It allowed us to simply relax and enjoy the experience.
Most importantly, our guide, Wilson, was an absolute class act. Born and raised in Tanzania, his wealth of knowledge and experience was truly exceptional. It was clear that even out on safari he was highly respected by the other guides we encountered. Throughout the trip he made us feel completely safe and well taken care of.
We were also incredibly fortunate with wildlife sightings. We saw every animal we had hoped to see—and many more. Wilson even started calling our group “the lucky six” because of how many amazing sightings we had throughout the safari.
What made the experience even more special was the connection he formed with my 10-year-old son. They built such a great bond over the course of the trip that my son actually cried when it was time to say goodbye.
That’s the thing about a trip like this—you simply can’t fully put into words how magical the experience is.
