We had the most incredible 6-day safari experience with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris, and I honestly don’t even know where to begin!
My mom, my sister and I traveled to Tanzania for my mom’s 50th birthday, and this safari was truly a dream come true. We visited three absolutely breathtaking national parks: Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and every single day was filled with unforgettable moments.
We were lucky enough to see an incredible variety of wildlife, including so many animals we had only dreamed of seeing in their natural habitat. From elephants and giraffes to lions, zebras and so many more, it was simply magical! 🐘🦒🦁
But what truly made this experience exceptional was OUR GUIDE, GODFREY! ❤️
I genuinely believe that the guide makes ALL the difference on a safari. Many companies visit the same national parks, but having someone as passionate, experienced and dedicated as Godfrey completely transforms the experience.
First of all, his eyesight is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! 😂 We kept joking that he had eagle eyes because he could spot animals hundreds of meters away, when we couldn’t even see anything! He would tell us exactly what animal it was, and only as we got closer would we finally realize he was right. It was honestly impressive!
But beyond his incredible ability to spot wildlife, Godfrey is simply an amazing person. He is incredibly kind, patient, funny, always smiling and genuinely passionate about his job. He taught us SO much about the animals, their behavior, the national parks and Tanzania in general.
We are French, and his French is absolutely excellent, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We had so many wonderful conversations, shared lots of laughs and never had a dull moment with him.
He always made sure we were comfortable, happy and enjoying every moment. You could really feel how much he cared about giving us the best possible experience.
A special thank you also to Almachius, who helped organize our safari and was always so kind, helpful and responsive throughout the booking process. Everything was very well organized, and we felt taken care of from beginning to end.

An unforgettable 7-day Tanzania safari with Meru Slopes
Our 7-day, 6-night safari with Meru Slopes Tour and Safaris was truly unforgettable. We started in Arusha and travelled to Tarangire, the Serengeti, and finally Ngorongoro Crater. Along the way we saw an incredible variety of wildlife and many different landscapes. Every day felt different, and the whole itinerary was well organised.
A big thank-you to Laurent, our ground manager. He was extremely reliable and professional. He met us in person on our first day after arrival and again on our last day to patiently and carefully explain the itinerary and review the whole journey with us. As guests from China, we really appreciated how quickly he replied to all our messages before the trip—whether it was day or night. His clear communication made planning completely stress-free.
Our guide Jacob was outstanding. He was outgoing and friendly, always neatly dressed, kept the vehicle spotless, and had amazing eyesight. He could predict where the animals were moving and positioned us perfectly for sightings. He often asked which animals we hoped to see and gave us detailed explanations about their habits and behaviour. We felt very lucky to have him as our guide.
The hotels throughout the trip were good and comfortable, and the camp in central Serengeti left a particularly deep impression on us. We are also grateful that everyone we met along the way was helpful and kind.
This was a very special experience for us, and we hope to come back again. Highly recommended!

An unforgettable private safari experience
We cannot recommend Meru Slopes highly enough! We had an absolutely fantastic experience in Tanzania, and the whole team played a part in making our trip so special.
A special mention must go to Douglas, our safari guide, who was simply wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable, passionate about wildlife and always great company.
He was constantly on the lookout for animals, spotting things we would never have noticed ourselves, and took the time to explain their behaviour, characteristics and fascinating details about the wildlife around us. His knowledge really brought the whole safari experience to life.
We always felt completely safe and in good hands with him. Our two teenage boys absolutely loved him too, which says a lot! He made every game drive enjoyable, interesting and memorable.
The picnics and bush lunches were also absolutely perfect, adding an extra special touch to an already incredible experience.
A special mention also goes to Jerome, who organised our entire trip. He was extremely responsive, helpful and accommodating throughout, always happy to answer our questions and adapt the arrangements to meet our requests. Everything was organised smoothly, making the whole experience stress-free from start to finish.
In the last two days, we were accompanied by Edison, who was also fantastic. He confidently navigated the really challenging roads up to Materuni Waterfall and then took us to explore the local market and the Maasai market the following day. He was friendly, helpful and made these last experiences of our trip thoroughly enjoyable.

Absolutely perfect from start to finish.
We did the 6-Day Big 5 Safari to Tarangire Serengeti and Ngorongoro. I really cannot describe how wonderful this safari was. Everything was perfect from the pickup at the airport to the accommodations and best of all was our guide/driver Andrew whose knowledge of the Serengeti was only surpassed by his dynamic personality. This really was the trip of a lifetime and I thank everyone at Meru Slopes for making it so unforgettable. Looking forward to another safari in the future and it will definitely be with Meru Slopes.

Leonard from Meru Slopes was an exceptionally attentive, professional, and reliable organizer.
We went on a full six-day safari with Meru Slopes Tanzania and can recommend the team without reservation. The trip took us through Arusha National Park, Tarangire, the Serengeti, and to the Ngorongoro Crater—a wonderfully curated itinerary filled with many unforgettable moments.
The pre-trip documentation was impressive, and our communication with Leonhard was always warm, prompt, and highly reliable. Our special requests were accommodated without hesitation, and we felt exceptionally well taken care of from our initial inquiry right through to the end of the journey.
It is difficult to pinpoint just one highlight that impressed us most: seeing the "Big Five" up close, witnessing live hunts—including the moment a predator brought down its prey—and encountering the Great Migration, with hundreds of wildebeest and zebras passing by. Every single day offered its own unique highlights, and the entire experience was simply overwhelming in the best possible way.
A very special thank you goes to our driver, Rashid. Over the course of the trip, we became like a little family; Rashid’s warm and attentive nature ensured that we always felt welcome and safe. He is a careful and reliable driver, incredibly helpful and friendly, and he shared his extensive knowledge of the environment, wildlife, and the region with great enthusiasm. His dedication to Meru Slopes and his personal commitment truly enriched our trip.
The catering was another excellent example of the thoughtful organization: lunches while out on safari were always delicious, served with care in insulated containers and accompanied by a tablecloth. Our overnight stay at the crater turned into an intense encounter with nature due to stormy weather—and thanks to the prime location, it was the perfect starting point for entering the Ngorongoro Crater the following morning. Amazing value, amazing animals, amazing people
This was the best safari experience I could ever have asked for!
Nuru was our guide, and this man is incredibly knowledgeable. He has the eyes of an eagle, spotting animals long before I could even make out what they were! He was so accommodating to all our needs, made us smile and laugh, and gave us some amazing wildlife encounters while sharing his incredible knowledge throughout the trip.
By day 4, we had already seen everything we hoped for, including leopards, lions and elephants. When Nuru asked if there was anything else I wanted to see, I said a hornbill. The following day, during lunch, he told me to grab my camera and follow him quickly. He had been searching for one ever since and had found it for me! That really sums up Nuru: he doesn’t miss a thing and genuinely goes above and beyond to make everyone happy. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
Bonge was a fantastic and accommodating cook who always made sure I had enough delicious vegetarian food to eat.
Wilfred organised everything brilliantly. He helped me plan the trip, gave us recommendations for our onward travel and even managed to source a last-minute SD card for me when I needed one.

An Unforgettable Safari with Meru Slopes – The Experience of a Lifetime!
We had an absolutely incredible experience with Meru Slopes and could not recommend them more highly! Our six-day private safari through Tanzania was a dream come true, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, beautiful landscapes, amazing lodges and, above all, exceptional service from the entire Meru Slopes team. It was worth every penny, and we would choose them again and again!
A huge thank you to Gift Tembo, our sales contact and the person responsible for organising our safari. Communication was incredibly easy, and he always replied super quickly. He organised everything exactly as we wished, answered all our questions and made sure every detail was taken care of. We even had the pleasure of meeting him in person before and after the safari. As a particularly lovely surprise, he arranged a special dinner for us at one of the lodges, which made our trip even more memorable.
From the airport pick-up to our final transfer back, everything worked perfectly. We always felt welcome and were treated like friends rather than just customers. This personal touch made a real difference throughout our journey.

Our guide, Robert, was simply fantastic! He was always friendly, cheerful, punctual and professional, and we felt completely safe with him throughout the safari. His knowledge of the animals, their behaviour and the different landscapes was impressive. He patiently answered every question we had and taught us so much along the way.
His ability to spot wildlife was extraordinary. He regularly spotted animals we would never have noticed ourselves, even when we thought there was nothing around! He always positioned the vehicle perfectly to give us the best possible views and photo opportunities while maintaining a respectful distance to avoid disturbing the animals.
Robert was also an excellent driver, confidently navigating challenging roads and tracks that we would never have imagined driving ourselves. He always gave us enough time to watch, photograph and appreciate the animals without feeling rushed, while also allowing us time to relax and enjoy the journey. We could not have asked for a better guide!
Our private safari was just for the two of us and Robert, which made the entire experience very personal and flexible. We travelled in a modified 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, perfectly suited for wildlife viewing and photography.
The vehicle was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped. We had Wi-Fi, electrical sockets, a fridge stocked with unlimited water and soft drinks, and even beer and wine if desired. The seats were very comfortable, there was plenty of room for both of us and our belongings, and we always felt safe. The vehicle really enhanced our game drives and made even the longer journeys enjoyable.
The accommodation throughout our safari was excellent, with great locations, lovely rooms, delicious food and welcoming staff. We stayed at Under the Shades Safari Lodge in Arusha, Farm of Dreams Lodge in Karatu, Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Wild Camp inside the conservation area. We also returned to Farm of Dreams on our way back to Arusha.
Our absolute highlight was Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp. It was a dream come true to sit on our terrace and watch zebras grazing right in front of us. The beautiful rooms, excellent food, friendly staff and wildlife surrounding the camp both day and night made this stay truly magical.
The food at all the lodges was consistently very good, with delicious options for different tastes. The staff were always welcoming and attentive, and most of the lodges even had swimming pools where we could relax after dusty but amazing game drives.
The hot lunches provided during our game drives were another great touch. We enjoyed them at lovely picnic sites, with a selection of rice, meat and cooked vegetables. They were tasty, varied and perfect for a day out exploring the parks.
We also appreciated the thoughtful extras, including complimentary SIM cards for our safari. These little details demonstrate how much effort Meru Slopes puts into making the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Our itinerary took us through Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. Each destination had its own character, scenery and wildlife, making every day different and beautiful in its own way.
Of course, wildlife is unpredictable, and no safari company can guarantee specific animal sightings. Nevertheless, we were incredibly lucky and experienced encounters we will remember for the rest of our lives!
Among our highlights were:
- Lion families with tiny cubs eating and playing right beside our vehicle.
- Beautiful leopards resting in trees with their prey.
- Cheetahs walking incredibly close to us.
Elephant families drinking right in front of us.
- Both black and white rhinos.
- Vast herds of wildebeest, zebras and buffalo.
- Huge groups of hippos relaxing together in the water.
- Giraffes surprisingly close to our vehicle and gazelles crossing the tracks all around us.
We were fortunate enough to see all of the Big Five and even the Ugly Five multiple times. Every day brought new surprises, and Robert's incredible spotting skills helped us make the most of every opportunity.
We believe Meru Slopes offers outstanding value for money. The organisation, personal attention, knowledgeable guide, comfortable vehicle, quality accommodation, delicious food and thoughtful extras all contributed to an exceptional experience. Everything felt well organised, without ever losing the personal touch that made the trip so special.

Best of the best!!
Our honeymoon was organized by Meru Slopes, and we had worked directly with Leonard. We had an all inclusive tour with the most comfortable luxury accommodations, fantastic food and most of all with probably one of the most experienced guides in Tanzania - Jacobo.
We spent out first days in a lovely hotel with a very comprehensive town tour in Arusha. Then Jacobo took us on the 6 days tour around Tanzanian Safaris, we visited Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, we are happy to say that it was flawless, we managed to see everything on our bucket list, and even after discussing with other travelers we realized we have seen way more than most of other groups that visit the park! Completely unforgettable full of positive emotions and definitely we can brag that National Geographic didn't show as much as we have seen with Jacobo!! 5 out of 5 for Big 5 and Ugly 5, and we have seen each of those animals more than once up close, as close as you can possibly get based on the park's regulations!!!
